hey all!

In school today we talked about global warming.... i am just wondering who all belives in it or who doesn't. Personally, i am a strong believer that global warming does exist.... anyone else?

Saying "I believe in global warming" is like saying "I believe in air".

uh, yeah. its real.

Global warming is natural. totally 100% natural. It happened before homosapiens came about, and it will happen after we die.

Remember that ice age? Well, it warmed up after that, didn't it? It'll get cold again too. And yes, to that extent. We'll have another ice age.

Now, the whole issue is that people are messy. We manuipulate our enviornment and dont care about the consequences. think of people as a virus to the planet. We have acelerated the process by at least 1000 years. We're heading into the desert period.

Think of it like global seasons. right now we should be in spring, but we're headed into summer fast. The ice age was winter, the desert period is summer, and then we hit a cooler period, which would be fall.

So basically, we've screwed up a natural process and now we're paying for it.

Of course I do. But the problem is that most adults who are in control don't see it that way and aren't doing much in the way to help slow down the global warming process. Basically they're handing us their problems.

I believe in it. And I find it confusing that people don't care about it. :confused3 Like The Bellhop said, the problem is just getting passed through generations.

I personally believe that global warming is a natural process, but all this smog and pollution and whatnot isn't helping any. I think that instead of trying to "stop" global warming, we should be preparing for what is to come. A very warm period, then a very cold period.

I also don't agree with the people who have said that there isn't much being done. Cars now-days are a lot cleaner and a lot more efficent than cars of 30 years ago. Europe just passed another one of those clean air acts, and will drastically cut pollution gradually within the next 10 years or so. Demand for hybrid cars in the United States is growing, and a hydrogen powered car is not very far away at all. There are many things going on to help cut down pollution, and hopefully slow the process. To say nothing is being done is just ridiculous.

I'm not saying nothing is being done. But it is ridiculous that people jump in their car to drive a mile or two down the road to go to eat, see a movie or what not.

Public Transportation in the United States though has become inpractical. The interstate killed any hopes of it.

I agree with Sparx...it's not a question of whether you believe in it, because it's real. Someone may not believe in clocks but we all know that ehy really do exist.

It's real.
Durrr.
And I know it's a problem.
I once read a speech written by my brother, and it said that if global warming speeds up at any rate, the coast of Florida could be underwater.
I don't entirely believe this.
I have accepted, that at some point, global warming will take affect in it's worst way. Yes, I do try when I can to help the environment, but there is a chance it will come to play in our generations lifetime. And I've accepted that this might be the end.

But there has been news on the television that the Ozone had fixed up a little, however I did not hear the full broadcast, and therefore got about 0 information on it.

If you're terribly afraid of what may happen, I suggest you get very, very, very far away from those ice caps.

::yes:: I can honestly say, I'm not the one to ask about natural disasters/ "the end of the world" but I believe within the next 100 years. We will be wiped out. There will be another ice age, within the next 100 years, along with the sun "dimming" and things like that..pretty much the extinction of people as we know it. But I gotta say, I doubt most of us will be alive when any of this happens, but if something begins to happen. (refering to Noah's Ark now..) Believe in God, and everything, pray to please be safe, follow his word, and maybe Mothe Nature will take a turn around.

i heard that they are already making the hydrogen powered car and the gas and petrol companys are not letting them cars to the public so they can more money

and in a about 80 or more years england might not exist caused by gobal warming i am trying my best to stop it and so are many but there are some who are not

Let me say something, that I will probibly get flammed for, but i really dont care. Follow the money trail. Plain and simple. No one person going to go out on a limb to spend trillions of dollars to clean up the planet. Why, theres no money involved. No quick satisfaction, no immediate reward. The problem will only get worse before it gets better....So until then, we can do our best to help slow down the problem....

You took the words right out of my mouth.

and Eyeore fan, even though we probably wont be alive in 100 years or so, our children or grandchildren will. So this does effect us. and for all we know, it could happen tomorrow. I mean our weather patterns have already started to change. we are getting alot more hurricanes than normal and thyey are getting really strong. and it randomlly gets really hot or really cold. so we are already starting to feel the effects of global warming.

The farthest away you could go is the equator. I don't want to be there when the temperatures reach their peak.

No. Nature doesn't act that quickly. In 100 years, yes it will be hotter, but not by much. Maybe like, an average of a degree or two...if that. It takes thousands and thousands of years for the global climate to change that drastically.

And I'm not going to remark on your religious remarks because it would spark an arguement.

They are making hydrogen powered cars, but not in bulk. Big reason is because it's more expensive right now to produce hydrogen than to sell it, thus meaning people who would sell hydrogen would lose money on it. Ethenol is the better solution right now. Same sort of power that comes from Gasoline, a lot cleaner burning. Not to mention it comes from corn so it's replenishable, unlike oil for the time being.

...aaaand it's people with the mindset like yours that put us in this mess in the first place.

Wow, for someone who criticized nearly everyone's posts, ive yet to hear your hot plan for stopping this problem. Not to mention your theory on ethonal is, well astounding at that. It doesn't take a Harvard Graduate to figure out that when corn becomes more valuble, the price will go up. Simple supply and demand, the basic foundation of free trade....

I've already stated my ideas. You can't stop global warming. It's irraversable. What we can do however, is slow it down though. I say we cut down on the ammount of pollutants that factories produce. Reduce our demand for Crude Oil. Stop using so much energy...etc.

...and yes, the price of corn will go up. But the difference between Corn and Crude Oil, is you can grow Corn in your backyard, then take it to the garage and make it into ethenol. With Oil, it's very diffucult to find, then if you do find it you probably can't refine it.

I'm not saying get rid of Gasoline. I'm saying we need to rely on more than one fuel. In 25 years I'd like to see a mix of Ethenol, Hydrogen, Biodesiel, Desiel, and Gasoline.

It's going to happen. Not in 100 years (that is just too incredibly soon) and we can't stop it...heck, we're only human. However, I do believe we can help ease and prolong the inevitable. Now, I'm not going to get into specifics here because to be quite honest, I don't know a heck of a lot in the subject...erm...issue. Who knows...this effect may not happen for many generations to come and we can only guess at what the technology will be then. As things are now, man cannot ultimately stop this naturally occuring matter. At least, not to my knowledge.

I am one of those weirdos that thinks this is a common thing, maybe just a little bit enhanced by pollution, but not on the scale people say it is. Not one of us was around when the world goes through these changes (Climate changes). This could be natural for all we know. Even with all the pollution that has been done, I doubt it would do the damage as quickly as some believes. I liked Sparx's analogy the best.
