My 7 year old son is a coeliac, meaning he is on a gluten free diet, can't eat, gluten, wheat, barley, oats etc
Does anyone have any advice. or know of any places to eat to take out food. (bearing in mind he is only 7!) Both in and outside of Disney.
even if it is just where we can buy a gluten free ice cream or chips he will be over the moon!:yay:
thanks

Hi, Welcome to the Disboards :yay:

I don't have any personal experience with Gluten free diets but here are some threads done by others who have gone to Disney and given reviews of restaurants and how they dealt with a Gluten free diet.

This thread has an email address of someone at Epcot who can answer questions about food/special diets

This last one is a gluten free dining review:

I think Disney can be very accommodating re special dietary needs. I hope you find all the info you need and have a magical time at Disney! :goodvibes

I think that you will find that Disney World is the best place to be on a gluten free diet! If you get in touch with Brenda Bennet, or anyone of the people at WDW Food and Beverage they will get you a list of all of the gluten free counter service options, and snacks available (Mickey Mouse Premium ice cream bars are everywhere and they are gluten free and a favorite of my children!) The sit down restaurant service is excellent too, just let them know you need gluten free food when you make your reservation. We have done WDW 4 times since being diagnosed with Celiac and we have always gotten safe (and usually excellent) food to eat!

As for restaurants outside of WDW, I believe that in Orlando there are a few food chains with Gluten free food (check websites for Outback Steakhouse, PF Changs, Chipotle, Bonefish Grill, Carabas). The website for the Gluten Free Restaurant Awareness Program (GFRAP) has a great listing of places that are safe to eat.

Enjoy your trip!

I can't speak for outside of Disney, but when you're on property, your son will be very happy with what the chefs are willing to do for him! Whether it's gluten free pasta or even dinner rolls, every meal my mom had (she's the one with celiac) was wonderful! When getting counter service, ask to see the book with the list of the ingredients, each location should have one. If worse comes to worse, just ask to talk to the manager and they will be able to help you out!

Enjoy your trip! :)

You will find Brenda Bennett's name and email link on one of the links posted by Booknut. My doctors thought that I had celiac, I contacted Brenda and had an email from her within minutes with all of the information needed. It turns out after all sorts of testing that my problem is dairy and not celiac, she was also able to help with that information also. Good luck, there will be plenty for him to choose from at disney.

I am so glad that this is being answered as my grandson has food allergies and we are not sure what yet so have eliminated gluten, dairy, soy... and believe me it is not easy. So I will be watching this post so that when he gets bigger and Nanie can get him to WDW, I will know where to eat and what to eat.

Thanks OP and thanks to the posters who are giving the information..
