Gnomes Gnomes on the Range!

Hi girls! Definitely just wrote an entry and the DIS lost it! Hate that!
Kels-Awesome shirt idea and design! I'm sure Paula will do the most excellent job for you, she always does!
Btw-I realize I haven't introduced myself! I'm Jess:goodvibes 26 originally from Baltimore, MD, attended school and received my bachelors and master's in biology. I moved to Virginia Beach in October with my boyfriend Blake of 6 years (we attended graduate school together, so he's also a biologist). Currently I'm an aquarist, I take care of saltwater fish, but am currently looking for a new job. But I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know you! These girls are all awesome and it's wonderful that you jumped in to get to become friends with them all :grouphug:

Jen-thinking about you tons, hope that your house situation gets resolved as quickly and easily as possible!!
LL-You can do it girl!! Just sit down with all your Disney stuff and breath in and out...you got this!! Like Jen said, keep track of all your future goals you have planned out and take it one step at a time! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Jess! I just need vacation. Only 23 days until vacation from work and 28 days until Disney!! I can do it.

Hi, Gnomies! This week is kicking my tail, and it's only Wednesday! For some reason, this has been a rough start to the school year this year. I just feel like crying.

I am with you, LL! I need a vacation! Sadly, I am only a week into being back to work from having a nine week vacation. :sad2:

I am with you, CP. In fact I somewhat randomly burst into tears in the grocery store this afternoon. Not a good week. At all. :sad2: Two months to vacation....

Yep, as soon as my planning started today, I had a good cry with the door of my classroom shut.

Makes you wonder if the stars are out of whack or something with so many of us having a bad week.

I told Charles I was DISing tonight to make myself feel better. It's better than going and buying a Disney Dooney and Bourke purse which was my other option.

Is it sad that I am looking forward to the Labor Day weekend and that's how many weeks away???

I wonder... maybe the universe is conspiring against us. I'm sure the people in the grocery store thought I was nuts. I can't even really explain it. It's not one thing, it's just EVERYthing. :sad2:

It has to get better, though... right????

Yikes LL, CP and C!! Sorry you are all having a craptastic time right now!!

My internet has been off and on since we came home on Monday, I have called and troubleshooted (troubleshot? :confused3) with our service provider 3 times in the last 2 days and it's still acting funny. I'm so far behind on my subscriptions now, I don't even know where to begin to catch up!

Parts of Iowa have gotten over 10 inches of rain in the last 4-5 days and are experiencing record flooding. The town I grew up in is currently an island with no way in or out due to closed roads and this afternoon they shut down the water systems because of contamination so not only is the water not safe for drinking/cooking but there is no pressure to allow for other uses (such as bathing and flushing). this on top of the 100+ degree heat index we have going on!! Luckily we are currently safe and dry in our home. I called my parents to see if there was any way for them to get out of town to our house until the water came back on but they seem to not be worried about it. Their house is reasonably high but they do have a couple inches in their basement from the drain backing up.

You're right -- it isn't just one thing, it's everything all together!

Oh, no, Katie! How scary! Hope your parents are okay until things return to normal!

I'm right there with you C & Jackie. In fact, I was in tears last Thursday at my desk at work for NO REASON. I think I'm just way overwhelmed with everything.

 to everyone!

Stupid universe. Stupid everything. :upsidedow Don't they know things are supposed to go smoothly for the gnomies??

64 days til vacation... can I make it??

Oh my gnomies...group hug :grouphug: It was another rollercoaster type of day....up one minute, down another, up one minute...I take that back it wasn't a rollercoaster it was more like the Tower of Terror...this up and down of my emotions is just not cutting it and I felt like I was going to breakdown in tears one minute and jump for joy the next!!! What is going on...this week just can't give any of us a break!!!! Well all the happy thoughts I can muster is being sent to you very fine ladies!!

LL, yep, I understand completely!

C, you will make it! I am sure of it! :goodvibes

Jen, here's hoping you don't have another Tower of Terror day -- let's hope it's calmer...like it's a small world!

