My mom will be with us and she is on a gluten-free diet. She knows by now what to avoid, and I don't think it will be a problem for us to find gluten-free choices. What I want to know is whether there are any specific gluten-free items that Disney does well? Things like pastas, pastries or breads that she otherwise could not eat. Or maybe restaurants where she will have more choices than usual. Do you know if the Boardwalk Bakery serves any gluten-free items?

Thanks in advance for the input. Sorry for the repeat on the reservations board, I posted the same question there by accident.

I know they have gluten free mickey waffles and brownies thru out the part. I know they have them at Sunshine Seasons at Epcot.

Your mom shouldn't have any difficulties. Please make sure to note your reservations with your mom's special dietary needs. Also, ask to speak with the chef when you check in for your reservations.

Most table service restaurants will offer your mom tapioca dinner rolls with her meal. The restaurants that serve pasta can prepare a gluten free pasta as well. A few quick service locations serve gluten free buns for burgers and hot dogs. Some of my husband's favorite places to eat:

Tutto Italia, Yachtman's Steakhouse, Le Cellier, Citrico's, 50's Prime Time (they can make GF Fried Chicken & a GF Pot Roast), Whispering Canyon (they will make a GF cornbread to go with the canyon skillet), Liberty Tree Tavern -- almost every restaurant will be able to make her something that she will enjoy.

Boardwalk Bakery can prepare items gluten free, however, you need to give them advance notice (we have made requests 24 hrs ahead of time). They serve an individual portion sugar-free cheesecake that is also gluten free (at least it was in May) that is usually available without advance notice.

You can always email WDW Special Diets and they can help you with your Gluten Free planning - SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com

Have a great trip :goodvibes

Wow! Thanks so much. Do you know anything about the consistency of the GF buns or tapioca rolls? I'm mostly curious for myself because I find a lot of GF items to be heavy and fatty.

Anyway, thank you for answering my questions. She'll be psyched about all the options she will have.

DDIL thought the gluten free chocolate chip cookies and the brownies were very good. She also really liked the fried chicken at 50's PT. DS said her gluten free fried chicken was better than regular fried chicken. She felt the buns were good. She didn't eat anything that she thought was bad and didn't have any reaction to the food at Disney.
