Hey all! I've just returned from a short run at WDW (2/10-2/14), and wanted to share some of my experiences with the disABILITIES gang for thought and suggestions and all that good stuff. :)

Here's a list of all the places I ate and the GF foods that were given;
2/11
- Breakfast at CRT. Had GF waffles, huge bowl of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, melon) and scrambled eggs. Was also given gf muffins, one blueberry and one chocolate! Met the chef, who was happy to give me more strawberries in the fruit bowl than anything because I absolutely love strawberries, haha!
- Snack at Gasparilla Grille. Had french fries, and they were OUTSTANDING. Best fries I've had on-site, period. Met a manager named Mike who explained everything to me, and was one of the nicest CMs I met during my stay, that I went back and double-thanked him for his time.
- Lunch at Grand Floridian for Afternoon Tea. All sandwiches were done on GF bread, but the fillers themselves were kind of stale and gross (as if they'd been prepped in containers way ahead of time, ick.) Was given baby cakes lemon bread and carrot bread in place of scones, and strawberries and cream for dessert minus the monogram logo (because that's got gluten in it, boo!) No chef came out here.
- Dinner at Be Our Guest. Was provided with standard GF rolls, then ordered the potato leak soup, and rotisserie chicken with asparagus and roasted potatoes. I wasn't feeling too well that evening (the richness of the potato leak soup sort of pushed me over), so I skipped nibbled on dinner and took it home, skipping dessert. Met the chef here, too, and he was very accommodating.

2/12
- Breakfast was skipped…
- Snack was at Landscape of Flavors, and was GF pizza with spinach and tomatoes. 'twas delicious!
- Lunch at Beaches and Cream. Had a cheeseburger and fries, both of which were okay. Dessert was a banana and peanut butter bread with vanilla ice cream, and the dessert far beat the lunch. Met the manager, she was very helpful in explaining what was okay and not okay to eat, and what could be modified.
- Dinner at Landscape of Flavors. Had GF pasta with chicken, spinach, mushrooms, and tons of broccoli with a piece of GF toast that was possibly garlic bread. The pasta was mindblowingly delicious, the bread was meh. Met a female chef here, and along with the pasta I had a strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry smoothie to go with it that was yummmm!

2/13
- Breakfast was skipped in the name of meeting Anna & Elsa this morning. :(
- Lunch was at Liberty Inn. Had a chicken sandwich with the red pepper aioli on the side, and french fries. Fries were fine, the chicken sandwich was dry and boring. But the service was good.
- Dinner was at Lunching Pad. Ate a cheeseburger and fries. This was one of my least favorite meals all around, but the service was good like Liberty Inn, and they were able to give me tomatoes and lettuce from the pack out of worry for cross-contamination concerns.
- Late night-snack was at Landscape of Flavors, and was GF pizza with extra cheese, tomatoes, and spinach. Delicious both hot and cold, as I saved some for the next day to munch on.

2/14
- Breakfast was Landscape of Flavors, and I had GF French Toast with strawberries and blueberries. Flat out delicious, I'm still craving it.

The Good;
- Almost every place I went to was incredibly accommodating to the point where I felt loved head to toe. Be it a chef or a manager, practically every one was considerate and polite and made sure to get everything right before they left.
- The food was delicious to the point where I didn't even notice it was GF food. I was worried the switch would leave me without certain things, but I was so wrong about that!

The Cons;
- While many places offer GF alternatives of their normal foods, many others don't, and it made me incredibly upset. Places like Sleepy Hollow and the Ice Cream Parlor come instantly to mind. During my trip I had wanted a fresh waffle from SH, but they don't have a separate spot for GF waffles, or even had GF batter. Knowing from experience that it isn't hard to make GF batter for pancakes and waffles, this burned me a bit. Same with the Ice Cream Parlor- imagine kids who can't have gluten want a mickey cone with those little chocolate wafers for the ears, but they can't have them… why not have some gf ones made? Another place that comes to mind is CRT with their French Toast. If Landscapes can make me GF French Toast, CRT should be able to. Heck, they even do Tonga sliders at Kona Cafe to replace the Tonga toast!
- The buns are super dry, to the point where I was slathering them in ketchup and mayo just to make it easier to eat. This isn't on Disney, just on the buns themselves.
- Wait times can be a bit much. I know it's to be expected, and for the most part I was okay with waiting, but occasionally when the wait was nearing at 20-30 minute time for something like a cheeseburger and fries, I started to make frowny faces.

So did I miss anything superb in WDW that's GF and delicious?! I want to keep a list of potential future eats when I return in October. ;)

CRT waffles- were they Mickey? Or were they the frozen Van's?

I do ADR's in 10 hours and if CRT added allergy mickey waffles that is going to happen this trip.

I get what you're saying about every place making everything GF, but it's also easy to make everything egg free, everything dairy free, everything nut free... they aren't going to stock ten different little wafers. I would find it much more frustrating if my DS could have a regular or GF wafer, knowing that the GF wafer was still going to have something else he couldn't have. (I suspect egg or dairy) GF is far from the only special dietary concern they are dealing with.

They were frozen Vans waffles, the same I had at Akershus when I did the princess breakfast in May 2013, too. I'd love for them to use Mickey waffles there, heck- they would be a fantastic treat!

You're right about the fact that it's easy to make certain things _____-free. I guess I was frustrated more or less about it in the moment, if that makes sense. My next trip I plan on taking things with me to make everything more 'normal' since Disney doesn't cover all the gaps yet on certain things, like the wafers and ice cream cones in a GF way. This way I'll still be able to have things a way I'm content with, and enjoy my time with what is also provided for me.

I will say this, though; I felt like flat-out-royalty in Landscapes when I had food made. Best food overall from everywhere, period. I'd happily eat breakfast/lunch/dinner there every day on any future stay.
