I have never seen the cowboy scene on the Great Movie Ride before and I would really like to.

Do they run this every day or only at the busiest times?

Does anyone know if it should be running tomorrow and if so, how do I go about asking to see it?

No way to know when they will do both scenes really.

Just ask the CMs if they are doing Cowboy and they will accommodate you (you may have to wait a little extra).:)

Exactly what WEDWDW said. We hadn't seen the cowboy scene in a couple years and younger DS didn't remember it, so we asked the CM at loading if we could possibly catch that one. They just held us for the 2nd set of cars (seats? whatever) Worst that can happen is that they aren't performing the cowboy scene that day :) I had heard it only happened during "busy" times but this all occurred during a "slow" time (a few years ago......when Disney still had slow times lol).

They don't seem to have a sure fire way to know they are running the cowboy scene or not. I've heard that CMs at the GMR who do the Cowboy scene have to by fireworks safety certified because of the special effects used in that scene. Not sure if that is true or not but it would make sense why they don't run that scene as much.

I have seen it and as PP said I just asked at the front and they had me step aside until the care they could guarantee me cowboy.

LOVE the cowboy scene, so much better than the other!

I thought the deciding factor was whether you're in the front or back set of vehicles, since the front one goes on to the western scene while the back one is held at the stop light for the gangster scene.

If they aren't running both scenes they only send 1 car at a time.

1st set goes to the cowboy scene the second set to the gangster scene. Usually if they are running one scene its the gangster. I have noticed that they fill up the back car and leave the front empty.

Maybe they switch it up, but that's been my experience.

In all my years of going (since the park opened) I think I've only had the cowboy scene twice. Love it, wish they would do it all the time and make the gangster on the standby one. By the way, I love the new movie they show, a lot more time spent on each star/genre. I went twice in one trip a couple of weeks ago and have yet to see the whole thing. I would love to just be able to cop a squat and watch that.

Stand in the back of the theater (queue) and watch.
