GMF - time & when do rides open?

Does GMF start 1 hour before the park opens or is it earlier than that? Also if you do GMF are you able to access any of the rides/attractions earlier than the official park opening time? TIA

For the GMF breakfast you enter the park an hour earlier than normal opening. As soon as you have eaten your breakfast you can then go and enjoy the rides - only the ones in Fantasyland - before the park officially opens to everyone else. My son and I had Dumbo to ourselves twice!

Of course, many days there is now early entry 2 hours before the park opens.

I am staying at the NPB and Santa Fe and it is not clear to me whether I need to pay for GMFL or not. I know there is a meal upgrade you can pay for, but do I need to pay for the basic meal?

Second question: When do they start the FL rides?

If the meal is no extra cost and they start the rides before regular park hours, it seems to me like a no-brainer that all DLP hotel guests should use GMFL. Comments?

No, you don't. The breakfast is ONLY available to those staying at certain hotels and it is free. No money changes hands at all.

In my experience the rides don't open until about half an hour before the Park does. Only about 4 rides have been open each time. This is at low season though - may be different other times of the year.

I guess that some people don't find out about GMFL breakfast. I know some people prefer a more leisurely start to the day and don't want to wait until they get to the Park to have their first coffee! We always ask for GMFL - we see it as a really great start to the day.

It's the Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfast But unfortunately you can't take advantage of it, as you're staying at Davy Crockett Ranch.

It stands for Good Morning FantasyLand and it is a free extra available to people staying in some of the Disney hotels.
Instead of eating your breakfast in your hotel you go straight to the Park. You are allowed to enter one hour before the general public and are directed to FantasyLand where you have your breakfast in either Pizzeria Belle Notte or Chalet au Marionette. You may then stroll through FantasyLand until the Park opens to the public. Up to 4 of the rides may already be running and you can ride without queuing. You may see a character or 2 getting ready for opening and may have a photo and autograph opportunity, again without queuing.
Well, that's how it's always worked for us.

I know this is Europe, but for heaven's sake DLP doesn't even open until 10AM when I will be there. That means GMFL at 9AM. I hope all the European visitors think it is too early and stay back at their hotels for their coffee. I am accustomed to getting 7-8AM starts at the American parks so this means I can sleep late and still do GMFL.

Did you book direct with Disney? If so, I would give them a ring and ask them to add it on to your booking now (you may also have to fax the request). Places are limited and may be gone if you wait till check-in to inquire about it.

We're even lazier!! We sauntered in Fantasyland at 9.30, just as the rides were opening and went for breakfast after that, as the restaurant was then less crowded!!

There are only so many tickets available each day which is why not everyone does it. I would advise you phone to book if not ask wehn you check in.

You say the park opens at 10.00. Is there EMH those days? If so people will be heading into the parks at 8.00.
From what I remember from Easter when EMH started at 8.00 no one seemed to be entering earlier for GMF or anything so I think it may be that on EMH days you dont get to ride any earlier than other guests.

Hmm, I never thought about the time of eating brekkie, cos a 9am breakfast is quite late for us as we usually eat at about 7.30/8.00, I will have to keep a few snacks to keep kids happy. We're only having it on 1 of the 2 mornings we'll be there anyway, so it'll be worth the try I guess.
