Gnomies Gone Wild

Thanks everyone! Charles keeps trying to cheer me up -- he says we can go no matter what. He made me laugh when I said, "Should we even still plan on going over Chelsea's birthday?" and his response was, "We have our dining reservations! We have to go! That's my favorite part of the trip!"

Jen, good luck with your taxes. We always use Turbo Tax, and it is super easy.

Julez, that's awesome that you are headed to the World in May! You are going to have a great time!

Christine, don't be too green with envy. My day will be filled with cleaning the house which I have been putting off all weekend.

Yeah, Charles! :yay: Too cute, we have our ADRs so we have to go! :rotfl: He's really a closet DIS'er, I think!!

You're right... cleaning doesn't sound terribly fun but if given the choice b/w cleaning and work... :rolleyes1

Julez- I forgot to say congratulations on your trip. That is great. Can't wait to hear about your plans.

He does have his moments from time to time. ;)

Yeah, I would have to agree with you. I am already not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow -- it's a long time until spring break. :sad2:

Way to go Charles for putting things into perspective!! :lmao:

I'm very excited to be adding Julez to my list of Dismeets! :cool1:

Today is a work day around here (well, except for me...not much subbing lately :sad2:). this is our second built-in snow day. I've lost track but we are up to 6 or 7 so far for the year. We got another 3 inches or so of snow yesterday and now are at #10 for the snowiest winter on record. It will only take another couple inches to push up to #5 (they spread out quite a bit from there) With another couple weeks of winter, and no warming in sight, we will easily get there

Can I share a bit? (silly question, I know that's what we are here for!) I don't want to bring it up on my PTR because I don't want to share too much about Beth's business. I haven't mentioned that she suffers from a nerve condition. When we started planning this trip, she was doing really well and showing great improvement. Around Christmas, she had a setback and hasn't seemed to come back from it yet. I can always tell how she is feeling from her activity on FB and she hasn't been on in weeks! Usually if I text her, I hear back right away but I sent her a message on Friday and haven't gotten any response. :guilty: She had a procedure done last week that she was very hopeful would bring her relief from the condition but having not heard anything since then makes me very worried.

I am of course concerned for her and how she is feeling (she said when the condition was at it's worst about 1 1/2 years ago, she couldn't even hold her husbands hand or hug her kids...how awful!) but I am selfishly worried whether she will be up for our trip.

It think I'll try giving her a call today to talk to her in person.

YAY for going on a trip Jules that is great!!!

YAY for Charles!! It's amazing how our guys always seem to swoop in and save the day at the best times!!! So Jackie, while you're at want to come clean my house...pretty please! I have to be at work today UGHH...no President's Day off for us!

Katie...I hope everything is okay with Beth!!! Will say a prayer for her!

Katie, keep us posted about Beth's condition! I hope she feels well enough to enjoy the trip!

Jen, I am having a hard time even contemplating cleaning my house. I don't think I have the necessary motivation.

Julez: Congrats on your trip! WOOT!

Jen: I've always done my own taxes and I use the H&R Block online program. I love it. I've been using it since I was 20 and did my taxes on my own for the first time.

C: I have today off. One of the perks of working at a Bank. I plan to do nothing all day, kinda like I did yesterday.

Jackie: Charles is the best. See what happens, everything will work it. :goodvibes

Katie: I'm sorry about Beth. I would just give her a call and see what is going on with her.

I think I got everyone. I'm starting to really have ticker envy. I just want a vacation with Marc. I don't even care if it's to Disney. I was pricing out Disney cruises last night for September and then I realized I changed my two weeks vacation to after Memorial Day and not in September anymore. Boo. Who knows, I just have to be patient.

LL, enjoy your day off! I have done nothing all weekend and am starting to stress about it. I just can't seem to get motivated to do anything.

Is there any way to change your vacation dates to coincide with Marc's or is it too late for that?

Well...I technically could change it to the fall but my boss will be on maternity leave and I don't want to be out two weeks while she is gone...it's a waste of my vacation time if you get what I mean. :rolleyes1;)

Morning Gnomies!

Happy President's day to you Americans! It's Family Day up here for us Canucks! You're supposed to use today to stay in touch with your loved ones...So I am sitting here at the computer while my family does other things!:rolleyes1

CP - That really stinks! But kudos to Charles on trying to cheer you up! I'm sure that no matter where you wind up staying you'll have a great trip and Chelsea will have a great birthday!

Julez - HI!!!! :yay: That's so exciting that you're going in May! :woohoo: You have a lot of planning to do!

