So here's the gig I am wanting to take about 10 glow stick like items. Ex: brackets, masks, necklaces, wands. Can I get away with putting them I to our carry-ons if I divvy them up and put them with our 311 bags(party of 5)?

*Dont want to check a bag, don't want to mail them, do t want to buy them locally once there. I understand these options already.

If their sealed in the manufacturing packaging, possibly..but I really don't think they will let you through with them being liquid.

If they aren't clearly marked as being 3.4 fl oz or less, they may be thrown away by the TSA agent. Or they may not. It's just a matter of luck. How important are they?

I've gotten glow sticks through in my carry on without having been in the 311 bag. I think it just depends on what agent sees your bag. I wasn't able to find a for sure confirmation on whether or not they were considered liquid so I figured I'd try my luck.

The are definitely a liquid.

Gee, I had a few packets of the bracelets in my carry on, and never gave it a thought that they'd count as liquids. They didn't stop me or say anything. I took them my last trip and the trip before that.

There's a really good chance that they'll get through without being noticed, but they'll get tossed if you get a particularly thorough agent.

I won't be bringing them this year. I have enough issues, because I cannot swallow pills due to my dysphagia, so I have all liquid meds, so they do look through my things. Not to mention that I once tested positive for explosives. :sad2:
I'm thinking it was because my personal item that I carried on, came from Bath and Body and probably had hand lotion all over it, which contains glycerin. Yeah, that was a fun time. :( Plus, I have an artery clip in my face.... I try hard not to make it worse for myself when it comes to going through security. Lol.

Make sure you have all the medications together and that you declare them.

Anyone can test positive for explosives; don't let it bother you too much, OK?

I'm totally with Alesia on this. They ARE liquid. I haven't seen any packaging that lists the oz/ml. And when in the packaging, I haven't yet been able to fit them into the 311 bag. Will anyone care about them? Probably not. Might they? Yes. If they notice them and they aren't marked with the amount of liquid or aren't in the bag, might they get tossed? They could.

For me, I brought dollar store glowsticks a few times (put in my checked bags b/c I didn't like the idea of losing my "great deal" on the sticks (we tend to get free checked bags thanks to DH's traveling half the year)), only to realize that the cheapies are duds half the time. There goes the great deal! I don't bother with them at all anymore.

I do, I keep, them in a ziplock bag, all together and let them know I have them. :)

Actually, it did bother me. A lot. I was taken to another room, and I was patted down, thoroughly. I did not like that one bit. I do not like to be touched and would really not have to do that again. :(

Lucky you got a room, In Newark airport its these little telephone sized boothes I'm not claustraphobic and i felt trapped.

Well Mata, your post it sounded like just testing positive bothered you. With extra issues of not liking to be touched, that definitely makes air travel hard. Anyone can be pulled aside for extra security at any time. I think the patdowns are funny (I get sweaty when nervous and feel sort of bad for the agents) but I don't do the "naked machines" so I'm routinely patted down.

You might strongly consider buying into the tsa precheck program. It's about $100 and can help to keep you from those situations, domestically at least. It's not a magic bullet but it can help.
