Go Astros!

FINALLY! I'm so happy that we won the Pennant!

The Houston Chronicle reads: "Houston, We have a Penannt!"

I had kind of a delayed reaction last night at home watching the game. It finally hit me this morning that we really did it!

I had tears in my eyes when they interviewed Bagwell & Bidge. They so deserve it!

Awwww.... We don't get to hear about things like this up here. Thanks for posting these little details. :)

My Father took me to see the Colt 45's in 1962 when I was three years old. He was a construction supply salesman and one of his customers did all the masonry work at the Dome and as a result we got to go see one of the first games in the Dome when it opened. I played baseball through high school and have coached or worked with Little League baseball for over twenty years. Baseball is a huge part of my life and now after 45 years of waiting my Astros are finally in the World Series. I wish my Father were still here to see it.

Additionally, did anyone hear the story they were telling at the end of the game about Clements and his Mother? When she was dying and he was deciding whether to play in a game or not she told him to go and play, she said they would win 10-2. Clements laughed because if you follow baseball you know that the Astros have given him very little run support all year. Well in the 9th inning the Astros were winning 10-1 and in the top of the 9th an Astros error allowed one run to score and they wound up winning 10-2. As Clements sister was sitting with their Mother and her condition worsened she said "Shoeless Joe Jackson". He played for the Chicago White Sox. Was she in some way telling the future about who the Astros would face in the World Series?

Oh my gosh!! I forgot!!! I better get going, I hope they aren't sold out yet![ /QUOTE]

Good Luck! the line at Academy was to long for me (waiting with a 3 and a 5 yr old) and at Target they were only getting in 175 shirts and they had given out numbers to get one. Needless to say I didnt get a number. Looks like my poor hubby may have to go to Orlando in an old Astros shirt.

A.

I feel a whole lot better today, thanks!!! I was going out of my mind when Dan came in at the bottom of the 9th....I've never been so on edge....he did a great job and we are all so proud of him :goodvibes Congrats to all of the Astros fans...you have waited a long time for this and I'm so happy Dan is a part of such a great team with outstanding fans.....another week of late nights for us but hopefully there will be lots to celebrate next week :cheer2:

Oh my gosh! I just got back from Academy (on I-45 in League City) and the line to buy shirts was out the door with about 50 people standing in line to get in (the parking lot was a mad house).... and all they had in the store were child size shirts and caps! No adult sizes left! WOW!

Someone said they should get another shipment around noon, so I guess I will try back in a little while! :flower:

Wonder if Koza's in Pearland is selling any or did they just ship all they made to other stores?

I sure hope the Astros included the ump from game four in the celebration. He deserves to be included as part of the team.

I heard this too. My husband swears that guaranteed us a trip to the World Series.

I just wanted to jump in and say Congrats... I am so sad today but you guys played great... enjoy the ride next week!!!!!!!!!

I was teaching my DD about the phase there is always next year this morning LOL...

Congrats!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Astros and to you fans! I really thought that the loss the other night had changed the momentum but I was very wrong. Oswalt pitched a heck of a game. What a great series this is going to be. I love watching well pitched games and both the Astros and White Sox have great pitching.

By the way... Very nice!

You & me both! I've waited so long for this...victory is sweet! :cool1:

Go get 'em Astros!!!

I went to Academy at lunch and they were sold out, but I'm going to call them later and see if they got anymore yet. :Pinkbounc

I went at about 2:00 to the Academy on 59 near Kirby. There were news crews there reporting "No shirts!" Silly me thinking that I'd waited till the rush was over!

To brerrabbit - I remember reading your msg's last year about you & your dad going to games together, much like me and my dad, starting with the Colt 45's. I was 10 when the dome opened, so I remember it pretty well.

Our dads & Mrs. Clemens are rooting for the Astros - I bet it'll help!

(We'll see!)
