Gnomes Gnomes on the Range!

Hi, Gnomies! It is back to the grind for me today, and I swear the kids are just as hyper today as they were the week before Thanksgiving. It might be a very long three weeks!

LL, I am super impressed that you did all of that! We have managed to buy both the kids' big presents and all the stocking stuffers. That's it.

I was pretty impressed with myself! Usually I wait until the last minute to wrap presents since it is not my favorite thing to do.

LL that is an amazing accomplishment! It's not even December yet! Wow!

Well, wish me luck ladies, tomorrow is dental surgery day!...oops! Not tomorrow yet, Wednesday! Sorry, I thought it was already after midnight!

Well most of my shopping is done, but to be fair I did it online LOL!! I have a few more things to pick up for Phillip but we are going frugal this year LOL!!!!

I have all my family back home bought for so that's a relieve, now to decorate! We are doing a Neighborhood Holiday Drop-In Party to meet our neighbors so it's time to prepare for that.

Good luck tomorrow Stace!

Jen, were you really up and posting at 4:15AM my time....so that would make it 3:15AM your time?? :scared1::lmao:

LL-you are amazing :rotfl:
I do have my cards written out, but not mailed yet and we certainly do not have a tree or lights up yet. I have most of my gifts finished though!

P-SO sorry about your trip!! :guilty: I hope that something works out for you and Tom very soon! Keep us updated!
Jen-What a cool idea about the neighborhood party! We never get a chance to meet our neighbors! We're going frugal too..most money to set aside for another trip! :thumbsup2
Stace-good luck with the dentist! Boy do I hate going there...will certainly be thinking about you!

Alright, this sucks! My fast just started so of course now I want to eat....stupid teeth! My appointment isn't until noon! And then I have 6 hours of work and who knows how long I'll sleep for after....I am gonna be HUNGRY by tomorrow night! And I can't have anything solid.....OTTV!

But, my auntie took me to see Tangled tonight! It was soooooooo wonderful! Definately worth the 29 year wait! It was very sweet!

Alright, off to bed so I can forget about food! G'Night! :)

/
Ooh I forgot! I was thinking of you all during the previews at the movie! They showed one for Gnomeo and Juliet! ;) :)

I so want to see Tangled, maybe during Christmas break!!! Only a few more days until December 17th WOOT WOOT!!!!

Hmmmm...Gnomeo and Juliet...hmmm that sounds like a MUST SEE!!!

Take care today Stace!!!

Hi ladies! I survived! :goodvibes

Heavens to Betsy I am sore and my face is huge! But I'm on the mend thank Goodness! I'm at my mum's and she's taking good care of me. I was starving when I woke up (at 5:47am!) and she made me some scrambled eggs but they're too difficult to eat so I think it will just be soup and juice for me today! I don't remember coming home last night or anything but they did about 6 hours worth of work and I now have no wisdom teeth left! :yay:

I'm gonna take more pain meds and try to go back to sleep. I feel like someone hit me in the face with a mack truck!:headache:

I hope you all have a lovely thursday! And if it's snowing for any of you like it is here, then take care out there!

We took Megs to see Tangled over the weekend......I.....SO.....LOVED......IT!!!!!! I seriously can not wait until that one comes out on DVD!!! I am sure I will be taking her back to see it again soon....it was seriously FUN!

Loved the Gnomeo trailer!!! TOO cute! When it comes out, we should all go see it on a specific day...close to the same time!!! It would ALMOST be like seeing it together! ;)

Did anyone else see the article that said Disney is getting away from the Princess/Fairy Tale movies because they appeal to girls more than boy????

I don't have the link anymore but they are saying they are going to do more movies like Toy Story. Don't get me wrong I love Toy Story but I like the princess movies too! There was a quote that said the "fairy tale genre has been played out" Pfffft!

The article also speculated that is why they changed Tangled's name from Rapunzel and how they focused on the boy character more in the commercials.

I'm sad. I like the fairy tales!

Whhaaatt?!?!?! Ok, I realize I am on a lot of pain meds right now but does anyone else not think that is ridiculous?! There were tons of little boys at Tangled! And those stories are universal! Just because there is a princess involved doesn't mean it's only for girls! Don't get me wrong, I love the Toy Story movies but...what about Cars? Should that have been only for boys? It's ridiculous to put these boy/girl labels on things. Like for example, my cousin's DBF. He's a 21 year-old jock who works at a gym - macho man right? One of his favourite movies is Breakfast At Tiffanys! You can't label!

