How easy is it to eat Gluten Free at DLR? Is Minnies breakfast and Goofys Kitchen good about providing GF alternatives? What about the counter services?? Or should I plan on brining a lot of my meals? My daughter is strict GF and has to be and we eat it 95% of the time just bc it is easier to at home since we have to for her so I don't want to load up on gluten since we aren't really used to having much now!

thanks!!

There is another recent thread on here about this, but I don't know how to link it (when I'm on my phone). Search for GF & it should come up. I've commented on it recently to.

Eating GF at DLR is very easy! We've had great experiences at Goofy's, Minnie's, and Surf's Up for character meals. I'm sure the others are great too, we just haven't eaten there since dd's celiac diagnosis.

We've eaten at Carnation Cafe, Cafe Orleans, and Paradise Grille (?) in DCA with ease. Turkey legs are GF. I think the only hard thing is that each restaurant has a different menu, so what is GF at each place is a bit different. DD also had the chef at one of the CS restaurants in NOS make her a special Caesar salad with dressing from scratch! Just ask at each place, and the mgr or chef will come talk to you :)

Yep, super easy. I have Celiac. My husband is a cast member, so we are at the parks often and almost always eat counter service. They have a manager/chef come out and take my order on a special notepad and then go back and cook it. There are always multiple options.

Have a great time, your daughter will be treated and fed like a princess!

Several tips:

If you have an iphone, download an app called "Gluten Free Disney Dining", it was an amazing resource for us during our 7 day stay in Disney. I think it costs $1.99, but well worth it.

With specialty dining always indicate, when you book, that one or more of the guests have a food allergy, and remind them at the entrance. You will get a visit from the chef on duty and they will go through your options.

When you want a quick service, just tell the server that you "have an allergy", they (for some odd reason) do not understand the words Gluten Free or Celiac. But every single one of them instantly responds to the word "Allergy", and they will always go to get a cook/chef.

Good GF food was available at almost every single place we ate at. Hot Dog's were good, buns for sandwich's were very good. GF deserts were yummy. It takes a little longer to get your meal, but you can be assured that they have made it from fresh ingredients and away from contamination.

Character meals were a delight, my 2 Celiac's both had an outstanding breakfast with Waffles, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, and some yummy caramel banana sauce for the waffles (ps the GF waffles were better than the non-GF versions).

Try Tortilla Joes in DDT, as the food was almost all GF, and was VERY, VERY yummy.

Several no go's.... La Brea Bakery, Wentzles Pretzels, Corn Dog Castle.

Just wanted to second what everyone else has been saying - Disney does a great job of dealing with allergies, particularly gluten-free. Just do a search on gluten in this forum, and you will be inundated with info. We had a great time at Goofy's Kitchen and Surf's Up, Big Thunder BBQ and Flo's V8 are favorites as well. My wife has Celiac, so we are always careful about gluten!
