Has anyone ever been able to order a GF b'day cake from one of the restaurants or resorts? I asked over on the restaurant board and my thread ended up merged with the cake thread and now is buried and not being answered:mad:

Anyhow--DS (turning 11) will be having his b'day dinner at the Cali. Grill and I was wondering if they have the ability to make a GF cake for him? I of course would pay for it and order ahead of time, but was wondering if anyone knew if this was possible.

We would also be happy with having a GF cake delivered to our room via room service if that would be a better/easier way. We've done the b'day cake thing through room service but prior to our GF days. We are staying in the Beach Club Villas.

We ordered a peanut-free cake at LTT, and the chef said it also happened to be gluten-free. So I think it's very possible you could still get a gluten-free cake. My guess is when you make a request concerning food allergens or specific dietary restrictions, they use a cake mix that is free of many of the common allergens.

You can get a 6" gluten free, dairy free, peanut free, treenut free, frosted cake just about anywhere. It's $30 as I recall, and comes in chocolate or white. They're made offsite and delivered and required 72 hours notice. Custom gluten-free cakes aren't available.

(That's current as of June, 2009)

Hi I called the cake hotline number and went to the yachtsman line and they connected me directly to the head bakery chef. I was able to get a cake that was gluten milk and egg free. It was pretty good. It was delivered to our table by our waiter. yes I ordered it about 2 weeks ahead of time and they said I could call to check to make sure everything was OK 2 or 3 days ahead of time. Unfortunately with a 22 month old litlle girl the 2nd phone call never happened. However everything was just fine and they even wrote Happy Birthday Daddy on our menus.

You would be surprised what they can come up with. Just call ahead of time as they do not keep everything in stock all of the time.:wizard:

The Boardwalk Bakery makes gluten-free cakes and cupcakes. My sister has ordered them many times in the past and they are quite tasty! Usually they only need a day or two in advance to order, so depending on when you need the cake for you can either call them up ahead of your trip or go visit the bakery when you get there (which is a short walk from the Beach Club Villas). I am not sure about their ability to deliver it to the room, because we have always gone to pick it up ourselves. I also have no experience with the getting a cake for a meal, so I can't help you there. Sorry!

They offered us several different types of cakes and frostings when we ordered our cupcakes/cakes in the past. My sister really likes the chocolate cake/chocolate frosting one the best. However, we have also had chocolate cake/vanilla frosting, yellow cake/vanilla frosting, yellow cake/chocolate frosting, and a spice cake with cream cheese frosting which is almost like a carrot cake. We've always enjoyed what we have gotten there.

Good luck!

This is exactly the kind of cake that I need for my DS who cannot have gluten, dairy, or eggs! I had no idea that Disney could accomodate this and we've dined at the world many times. :woohoo: We are going in just a little over a month and I would love to order this instead of flying with premade cupcakes from home. Would you be so kind as to tell me which number to call to request this? Thanks so much in advance!
