Okay -- I REALLY need help with this decision:

I have the choice of electric range (coil type burners), glass top range or gas stove.....

I'm leaning toward the glass top because I think it will be easy to keep clean (tired of cleaning those burners).... but I'm worried about scratches, chips, and breaks.

Please give me your opinions/experiences --- THANK YOU!!

I have glass and yes it is easy to clean. I will take that over its disadvantages of not being able to use cast iron or glass on it.

:smacks Poop Daddy!:

I love my glass top and have had no problems with cracks, chips, scratches, etc. Actually easier to keep clean than the electric range!

My husband bought me a flat top stove for my brithday last year. I dont know if that is glass or not , BUT it is easy to clean and it cooks everything even . GO FOR IT ! If you get a little browning around the edge of the burner area soft scrub is great for that .

Good Luck

House we just bought came with a glass flat top stove. So far, we really like it.

Thanks for the comments! I was afraid it might scratch or I'd have to "baby" it, but so far it sounds like I'll be happy with the flat glass top.

BTW - I'll just assume Pop Daddy's comment meant that as long as the food gets cooked it doesn't matter how! ;) But if I'm wrong .... well, I really don't care! :)

I've had my glass top for almost 8 years and I love it. Mine actually came with a razor blade scraper and a gritty soft soap type cleaner. I guess it does have tiny scratches on it but when I use the cleaner it shines like new.

and (imho) even better than the soft scrub, we use Cerama Bryte on ours, even on the burnt stuff.

We have had no problems with ours and we use very heavy Pampered Chef pots and pans on it. Everything has always came off with the ceramic stove cleaner you can buy almost anywhere now.
