Friend's son cannot eat wheat or dairy. Any good resaurants on International drive?

My son is severely Celiac; the doc's call it "exquisitely sensitive", but there is nothing exquisite about it, so we are very careful.

First up, we don't eat out much at all when traveling with the kids, even in safe restaurants DS gets very nervous and won't eat properly. That's actually how I stumbled across timeshare ownership, having your own kitchen is a godsend.

Most of the best options for dining are the Disney restaurants. Their kitchen staff and chefs are very aware of all food allergies, and have options available (gluten free pasta etc.) There is information available on the Disney site that explains which restaurants are best; you should identify the allergy when making ADR's.

There are a few chain restaurants that have GF options (dairy free as well); Outback Steakhouse is one we like, and Bonefish Grill. For fancier fare, try Seasons 52 on Sand Lake Blvd (not far off I-Drive).

A couple of suggested resources: http://www.theceliacscene.com/North_American_Chains.html has a list of chain restaurants that offer gluten free options. Although it is a Canadian site, most of the chains are US based. Also Urban Spoon offers a huge list of gluten free options: http://www.urbanspoon.com/t/26/1/Orlando/Gluten-Free-Friendly-restaurants They are presented on a map so you can zero in around I-Drive.

Finally, if you are shopping for groceries, the best source for GF/DF options is Whole Foods located on Turkey Lake Blvd at the corner of Sand Lake. They have extensive options for all food allergies.

Now that we have been traveling to Orlando for several years, DS has become a lot more comfortable with the options available. Orlando was probably the best place to introduce travel to him as a very nervous eater.
