What amazes me is that the new system has been up, what a week or so and we've already found the glitch? Now, whether disney cares enough to fix the glitch may depend on how hard it is to do so and not being a computer programmer I'm not sure. But, I suspect that they were aware of the glitch and figured the fix was too big a tech challenge to be worth it.
There was a glitch with the online system a little while after it first came out. It was rolling over at around midnight Eastern rather than 6am. This wasn't fixed for a couple months.
As for this "change", I'm also doubting it's official and more likely tied to some poorly coded verification to allow the 180+10. As it has been noted that you cannot put your actual arrival date in to get the 190 days if it is more than 180 days out.
Doing some testing and it appears as though the resort confirmation is not being validated as to when your check in date is, nor is it taking the date you enter into account at all. For example, ran three tests:
#1 - Real Arrival Date (23 Sept) - For this I was able to book up through 6/7, even though 180 day point is 11/27 (as of today, 5/31). This suggests that it sees a valid confirmation number and extends the calendar based on that, regardless of the date (if before 180 days)
#2 - Fake Arrival Date (27 Nov) - 11/27 was the latest date I could enter, which also happens to be 180 days from now. It allowed the booking to be accessed for this as well, suggesting that the arrival date is not being validated against the confirmation number.
#3 - Fake Resort Confirmation / 27 Nov Arrival - Entering a "fake" resort confirmation (using the same structure as a real one), I was able to secure a reservation for 12/07 as well. This suggests that beyond the two points above, it's not even validating the resort confirmation at all.
With those tests run, there's no way that this is intended behavior. It essentially opens "190days" up to everyone, on-site and off. (If they know enough to get around it, and with my help here they might... whoops). I'll also be sending those test cases over to Disney to aid them in narrowing down the bug (sorry folks).
I was able to get mine early as well. I went into the system to check it out so I'd know what I was doing on our 180 day mark (6/2). But I was able to make my ADR's through 12/3 on Thursday. I called that night to try to book a Fantasmic dinner package and I couldnt' do it. The cast member told me it was a glitch and to make sure I had all my confirmation numbers and to call AFTER my official 180 day mark to make sure the reservations were still in place and correct. I've been able to make the rest of our ADR's in the last few days. I'm not totally sure what's going on, but from what I was told on the phone it's not supposed to be this way. I'm really hoping that when I call on 6/2 I can make the Fantasmic package and still have all my other ADRs.
And this brings up a good point. For those making the early ADRs, it will be essential to check them after the ADR date passes. I know (if I were Disney) that I'd cancel the early ones, so don't be surprised if they do. (again, sorry, but giving a dose of reality here).
