Go Away Gustav

I agree with PP, please let us know that you are safe. Stay safe everyone, we are praying for you.

alls quiet here too...some wind, not much though. we have a curfew of 12 noon today. im going out to see if there some ice. (probably not). I went out about 7 last night and took some pics of the clouds rolling in.
first is the front window of my house...ds(15) had a good time with a sharpie marker... we were not going to board up the house cause we were supposed to leave then we changed our minds, it was too late to get plywood, and paneling was all we could get...its not the same but hopefully it does the job. :confused3

i will be taking pics all day long...and uploading the good ones as long as my electricity is on.
a good tip i heard last night...put your refergerators and freezers on the highest setting it can go and drop your ac's to the lowest setting possible to chill the air as much as you can before the electricity goes. :goodvibes

We're still here :goodvibes We are really starting to get more wind and rain, waiting on the power to go out, so this may be my last post. It keeps threatning to go out. We're ready and waiting.....

Morning all!

Rainy and a bit windy here right outside of Baton Rouge, but no much else.

Im having a hurricane cocktail for breakfast LOL... I think ive watched way to much news, I needed a stress reliever.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for Louisiana folks.. we def need it!

Winds are really picking up here in St. Martinville. I have video but its taking forever to upload to photobucket. The lights have gone out twice, but came right back on about a minute later.
There is debris in the streets, but not much. Im not sure if this is the worst its gonna get...if it is, great. if not...im scared. :scared: the wind is blowing so hard the rain is going sideways...I was trying to video the house across the street and it was stinging my face.
As im typing a breaker just blew across the street, that scared the crap out of me :rotfl: I guess its not mine since the lights are still on.

we have every color boones farm you can imagine over here...:thumbsup2 when the winds die down a bit you are welcome to come drink with us

Thank goodness for neighbors with generators :worship: They ran me an extension cord yesterday and I am able to run my fridge, tv, lamp, router and laptop! Here is what it looks like here right now. My DH is at work and they have a wind gauge and it is reading 80 mph winds and stronger gusts. We lost power a few hours ago, and in the past 7 1/2 years that we have lived here, I can count on both hands how many times we have lost power. I wish you could hear the roar of the wind and the popping of my house. :scared1: My kiddos are doing great though, very calm :goodvibes Thank goodness.

THis was about 8am this morning. My girls watching the storm come in:

The wind is still gusting very bad. I will try and post video later if I can. So far we have been very fortunate. My parents have lost 3 trees and had to moves next door to them for safety. I am still trying to get in touch with them to get an update. :confused
:

Glad to hear everyone is safe. My DH is without power in Lafayette, but said there is not much damage. We lost about 3 shingles on our roof. A tree fell on his grandmother's outdoor kitchen. Luckily, everyone was in the main house. Stay safe. Thanks for all the picture updates.

I hope everyone stays safe and I hope we all have storm free trips to Disney!!

Prayers for a safe day for all of you in the affected areas. I'm sorry you are having to go through this. Stay strong, and know that you are being thought of in a special way - especially for the kids to not be too fearful of what is happening.

We still dont have power...ugh!!! its miserable. My mom lives in the same town but has a different power company, she has power...thank God!!! But my job is still in the dark, so im not working for the rest of the week. :sad2:
and I have a trip coming up in less than a month.
Thankfully its only my lights though...my house is fine and we are fine. So...were in good shape.
coteau-chick...what up at your end?
mom of 3 also???

We just got power back last night. I added a new link in my signature. It is about our evacuation story. I am glad you are ok.

Hello all... back home finally!!!

Happy to be here! Power was restored late late last night.

All is well with our home just a BIG BIG mess to clean up.

We leave for WDW next Wed... I hope, Damn Ike needs to go away!!

Glad all you guys made it through OK. My kids and I evacuated to Austin and my DH had to stay behind for work. Thank God, we were spared this time. We were hit by Rita 3 years ago and some folks are still getting things back to normal. DANG hurricanes!!!
Stay safe and I hope you all get your power back soon. I think the worst part of having no power is having no internet access!!! :goodvibes

:goodvibes Hello! I am finally able to give an update! We had power restored late last night, and I am so thankful!!! It has been a long hot week with no power, but we're ok. Looking forward to getting things back to normal. I am going to update my PTR later and will be adding pics from Hurricane Gustav. Check soon!

Ike has me sick to my stomach. DH and I were just discussing it. At this point it really is looking like it too is coming straight for us. We are supposed to fly out Thursday.....Part of us thinks we should clean out the fridge just in case and get on that plane and have a great trip. The other part worries about what will happen while we are gone and what we will come home to. I am so confused and saddened right now.