Wow I just went off on my soap-box!

But seriously!? I appreciate where they're coming from but it's silly! And, look at the success they've had with all of their movies! There's no need to change the formula! From Tangled and Princess and the Frog to Cars, to Toy Story - it's all popular! We all want to see it all!

I waited 29 years for Disney to do Rapunzel! I don't want to wait that long for another new princess! The fairytale genre is hardley played out! Another one of my favourites they haven't done is the 12 Dancing Princesses! There are zillions of these stories out there and we've barley skimmed the surface! I'm sure many of them are "boy-friendly" too!

I just hope the ideas they come up with are original and fresh and still contain that Disney charm we all know and love. I guess as long as that remains intact I'll be happy!

stepping down now ;)

P - the trailor is cute right?:laughing:I love the frogs!

We should try and do that Jen! :goodvibes
I really hope to see Tangled again in theatres too! it was super duper sweet!

Hey ladies...check out that ticker :rolleyes1

DANG Jess!!!!!! Lucky girl...like a little short notice huh!

Thanks for posting the trailer P. We haven't seen Tangled yet so I was excited to see that. I love the idea MM of all of us trying to see it on the same day!! We could obnoxiously text each other during the movie

the princess movie comment is interesting. I must admit, I've never been a big princess fan, I much prefer the Pixar movies for that reason but I can't imagine Disney giving up on the fairy tales just because they appeal more to boys. After all, look at the Fantasyland expansion...highly oriented to girls which is OK as long as they don't ignore the boys in the whole scheme of things.

Stace, glad to hear you are doing OK after all of that crazy dental work :scared1:

TGIF! Any fun plans for the weekend? We have a local theater that plays "old" movies cheap and this weekend is The Polar Express so Daniel and I will go (Patrick doesn't really care for the movie) Other than that, just hang out and get work done around the house I think. North and eastern Iowa is getting a lot of snow right now but we are just forecasted to get a dusting. The boys would be excited to see a little snow on the ground in the morning, we haven't had anything measureable yet, just light dustings. How is everyone else's weather?

Yeah...I'd say, it's a little short notice for me too, I just found out about it last night :rotfl:
I'm excited now though aside from the initial shock of Blake's surprise booking without letting me know...thankfully today I was able to take the day off I needed at work, get riley a boarding appt and work on getting my valium prescription! I started my PTR though :thumbsup2

No fun plans for me this weekend...I spent the earlier part of the week making my christmas wreath, mailing out christmas cards and wrapping presents. I dropped Blake off at the airport this morning, so I think riley and I will be cuddling tonight and most of tomorrow, it's only been about 46 here, but the wind is starting to pick up and the wind plus salt water with my job is really really starting to make my hands crack, so I'll be nursing those as well

LL....I was reading the same article... so you're not going crazy!!

I think they mentioned that even girls aren't interested in being princesses after age 5... so this is the last 'princess-type' film on the boards. The focus will be more toward adventure. Girls can be adventurous (think Mulan,,, she wasn't a princess!!) so I don;t think that the girl factor will be done.... just the princess-y ones.

Disney shot themselves in the foot last year advertising princess and the frog. It was an AMAZING film.... with plenty of appeal to boys.... but they didn't market it that way, and it didnt do well. They learned fromthe mistake and advertised Tangled as more adventure... and it's paid off BIG!

With the huge expansion of Fantasyland... and all the princess heavy stuff planned there.... I don't think the Disney Princess is in danger. We'll just be seeing her ":Elizabeth Swann" side :thumbsup2

Love the idea of us all texting and seeing Gnomeo together lol!!

WOW you go Jess!!! Lucky girl!! So we get to single digit dance with you tomorrow LOL!!!! I want to hear some more details let's go....... LOL

Yes I read that article too and I was sad to read that!!! I know that any little girl I have will have many princesses to love, but no new ones...ACKKKKK!!!!! I still have yet to see Tangled but I have to agree with P and others they definitely went for the boy audience and it is paying off and it's a good movie to boot!! I need to see it before January so I can have convo with the characters LOL!

Love the going to see the movie at the same time idea!!! Let's do it!!
