Hi everyone!

The countdown is on for our November trip! However, since our last trip to the world I've had to start eating gluten-free. I've been doing research and it seems like I shouldn't have any trouble finding food wherever we happen to dine. I was just wondering if anyone had specific meals that they've really enjoyed?

Our TS plans include...
California Grill
50's Prime Time
Flying Fish
Le Cellier
Tony's
Narcoossee's
Yak & Yeti

I'm assuming I'll have good options with our TS choices but was also hoping for some good QS suggestions. If you have any favorite menu items I'd love to hear them! Thanks! :-)

Of your choices, we have only been to 2 of them, Tony's and Y&Y. We have had mixed experiences at Tony's. My daughter was able to get spaghetti and meatballs both times, but the 1st time the meatballs were as hard as rocks, simply awful! The 2nd time ( a year ago) the meatballs were good. We have eaten at Y&Y twice in the past year and my daughter enjoyed her meals immensely!

Thanks Denine!

Tony's is my biggest concern for options. We're traveling with a group and this was the only TS option for our party size that would fit into our schedule and allow us to eat prior to MVMCP. Might just have to stick with a salad and then have more room for some sweet treats later!

I had a much easier time eating good GF with QS than I did with TS the last time I went. We did almost all character buffets for our TS, it was such a pain in the neck and I did not get enough to eat at a couple of the buffets...Biergarten (why did I eat here when I don't like sausage?), 1900PF (dinner, took forever to get seated, just meh all around, not enough GF carbs available), breakfast at Hollywood and Vine (I think I ate only scrambled eggs...it sucked, but my kids were insane for the characters so that made it ok...mostly). It would have helped if I was not so picky about what kind of meat I like. I felt like I was not getting enough carbs for all the walking we were doing. I did not ever ask for any special GF items and I was not ever offered any. I don't eat those things at home so it didn't really occur to me. Honestly I'd feel very awkward even requesting them, I really hate discussing food issues. So, for me, QS was very simple, I read menus ahead of time and researched what should be available, then ordered that. Usually I was handed one of those buzzers that lit up when my food was ready.

I will say this...one QS castmember asked me if it was hard to eat GF...I just said, "It's better than being sick..." and inwardly I thought about how much easier it was to plan out where to eat GF than it was to plan out where all the bathrooms are...and make it to them on time even if I was in line for a ride...

QS that I can remember:
Tangieriene Cafe in EP - I would avoid if you have celiac. They did not understand what gluten is...and my husband explained it to them in Arabic...

The QS in the American place in EP - really easy to get a burger on a GF bun, pretty sure I got fries.

Sunshine Seasons in EP - We went there, I looked at all the food windows and all the prepackaged food, felt totally overwhelmed about what I could eat or not, and left to eat somewhere else. If I were a little more willing to discuss my food issues in public, I'm sure I could have found something. I've eaten here before being GF and it was just ok, anyway.

Toy Story Pizza Planet in HS - Very easy GF pizza, tasty, pretty quick.

Columbia Harbor House in MK - I can't remember what I ate here but it was quick, easy, and GF. Probably chicken strips? Pretty sure i got fries, too.

Cosmic Ray's - very easy to get a burger with a GF bun. I can't remember about the fries.

For resorts, we stayed at POR and it was a HUGE pain in the neck to get GF QS. I asked about it and the castmember told me they'd have to get the chef and it would take 20 minutes just for him to show up, etc. I have read about others having a good experience but I did NOT and I was glad that I packed breakfast for myself. Maybe if I made a stink about how it would make me sick, etc., but I think there are a lot of people who are dabbling in GF as a trend and people don't want to bother.

Recently I read that AK has some sort of junk food items available that are GF, at an "allergy kiosk." I'd love to try it if we can fit it in.

We had GF Mickey waffles at CBR and we went back repeatedly for the OMG It's Gluten Free chocolate chip cookies. They said they also had brownies and cupcakes but I stuck with the cookies.

At Columbia Harbour House I had a salad with chicken. It was good, but I was hoping for something a little more. I know they had seafood options, but I'm not a fan of seafood. I also had a salad with chicken at Restaurantasaurus. Flame Tree BBQ was my first choice, but we hit a snag trying to find safe food for the kids and had to go to Restaurantasaurus instead. It was good though.

I had the fried chicken at 50s Prime Time and it was really good. But apparently, you have to order it in advance as they don't keep the ingredients on hand. I was already talking to the chefs prior to our trip because of my kids' complicated allergies so I went ahead and ordered it. They had lots of other options though on the allergy menu they gave me.

Le Cellier I recall being pretty easy with doing gluten free. I've dined there both with and without being GF though so I can't recall exactly which dishes were safe. I think just about any of the meat dishes would be fine, but the sides may need to be altered.

Just about every place I went had gluten free bread and pasta as an alternative.

I've never made it over to try them, but POFQ has gluten free beignets. Someday I'll get there and try them.