Well, I am not sure if today will be any better. My day started with girls drinking Crown Royal out of a Coke bottle in the 8th grade girls' bathroom. Lovely, huh?

8th grade!!??? Oh my. Isn't Chelsea in 8th grade now? Yikes! Keep her away from those troublemakers.

Here is to a better day, Gnomies!!

Hey gnomies! Wishing everyone an it's a small world kind of day!!

CP- That is so crazy! Aren't 8th graders like 13 years old? When I was 13 I thought it was cool if I got to drink a soda with my lunch!

:confused3 Q: DF and I are looking for ways to save money on our road trip so I was wondering if anyone has tips for foods we can pack in the cooler. We know we will bring sandwich fixings but other then that we are kinda stumped. We are hoping to only eat out once a day for the first 3 days on the road and same for the 2 days back. Thanks ladies! :worship:

Chelsea is in the 8th grade with these girls! :scared1:

It was actually one of her sweet friends that told me there were girls drinking in the bathroom, and that the coke bottle was in the trash. Sure enough, when I pulled the bottle out and smelled it, there was no mistaking what had been in it. Cleared my sinuses right up!

The girl who brought it has now been suspended for the rest of the year. :sad2:

That's right -- most of them are 13! Can you believe it??? My daughter is 13 and still watches Phineas and Ferb -- it's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that other girls are apparently having much different "life experiences."

We usually pack things like trail mixes, oatmeal cookies, bananas, apples, etc. Stuff that doesn't make a huge mess and is easy to eat.

I really can't believe that, Jackie! My goodness. The kids seem to be starting all that kind of stuff younger and younger. :scared1: Has the kid who was suspended been in trouble before or does your school have a no tolerance policy?? I'm just curious.

Another night at school. 10PM can't get here soon enough.

WOW that is crazy Jackie...and the first week of school...what was that girl thinking....goodness what a way to throw away your life real quick!!! Ughh and so young too...

Hmmm...great travel foods, we love to have Chex Mix with us!

Holy crap Jackie!! In 8th grade?! Man..I hope your school year starts off much better than it has been!
Jen-Hang in there with the house, hope it settles quickly!
C/LL-I hear you girls. All was going well, until I found out that Blake got hit with a no trespassing violation while he was fishing the other day and come to find...it's a class 1 misdemeanor! So he and I have been all upset about it lately...he has to hire a lawyer which will cost about $850 plus any fines they give him (up to $2500). He was actually in the right spot to fish, which the entire area is completely fish friendly, but then he stepped to the side to grab something of his he dropped and of course during those 30 seconds, a police officier who was mouthy and embarassing him in front of a female rookie he had with him, gave him the ticket. So his hearing isn't until Sept 14th, but obviously he's been stressing. He's already taken pictures and all, and the lawyer told him b/c his record is clean and he was obviously confused with signs and the friendly layout, his fine should be low, but I can't help but think that it could go toward his school loans or toward our vacation fund....so wish us luck on that one ladies...:confused3
AND...his stupid sister's wedding is this weekend. Please tell me this. If you have no money and know darn well that your mom and step dad who really have no money, but are trying to give you everything they can, would you gnomies have the following for your wedding: A wedding and reception for 250 people, a rehearsal dinner, 2 breakfasts, 2 bachelorette parties w/limos at each one, a spa night for mother daughter and a seperate spa night for all bridesmaids, a bridal luncheon, limo for the wedding and 2 bridal showers....

I just don't understand where all the money is coming from! I've already had to pay for my dress, alterations, part of the limo for the 1st bachelorette party...and it's taking up thursday, friday, saturday and sunday! Does she not realize we all work and can't take off all these days?! Ridiculous girl that does not understand the meaning of money :headache:

Ok..rant over. ;)
Kels-Blake and I always pack trail mix (the fruit and nut kind), seperate pieces of fruit, granola bars, yogurt...little veggie and dip singles or apples/caramel...all kinds of options :goodvibes
