Help! Do you know where I can find gluten free/nut free/soy free (and meat free) snacks in the parks? I know they have French Meadow and Enjoy Life products around... I just don't know where to look!

ALSO, we're planning 1 TS meal for lunch or dinner each day of our trip (probably lunch to get us out of the heat). Any suggestions on TS places with awesomely nice chefs that will work with our allergies? I know they ALL will.... but I also know that some are nicer (and more accommodating) than others. The ONLY ressie that I have that I'm pretty comfortable with is The Wave- the chef has CALLED me!

I just found out that we're gluten free, nut free, and soy free. So... out the window goes Via Napoli (unless they can make us a GF pizza????? a girl can wish, can't she?) And since we're soy-free, I'm rethinking my ressie at Jiko.

Any suggestions? Should I plan on bringing my own bread to give to the chefs? We can only have Udi and Rudi white breads because we can't have flax either.

You can't bring in food for the chefs to prepare. You can bring bread, but the chefs can not do anything with it.

Most counter service locations have Divies and/or French Meadow brownies. We have gotten them at the Values and at WL.

From what I have heard Via Napoli is not gluten free friendly. And according to Special Diets, WDW does not have a soy free cheese for pizza. They have regular cheese or dairy free(soy based).

I'm only peanut/soy/meat free. That being said, I had a really nice breakfast at Kouzzina with Chef George (eggs scrambled with feta and spinach and then he fried me up some potato wedges in a separate pan, using olive oil).

Also, Mama Melrose with Chef Christian was one of the best meals I've had at WDW. You'd probably be fine with the app (tomato/mozzarella stacks) but the veggie option was pasta so I'm assuming that had gluten. I don't know what their gluten free options might be.

Most of my other meals were pretty gluten heavy, unfortunately. I will say that if you like breakfast food, sometimes a late breakfast reservation works well as an early lunch.

Oh and for snacks, I found yummy fruit cups at MK ad DHS. Also, the WDW brand potato chips (in the single serve bags) were soy free.

I agree that Mama Melrose is tremendous! Chef Frank worked with us for a gluten-free meal and was just outstanding. They have rice pasta, so could probably handle everything. One warning though, they are really hard to get into without an ADR, or at least they were in June even at 3 in the afternoon.

Thanks for the tip!!! :thumbsup2

I haven't been yet, gluten free. But the chef called me from Via Napoli and they will NOT have gluten free pizza and stated that even though they will have gluten free pasta to make, they can't guarantee that there won't be cross contamination. They use an open air kitchen and flour and stuff may be in the air. So you would have to decide if this would be a possibility you are willing to take. Good luck!. I'll be there in 10 days, so I will let everyone know how my experience is after that.

WOW... thanks for checking!!

I cancelled my ressie there this past weekend because I was afraid that there was a cross-contamination issue. I hope they do a good job for you!!! :goodvibes

Hi there!

I am gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free (because I am vegan and celiac). My mom is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free. I started a post about my experience but have been so busy!

Do you still want recommendations? Am I too late?

If you haven't already, check out babycakesNYC (at the Downtown Disney)...

http://www.babycakesnyc.com/allergies.html

They explain their allergen policy. Depends on how comfortable you are with
1) their process to eliminate x-cont of gluten in the kitchen
2) coconut (We are peanut allergic and avoid tree nuts, but we do not avoid coconut (technically the seed of a drupaceous fruit). other people with nut allergies do avoid coconut at the advice of their allergist, ours is ok with coconut.) See FAAN commonly asked questions for tree nut allergies - http://www.foodallergy.org/page/tree-nut-allergy
3) gluten free flours potential x-cont with tree nut flours and soy (again, we use Bob Redmill flours and they have a similar procedure with machine washing and dumping a large number of poundage. We aren't "technically" allergic to tree nuts (although we avoid them) and so we are comfortable with this procedure. Others might not be and everyone's comfort zone is different.)

However, if after looking everything thing over, you find you are comfortable....
babycakes is in the Fresh A Peel building at Downtown Disney with a bakery case. We plan on picking up some items to use for snacks during our visiting in November (we are also allergic to egg and my boys have never ever been in a bakery where they were able to pick out anything).

They are also supposedly going to start having their cakes (and possibly other desserts?) available for delivery to WDW Restaurants to eat with your meal.

I received the following email in response to my inquiry for details from Emily (General Manager of the Orlando store, email found on babycakes website)

"Thank you so much for getting in touch! While we are still hashing out some details with the Disney ordering process, everything should be up and running soon! You will be able to request a cake from BabyCakes NYC along with your dining reservation! We are also offering cupcakes, doughnuts, cookies, and brownie bites to guests dining within Walt Disney World.

Are you planning a visit sometime soon? I would be more than happy to keep your name and e-mail address on file and contact you as soon as the ordering process is set up, please just let me know if you're interested!

Thanks again for getting in touch! We are very excited to be offering our desserts at Walt Disney World restaurants".

Hope this helps.

My son is gluten free, peanut/tree nut free, soy free, milk free... and a few other oddities (bell peppers and vanilla) free. He was not a huge meat eater at our last trip although did eat some. We had great experiences at Mama Melrose, Ohana (big meat place though), Le Cellier, and Chef Mickeys as far as FANTASTIC chefs coming out and being super amazing! Now clearly he had the palate of a 4 year old... not an adult... but many of the meals he was made *I* thought were fantastic too!!

As for snacks... we actually brought a lot of our own... but he did enjoy fresh fruits, potato chips, french fries, and Dole fruit bars.

In MK the Mainstreet Bakery had a lot of the French Meadows and Divvies products... but honestly I remember seeing them ALL over the place too that is just the one place I know I saw them.

Awesome, thanks for your input! Chef Dylan called from The Wave- we need to call him back still to talk to him. It's so cool that the chefs are so accommodating. :goodvibes
