What do you use to clean them?

We just bought a house and a glass top oven came with it. I'm not sure what's best to clean it with. My mom said she thought there was specific cleaner for it, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.

Okay, when I had a glass top stove (I WILL have one again too, btw) in my old house, I cleaned it with water and a magic eraser. It then looked cruddy and streaky, so I used glass-top stove cleaner to sort of "polish" it.

You can buy the glass-top stove cleaner stuff at most stores - it's with the cleaning supplies.

You can use regular spray cleaners but it will look streaky. Even windex does not work. The best things are a cream liquid sold in any grocery/target/walmart for glass cook tops but it's like waxing your car. You have to rub it on with a damp cloth then buff off with a dry paper towel or clean cloth.

There is a new spray cleaner in a black spray bottle from Easy Off. It's what I've swithed to and I like it.

For really stuck on stuff you can use a razor blade too on its edge but be careful not to scratch the glass.

Thank you both. I guess it is necessary, then. I've been using a counter cleaner earlier and then finish it with vinegar. It does look kind of streaky

We used the creamy liquid stuff to clean ours when we had one. I have been seeing commercials lately showing a scrubber for glass tops but I don't recall which company it is?

For regular day to day cleaning, soap and water are fine. You can use cameo or other nonscratching cleansers(like bar keepers friend) to remove crusted on food. Windex and other amonia cleaners should not be used, if they are not rinsed thoroughly toxic fumes could result when to top gets hot. When you want to make it shiney and pretty, then you will need the cleanser for glass cook tops, they work alot like old fashion car wax(wax on wax off:happytv:)

For any baked on cleaning just use a flat razor blade scraper. You don't need any 'cleaners'. If you look at the owner's manual it will probably suggest this as well. Let the burner cool off and just scrape-easy and it won't scratch the surface. I had a glass top in my old house and I MISS it!!

Glass top cleaner and I bought some little cleaning pads the other day.

When it is super gross DH uses a razor blade.
