I like the Victorian time period a lot, Jackie! Plus I like a good frontier story!!

Victorian time period? Well, I would recommend any of the Tasha Alexander books -- Silent to the Grave is the first one, I think. Also, Deanna Raybourne is another good author with novels set during the Victorian time periods. Both those authors can just suck you right into the story.

I am drawing a blank on the frontier time period. I think the only thing I have ever read set in that period was Lonesome Dove and the Little House books.

Have you read The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie? That's another one that I loved -- the narrator, Flavia, is eleven, but it's a book for adults -- a murder mystery set in England in the 1930's. Flavia is a hoot, and I reserved the second one in the series from the library.

I adore Lady Emily -- the newest one will be out in October -- it's going to be called Dangerous to Know.

LOVING it!!! I am trying to pace myself because it's the kind of book I could devour in a day or two and then, I will be sad it is over.

I adore Flavia! She is one of the best characters I have encountered in a long time.

I want to read something about Queen Victoria. I just watched the movie Young Victoria and it was truly a delightful movie, I loved it!

I just saw a series where the character solves mysteries for Queen Victoria -- I want to say it was by Stephanie Barrons. If you find anything else, let me know. I would love to read something about her.

I have read that series -- it's very good. She manages to capture Jane Austen's voice so perfectly that you want to believe she really did write about solving mysteries.

This is what both of them say these days, "Are you planning on making something in particular for lunch today?" because some days I do make something like tuna sandwiches or whatever -- if I don't they just trot themselves into the kitchen. They know better than to even ask about breakfast -- they are fully capable of making an Eggo waffle or a bowl of cereal.

Jen, for a 'frontier' book. One of my all time fave books is "For the Roses" by Julie Garwood. It takes place both in frontier montana,and also regency England. Its a great read... (as are all of Ms Garwood's historical romances! Most are set in England or Scottish Highlands)

I'm trying really hard to stay awake so I can do the Speed Scrap on Mouse Scrappers tonite. The hostess lives out west.... so it doesn't start til 10EST bah! I did make one for the weekly challenge of Allison at BBB. I'll post it here since I never made it that far in my TR before I gave up on it...so none of you got to see any pics!

Thanks Jackie! I'm trying to force myself to get some pages done...I'm soooooo behind!

I have every book Julie Garwood has ever written.... all but 3 in hardback (her older books are collectors items and for a hardback go for $60+ on ebay IF you find them at all!) But the paperbacks are all in print.

Her newer stuff is good.... but she writes all modern romances now. I prefer the historical ones.

The other author I adore for historical romance is Kathleen Woodiwiss. I have everything she's written too (all hardback)

I've probably read all of their books a min of 5x each (which is why I get hardback lol! I destroy paperbacks!)
