Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me!

I have the same type of pain, but on the left side. Tomorrow I am going for a therapuetic massage - I know it will probably hurt, but in the end I will hopefully feel better.

Good thoughts for both of us!! :goodvibes

I shouldn't hurt! There's a difference between a 'hurt so good' feeling and one of utter pain. Don't let the therapist kill you! There are ways of getting into the tissue slowly and gently. It's actually counter productive if it's causing pain. Your muscles then tense up and we can't work out the problems.

I hope you both feel better soon!

my suggestion is to go to the nearest mall that has a brookstone and sit on one of their massage chairs that they sell.. both my dh and i get those same sore muscle knots and finally caved and bought on of those chairs. they work WONDERS!! neither of us have complained in weeks!

I get these all the time. Usually from tension but sometimes I have no idea where they come from. Usually last about 3-5 days total. I do the tennis ball thing, I have the massager from Brookstone or something that looks like two b00bs rotating... :) Sorry I don't know what it's called.

Last call is a few nights with 4 advil and the heating pad works.

Good Luck. I have never had a professional massage and WOULD LOVE IT... DH claims his hands get tired after about 5 minutes and he jumps around too much. Go figure he plays xbox for hours and golfs a few days a week.... Oh well!

I get this too. Finally went to an orthopedic Dr., he gave me some pain meds and Celebrex! The celebrex was WONDERFUL! I only needed to take it for 3 days, after 1 1/2 days back to normal, the extra days were "insurance". I only took 1 pain pill.

I have a 2 year old and needed to be able to pick him up! I was Desperate!

I have been suffering from muscle spasms for years along with rheumatoid arthritis. I take muscle relaxers and pain pills for it.
A few months ago, I had one so bad that nothing worked. After 3 hrs of not being able to move my husband called an ambulance. I went to the er by ambulance. The only thing that relieved it was a muscle relaxer shot and a pain killer shot (can't remember the name). I felt like a miracle child after the two shots kicked in. :teeth:
I had no clue that muscle spasms could get so bad that you couldn't move.

bumcat,
I have RA too. I think it is related to the muscle spasms - all part of an inflammatory response. I got a depo-medrol (sp?) shot today. If it doesn't help I'll be back at the rheumatologist's office on Monday.

I've done the tennis ball and backed up to every corner in the house :p . I'm going to give the shot some time to kick in and see if it helps.

Thanks everyone! I'll let you know how it turns out!

This is too late now but for the future....

A co-worker told me about this years ago when I had a problem with bursitis. Nothing would touch the pain and she gave me some of those and by the next day the pain was gone. She said it was recommended by her Chiropractor.
