We are tentatively planning a trip to WDW in April. I'm having a bit of an issue with it as my youngest daughter has celiac disease. For those who don't know, this requires a strict adherence to a gluten free diet-no wheat, barley, rye or malt. Are we going to have options at the park or should I just rent a fridge and plan on packing all her meals?

You'll have plenty of options. There is a person you can e-mail in advance--Brenda, I'm sure someone can give you her e-mail who will be able to give you specific info on each CS restaurant you are planning on visiting.

As far as the table service, you'll want to have the ADR noted, and call each in advance--72 hours is about right--and speak to the chef.

They can all accomodate with rice breads and pastas, grilled meat with no marinades, vinegar free salad dressings, etc. I do suggest bringing you own ketsup--this is one item that my Celiac friend had problems with.

The key is advance planning!

You can get gluten free pizza in all the parks, they just charge you more :furious: I did question this with them, both in the restaurant and guest relations, but got nowhere.
In the bake shop on Main St you can also get browines and cookies. I have found the chefs like to have a change and cook something different, :woohoo: in 1900 Park Fair last week I had a mushroom and truffle risotto, all gluten, wheat, peanut, banna and vegetarian.

We had a wonderful trip to Disney-we stayed at Coronodo Springs, a place I would HIGHLY reccomend for celiacs-they even have gluten-free brownies! You must contact the head chef in advance, and he will help you personally. We found that the Animal Kingdom Lodge chef at the buffet was exceedingly helpful also-he asked me what I like, and he made me my own dinner, from scratch-and a very elaborate one at that! Disney is very familiar with the allergy, and as long as you notify them in advance at the restaurants, they will go overboard to accomodate. A few warnings, though. Our worst experience was at Epcot-the restaurants there are not Disney owned, and many of the walk-up places were clueless, unhelpful, and downright rude. The two worst were in Morocco and Japan. You can contact the head chef for each park and hotel, and they will give you the best places to go, and the best things to order. You will get very tired of creme brulee for dessert.
We had absolutely no problem with dinner at the sit-down restaurants, but counter service could sometimes be a problem-again, the worst was Epcot. We were on the dining plan, so we spent a lot of time in restaurants! Hana, or whatever its name is, the restaurant everyone loves in the Polynesian, was outstanding, as was Le Cellier and California Grill. We did a character breakfast in the Crystal Garden (?) in the Magic Kingdom, and they had gluten free waffles, among other things. As long as it's a Disney owned restaurant, you will have no problem. Call ahead and you will be fine. :goodvibes