Katie - I hope everything is okay with Beth. Let me know if there's anything I can do or if you need to talk.

LL - I'm sure anywhere you and Marc go will be a wonderful vacation! I think it's really romantic how the two of you just want to spend time together. It's inspiring!:lovestruc I'm sure something amazing will present itself for you guys!

C- sorry you have to work today. Hope your day goes well! :goodvibes

CP, I just saw they have extended the gift card program through August. $300 with a value stay, $500 with a mod stay and $750 with deluxe.

If you use the card to pay for other things you would do anyway, this actually comes out to a bigger savings than the 20/30/40 deal (at least this was the case with May pricing, maybe not with July but worth looking into)

Stace, I think it's great you are spending time with your Dis family ;)

CP: Glad you got my message. :rotfl2: I just saw that they extended the deal too...would that work for you better??

Stace: We have our moments. We haven't been away together since September 2008 so we need to do something. I'm thinking even if we take a long weekend in June for our anniversary...maybe that will work. Who knows.

Katie, thanks for the heads-up about the gift card extension. Definitely something to think about...

LL, I am quick like that. :rotfl: I am so sad I am finished with The Betrayal of the Blood Lily. It was my favorite book of the series -- besides the first one. Now I need something else set in colonial India to ease the pain.

Stace, thank you. :goodvibes

I have a couple of different options I am playing around with right now. I am just letting them sit and ferment for now. I feel a little better now that my house is clean. I don't know why but I always feel cranky when my house needs to be cleaned. Afterwards, I am always in a better mood. I am about to go mix up my oatmeal/blueberry cookie dough.

Charles, still trying to make me feel better, said this morning, "I don't mind hanging out with the Brazilians at the pool bar this summer." :rotfl: I hated to tell him that they were all teenagers, not grown-ups.

OOOH...oatmeal/blueberry...okay you really got to start sending samples to my house Jackie!!

Glad the house is clean and that you are feeling more optimistic!! I know you guys will figure out something!!!

Well I get a teacher discount so I will be putting H&R Block on our computer and that is how Phillip and I will be doing our taxes this year...wish us luck LOL!

You know...I started Blood Lily and just can't get into and I think my problem is that I don't exactly remember what happened in the last book. I'm going to find a summary of the books and then start it again. I like it but I am too confused...does that make sense?

I've been on a wicked kick of Diane Chamberlain books. They are excellent. I just finished one a few minutes ago and I'm going to start another one when I get off the computer.

I have some giftcards to spend at Barnes & Noble...and found two books that I thought you might like the sound of too.

The Postmistress by Sarah Blake and The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I'll let you know how they are when I get them. The summary of Postmistress kinda reminds me of the Potato Peel Society book.

Hope those of you with the day off enjoyed it! Those cookies sound good, CP!

Katie- were you able to reach Beth? I hope she's doing better or will be soon. :goodvibes

OOOH...oatmeal/blueberry...okay you really got to start sending samples to my house Jackie!!

 I haven't managed to bake them yet. I will be doing that tomorrow after school.

I was confused at the beginning, too, because I could not remember what happened in Night Jasmine to save my life. Then, it slowly started coming back to me. Don't give up on it yet.

I need to read some Diane Chamberlain. I have been reading Garden Spells by the same author as The Sugar Queen today, and it's really good.

I keep seeing those two come up as suggestions for me on Amazon. Let me know if you like them!

Hope those of you with the day off enjoyed it! Those cookies sound good, CP!

How was your day, C?

Julez - HI!!!! :yay: That's so exciting that you're going in May! :woohoo: You have a lot of planning to do!

Hi Stace! I love hearing about the different Canadian holidays! And thanks.. I'm SOOO excited! :cheer2:

______________

So... what a crazy friggin' Monday! I'm glad it's over. Rach and I are workin' hard on her homework and then are watchiing our DVR'd copy of STARSTRUCK on Disney. :lmao: My girl is 6 goin' on 13 these days!

So I priced out 3 nights at Pop with the 30% off PIN code email I got and it comes to $260! My bestie is coming with us so that makes it just $130 for me cuz she'll pay for 1/2 the room! :yay: As for flights- we arrive to Orlando about 10:40 and we'll be leaving on a night flight out on Saturday evening around 7. Man, I'm excited.... :cloud9:

I called Beth today and got her voicemail. I left a message and about an hour later got a text saying she would call me and talk when she got over her cold and her voice returns.

Thanks for your concern! I'll update when I hear from her again.