I have never had a problem with ordering GF any where at Disney. I have been to Disney eating GF several times. I look forward to going to Disney because of how easy it is to find things to eat. At home we eat mostly organic, whole foods and little red meat. At Disney we are more relaxed. I have had great meals at California Grill and Le Cellier at both I have had the filet mignon. Raglan Road in DTD is my favorite place to eat the fish and chips are so good. I have visited the allergy kiosk at AK and gotten some cupcakes and doughnuts. For CS I have eaten at many places, Flame Tree BBQ, Pizzafari they have made me a sandwich with pizza crust, CS in China I have shrimp fried rice, many different CS have chicken tenders and fries that are good. We have stayed at CB, All Star Movies, and POP, never have I had a problem ordering food and I have found the Chefs to be great and more than willing to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions, at CS you will most likely have to wait 10-20 minutes for your food, but it will be safe to eat.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I will definitely call to see if I can add my food allergy to our dining plans and see if there's the need/option to order anything in advance. I'm really trying to plan in advance so that my meals won't need to inconvenience the rest of our group.

We are staying at POFQ so I'll definitely need to try the beignets!

Has anyone had any experiences eating at Food & Wine?

I am not gluten free, but my DH is, and we have lots of experience dealing with Disney with multiple food allergies. Of the places you are going, we have had favorable experiences at 50's Prime Time and Yak and Yeti. We have not been to most on your list. Le Cellier was our only bad experience, but it centered around black pepper and a waitress who would not accept our concern, not the food or chef. I don't recall what my husband ordered at these places, sorry! In general, we are happiest at table service restaurants ( as opposed to buffets or quick service). We do always get to speak to the chef, due to multiple food allergies. With the new allergy menus if the only issue you have is gluten free, you may not see a chef at every restaurant. I try really hard to read all menus before we visit, to make sure there is something that can at least be adapted to meet the needs of everyone in our group. Other favorites for gluten free have been Trails End (a buffet, but the chef served my DH and ODD multiple courses personally), Grand Floridian Cafe, Sunshine Seasons (DH had a quinoa salad), Whispering Canyon Cafe, Tokyo Dining. You will have a great trip!

First, go here: http://www.glutenfreedairyfreewdw.com

WDW has started rolling out dedicated allergy menus at many restaurants, both table service and quick service which will make it easy for you to identify what is safe for you.

I'm actually here right now with my husband and we are both gluten free... It's been wonderfully easy. Today we ate at Columbia Harbour House and both had chicken tenders but they had salmon and a salad also. We also had dinner at Be Our Guest and each had potato leek soup and shared the ratatouille. They also provided gluten free rolls for us, although they were very dry (common among gluten free breads) although they were warm.

Yesterday we ate at our resort quick service at AKL The Mara. I had the African Stew and my husband had a gluten free BBQ chicken flatbread pizza which had a delicious crust. We've had one breakfast there and they made special mickey waffles for our bounty platters.

Tomorrow is Sci-Fi Dine-In for lunch and I'm not sure what for dinner.

I'll try to update with the different quick service entrees we order if I remember to check back here on the Dis...we're here for 9 nights so we'll be eating a nice variety.

You won't go hungry being gluten free, and you won't have to have all salads or chicken tenders either! Desserts and snacks around the parks are limited but not impossible to find.

Every restaurant and QS place now has a Food Allergy menu. If you are gluten free only you will be able to order off of these menus without a problem. If you have any questions, always ask for a chef or manager at QS. You will definitely have plenty of options. My son has multiple food allergies and we have traveled to Disney A LOT. No place is better.

I'm leaving for my 4th trip o disney this weekend. my 3rd time since I found out I have celiac disease and have to be gluten free. I agree with the above poster that there is no place better. I just let them know in advance and I dont have to worry too much about it. Ive only had great experiences! We are staying at POFQ for the firs time and I am psyched to have the beignets!!

Just wanted to add that Disney Springs now has Babycakes!

Disney is fantastic for gluten free! I wish we had that many options back home. I've never had an issue speaking with the chefs or servers and they have all been very accommodating. There are some threads on the disabilities board on GF and different restaurants.

A highlight for us was the gluten free naan ans Sanaa. Not easy to find...

Flying Fish and Yak & Yeti were great with my gluten issues!

Haven't tried any of the other restaurants. Y&Y doesn't have an actual allergen menu but the chef does come out and asks what you're looking at and he'll modify the dish

Please note that the allergy-free menus aren't comprehensive for every allergy, and the chef will always come talk to you if requested. My mom is GF and on a recent trip certain items weren't listed as GF on the allergy menu, but the waitstaff mentioned they were GF or could easily be made GF and weren't listed because they contained another allergen (dairy, nuts, etc). It seems in order to conserve space on the allergy-free menu, most dishes listed are free of multiple allergens, so don't think those are necessarily your only options. The only one on your list that we've dined at since my mom stopped eating gluten was California Grill, but it was amazing. Their filet was GF an absolutely to die for.

I want to pile on to all the other commenters noting how amazing Disney is with allergy dining. On our first trip with my mom GF, we were celebrating my birthday. 3 restaurants brought out a free treat for my birthday, and each of them brought out an additional GF treat for my mom so she wouldn't be left out of the celebration. At the Crystal Palace I even enjoyed her GF brownie they brought more than my cupcake!
