Hi everyone!
This is my first post in this GREAT forum board!
My name is Luca and I am from Italy, I'm sorry if my english isn't the best in the world, but I'll try to do my best! ;)
I was two times in WDW in 1994 (Travelodge in Hotel Plaza Blvd) and in 1998 (ASM). Now it's time to come back in May 2006 for my 3rd time with two friends who never been in WDW or even in Florida.
Probably we'll arrive to the hotel (All Star or Pop Century, I'm still evaluating!) around 19:00-20:00. I'd like to spend the first evening just having a tour in monorail to show to my friends something of WDW.
My idea is to take a bus from say All Star to MK and from here catch the monorail to Epcot, possibly in front seats (if my memory is still good, we should disembark at TTC and take the other monorail to Epcot).
Now my easy questions:
1) how much time should we spend for all the bus+monorail trip?
2) when the monorail go from TTC to Epcot, the loop inside the park (around Spaceship Earth) is done when the monorail arrives to Epcot or when the monorail leaves Epcot? (I hope I'm understandable!)
3) after exiting the Epcot monorail station, is it possible to get a boat and from here go to DTD? There is any pathway to follow or it is just impossible to do without entering the park and go to WS?
4) do you have any other suggestions for me to give to my friends, in a couple of evening hours, a global view of WDW just using the Disney Transportation System?

Thank You for your help and for the patience to read all my bad english written stuff! ;)

Your plan is good for the monorail tour.

HOWEVER, if you want to get to DTD after the tour, you will need to add something else. The only boat service to DTD is from Port Orleans. The only way to get to DTD by bus is from a hotel (resort).

Here is my suggestion:
bus to MK
RESORT monorail to TTC (it stops inside the Contemporatry to load/unload).
Get off at TTC.
Get on Epcot monorail. It goes through Epcot before it gets to the station.
Get off at the station.
Get on the Port Orleans Riverside bus.
When you get to POR, take the boat to DTD.(takes about 30 minutes)

With the wait time, you are probably looking at 2.5 hours from the time you get to the bus stop at your hotel to the time you get to DTD.

I'll try to answer some of your questions:

I believe the trip TO Epcot goes around Spaceship Earth, and when you leave Epcot for the MK on teh monorail, it goes straight to MK (not around Spaceship Earth).

There is no boat to DTD from Epcot, to get to DTD from Epcot, in fact, no direct way from any of the parks to DTD. You have to go to a resort, and take a bus or boat to DTD from a resort. You could walk to BWV or Beach Club, and take a bus from there to DTD.

Don't know the answers to your other questions, but hopefully this will help.

Thank You for your answers! :)
I suppose I'll do just the Monorail MK-Epcot without DTD (depending on my arrival time), hoping to see a little of Illuminations during the main epcot loop! ;)

There are other boat rides you can go on also.

From Magic Kingdom, just outside the turnstiles a boat goes to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.

From MGM Studios, outside the front entrance a boat goes to Boardwalk (resort) and the rear of Epcot. (You need to use your admission ticket to walk through Epcot to the front to take the monorail, but you could just as easily go back on the boat to MGM and take other buses without using your park ticket)
