Glasses on rides

How do you keep your glasses on during rides? Do you take them off and store them safely in purse or do they stay on? thanks

My son wears glasses and he takes his off when we ride the Mummy's Revenge. He lost a pair on the ride once so we learned the hard way about that ride. He holds onto his glasses on other rides but they stay on. He doesn't ride the big coasters.

I would suggest one of the straps just to be on the safe side. And watch that Mummy- he apparently takes souls and glasses! ;)

We were once walking toward Marvel Island in IoA. Just as we got to where you walk underneath the Hulk, a pair of sunglasses fell right at our feet.:rotfl:

Last time I was at Six Flags (7 years ago, ewww) they had nets under some points on the coasters. We saw glasses, wallets, flip flops, phones, you name it. And it didn't look like they ever cleaned them out and returned property to their owners.

In other notes, just a PSA on all rides to make sure your personal belongings are latched down tight. During my senior trip to Disney World, I lost my wallet without realizing it. The next morning Disney had found it when they cleaned out Rocking Roller Coaster. How it got out of my pack pocket underneath my butt without me even realizing,I do not know! This time I will only wear buttonable pocket shorts for sure!

Take them off or secure them..I saw 2 separate people lose glasses on the Mummy ride

My kids have always wore their glasses on all the rides without falling off. I usually take my sunglassess off though, as they don't fit as well as the kids glasses.

So, either wear a strap with them or take off the glasses if you think you may loose them.

I can see by the ride picture that I took off my glasses for Hulk. I ddn't want to see anyway. (kidding, my eyes aren't that bad at all)

I do, however, have dark-vision issues, so I wore my tighter-fitting ones on Mummy and it was fine. I wouldn't have worn my cuter but looser-fitting ones on it.

Straps for me! One for the RX glasses...and one for my Cocoon "fitovers"...(Love those, BTW). :thumbsup2
Sure don't wanna lose my glasses, but I DO carry a spare pair on all trips. I'm blinder than most bats without my glasses...no way I'm paying those park prices and not gonna see EVERYTHING!..(Well...as long as I keep my eyes open!)

The only ride I've ever felt uncomfortable wearing my glasses on was the Hulk. I felt them float off my nose and immediately clamped my hand down on them for the rest of the ride. I probably looked like a fool, but oh well.

However, I usually wear my backup pair of glasses when going to Universal. They're an older pair, and I'm not worried if I lose them, because the good ones are back in the car!

I wore mine the first time I rode the mummy, they stayed on, but I got a little nervous so the second time I took them off. Defiantly took them off for the Hulk lol, which was the only coaster I rode. All other rides were fine.

My kids wear them on all of the rides. They are tight fitting so that may be why. We always take a back up pair just in case.

I would leave my glasses on if I were riding the coasters or put them in one of the various pockets of my cargo shorts if the ride was indoors. I never lost a pair in all the years I've been going to Universal.

Without my glasses i'm blind as a bat! . I've done the Mummy ride often and never even thought it would be a problem but reading previous posts i don't know if im just lucky or have a big head and my glasses haven't fallen off on it yet :)

Not done the Hulk yet and that would be one i wouldn't wear my glasses on i must say.

I wear mine with a strap on everything these days. On more high powered rides I tighten the strap. If I didn't I wouldn't see anything; as a kid I always took 'em off and I wish we'd known about straps then. My vision is so poor that I can't be corrected to 20/20 even with glasses so riding is pointless without them.

I used to hold onto my sunglasses on the coasters, but apparently since the incidents a couple years ago with the Dragon Challenge that is no longer allowed. You either have to keep them on or put them completely away. I generally wear cargo shorts so now I put them in a pocket. I've seen too many pair in that net under the Hulk to risk it.

Two simple things. Loop a few rubber bands together and then loop them on the arms of the glasses. Real cheap, hundreds of rubber bands for $1 at dollar stores. Tie bandanna around head and snug it down over the sides and cover the glasses' arms. I've used both often and never lost glasses.

I have a couple of Nike shorts with zippers on the pockets. I love wearing them at amusement parks for this reason.
