Gnomies Gone Wild

Happy New Year, everyone! Wish I could come to chat tonight. Instead, we are entertaining -- fondue and fun until midnight, and I couldn't be crankier. I am so not looking forward to it -- I have really had a hard time dealing with my in-laws this holiday season. I think I would rather be standing in the 200 minute line for Soarin' instead. Yes, I really would.

CP....I'm right there with you on the inlaw business. I'm so OVER mine. What is funny is that we told them we would do Christmas Eve at our house next year and then they all decide that want to do fondue! We've never done fondue...and don't the people who host decide? UGH.

Pretty sure the hosts get to decide what to serve. Ugghh! People have such nerve.

If I could have my way, we would travel every holiday so I didn't have to put up with the family.

Me too!! I really don't want to do fondue. I've never actually had it so now I feel like I have all this pressure to figure out HOW to do it over the next year. But if this is how I have to get Christmas Eve to be over with before 10PM at night then I will do it. It was torture this year!

Love the ticker! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I don't know about cheese or chocolate fondue, but with the meat fondue that we do, we just put vegetable oil in the fondue pot and heat it. Everyone gets a plate of raw meat like stew meat (mmmm, right? ;)), they put it on the fondue forks and stick it into the hot, bubbling oil until cooked the way they like it. Couldn't be easier, really.

We serve baked potatoes and a salad to go along with it. It's really very easy. I just don't want to hang out with everyone until midnight.

I love my new ticker, but I am so super paranoid Chelsea is going to see it by accident. Or Connor. Which would be like Chelsea seeing it.

Argh! For some reason I can't see Jackie's new ticker. Even though I know about the trip I am still disgruntled.

LL - I'd have to agree that the hosts determine the menu, generally.

Meat fondue w/ baked potatoes sound yummy. The hanging out til midnight? Not so much.

Thanks to you both for pointing out one good thing about being single: NO INLAWS!

:guilty: Boo! I missed you all in chat...poohey!

We had a really great day right up until the last 20 minutes of the drive home. Daniel was just over tired and got super cranky and Greg reacted very badly to it. I was thinking all day we would come home, put the kids to bed, have a drink and hang out together for awhile. Instead, I am giving Greg a timeout by being upstairs with my laptop and letting him be annoyed by himself.

So here's wishing all of you a wonderful new year!!!!! I love my gnomies :grouphug:

HAPPY NEW YEAR GNOMIES!! I hope 2010 is filled with many joys and much love!!

I too am sad I missed chat (not from a lack of trying by my gnomies LOL) however stupid cell phone when charging forgets to make noise and Phillip and I decided to not wait an extra day and get the painting of the dining room done last night so we could just forget all about it and have a relaxing day today!!!! My dining room looks amazing I love the light shade of blue I choose for it!! So this afternoon I get to put it all back together and cross another thing off my to do list. I have to tell you all with all the little things that I have to be getting complete I'm feeling very very overwhelmed at the moment!!!

Jen...sorry to hear about Megs I hope she gets to feeling better soon!! Many prayers will be said for a swift recovery!!!

Leslie I have some great fondue recipes if you would like me to send them your way...although I have to agree it is usually the host who decides the menu...LOL

HAPPY NEW YEAR GNOMIES!!!:woohoo:

I wish you all the best the New Year could possibly bring!:grouphug:

And thanks for all the info Paula! I'm gonna have to research all the DVC stuff. When I looked at just reserving the rooms through Disney it was about $7000 for 6 nights! But my cousin with the kiddies is determined to stay on-site! I'll have to come up with every option in the book to present!

I hope everyone had a merry night last night! We just had a family gathering, before the surprise party today! It was hilarious, once midnight came, we all sat around and took turns saying one nice thing about everyone else! It was huge sappy tear-fest! But it was a wonderful way to start the new year. My 3 year old neice stayed up soooooo late! She was up way past midnight! She was chugging gingerale in a wine glass thinking it was grown up drinks. She never has soda! At about 11pm she was sucking down cream soda like there was no tomorrow! She was spinning around on the floor! It was great!:upsidedow

Well, I hope you all have a great first day to the new year!

Hey gang....so sorry I missed chatting last night....I was quite busy trying to nurse Megs back to health. She is still feeling downright miserable, and I just feel so badly for her!!! I think if her pediatrician's office is open tomorrow, I am going to take her in......she just can't shake the fever or any other symptoms and her cough sounds AWFUL!!!!! I've been very teary-eyed watching her deal with this for some reason too....and I think it has to do with the fact that for her, she doesn't have just a cold. She is a child with Sensory Integration Dysfunction who has a cold................why does that change anything? Her over-sensitivity to all sensory input is incredibly heightened and complicated when her senses themselves are compromised. When her nose gets stuffy to the point she can barely breathe, she breaks down into a trembling cry because she starts to panic that she really can not breathe. The normal aches, pains, and chills you get from a cold are heightened and feel 100x worse to her. She has been so healthy for so long that I think I have forgotten a lot of what to expect when she is sick. It has in a way stirred all those Mommy emotions right back up because I just want to rescue her so badly from this, and I simply can't do anything.

I'm sorry to use this forum and our chit chatter to vent, but I'm home alone with her...it has been an exhausting day trying to comfort her....and getting it out here feels a lot better than crying.

Thanks for "listening!" I truly do appreciate it!!!! Much love and Happy New Year to you all!

Happy New Year, Stace!!!

Jen, you can always vent to us!!! I hope Megan feels better soon! Poor baby!

Everyone, I started my PTR if anyone wants to wander over to it. ;)

Aw Jen, that's what we are here for! I'm so sorry Megs feels so terrible, seeing your child feel bad is always hard. Hopefully you it reminds you of how well she really is doing in the grand scheme of things and gives you something to appreciate long term (even though is sucks in the short term!) hang in there, hopefully she will be better soon!

Awww Jen. I'm sorry. I hope that you can get Megs in to see her doctor today.

Thanks for the bat signal, CP! :thumbsup2
