Glow with the Show ears

I kind of like this idea, would be pretty cool to see an entire stadium full of these things all lighting up in sync with the show!

That was always the "idea" behind them.
When they were very first introduced, the ears were given away for free at Disneyland/DCA, and thousands of guests who attended the "World of Color" show wore them, all at once.
The whole theater area was alive with synchronized flashing of color.
There are YouTube videos of this.

But, alas, the price tag on the items when guests must buy them is very high (considering that most guests can't actually SEE the colors they are wearing,)
so most guests don't buy them. That means those who do have the items at the shows are few and far-between.

I do wish those things came with better instructions. I've yet to master exactly how they cause the blink pattern to change on others around you.
The one problem (if you want to call it that) with the made with color things at WDW, there aren't many users with them on so you don't have a huge display of color around you when they are in use. Some think that is a plus

Does the wand have 2 buttons? I have the paint brush from Disneyland 60th and it has 2 buttons. One you press to change the color on the paint brush and the other you use to "paint" so when you point at an ear hat or Minnie bows or other made with magic item and press the paint button it changes the color.

Yes.
Right, I knew it had 2 buttons but I can't figure out which does which
I haven't played with it enough. I could probably figure it out with enough testing

The 'pallet' button changes the wand colors/sequence
The 'magic wand' button changes whatever you are pointing at to the same colors as the wand

Thanks.
When does the event that the items sync with override this? Only during the actual show, like when F! is running? Not waiting while leading up to it?

Correct. During the Fantasmic! preshow, there is one point where they turn everything green, but after that (and before the show) you can change it back. They will 'reset' everything after it goes green, so once it does that you are back in control

I'm not sure how Epcot works, since I believe the ears are supposed to sync with the countries outside of Illuminations

Thanks.

Only during the shows does that override what you do and the wand should sink to the show as well.

I do wish Paint the Night had been like it was in Tokyo (or at least I think it was Tokyo) where the paint brushes were made so you could "paint" the parade floats and performers meaning the audience could change the colors as the float passed by them.

Cool. Thanks! We'll have to bring out our ears and wand when we go back in a couple of weeks. DGD will have a blast with it

Just an idea to get some extra use the wands actually work away from the parks and are such a fun way to play tag. We watched some people do it at Disneyland and then did it later ourselves not at the parks. The person who is it has the wand (or paint brush) and the people trying to get away wear the hat or minnie bow or whatever. Then the paint brush person has to turn the hats to a certain color to win. It is really fun to play at night.

Made With Magic are the current ears/wand being sold, and those work.
Glow With the Show are the older line, and the pair that I tried (in July) did not sync with the rest of the ears or change using the new wands
This bums me out because I was planning to bring my glow with show ears from November 2014, on our trip in 10 days. I will still bring them with me but it's sad that they won't sync with the show.

Originally it was was reported that they should still work, but that was 2 years ago. I might have just had a pair that didn't sync for whatever reason. Hopefully they still work for you!

I had also taken mine apart and refashioned them into a new pair of ears. It shouldn't have affected anything, but it's possible it did
