Hi everyone,
I know that you can't bring glass into the parks, but what about glass baby bottles? We are currently using them with my daughter because all of the controversy over chemicals in plastic bottles. Do you think we'll be okay bringing glass bottles into the parks or will I have to think of something else to use?
Thanks.

Regardless of what we say, it will be completely up to the specific guard the day(s) you enter the park(s).

I'd err on the side of safe and have a non-glass alternative with you.

They do allow a few small baby FOOD jars, but the bottle (especially because they could be held -and dropped- by babies, directly) may be a problem.

Again, it could depend on your random luck.

I have taken in glass baby food jars but never glass bottles. Like mentioned above, it will depend on the guard.

The only glass containters allowed in any of the parks are for baby food, perfume or medications.

Perfume? That makes no sense at all. That's not even in the same category of "need" as baby food or medications. Anyone able to explain that?

They sell it there!:rotfl2:

wouldn't the glass the bottle be her food? It just seems to me that formula is at least equivalent to a jar of smashed peas. Threehearts

"Food" is not the issue. Its the larger breakable glass that's the concern.

In general, a baby food jar is very small and mostly handled by the parent.

A baby BOTTLE is usuually larger and many times handed over to the baby.

If the bottle is dropped or falls out of the carrier, it will shatter.

So... they prefer you use a non-breakable container/bottle for this.

I've brought Nursette bottles into the parks with no problems. They are 6 oz bottles filled with ready to feed formula. I emailed Disney ahead of time and they told me it would be fine to bring them since it was for a baby. I brought a copy of the email in case security questioned me, but they never did.

I did accidentally drop one of the bottles in Epcot. I was shaking it before feeding my DS and it flew out of my hand. Luckily, we were in a very uncrowded area and a CM appeared almost instantly to clean it up. I felt really bad about dropping it, but he told me not to worry. We had a nice chat while he cleaned it up, and then he gave me a bunch of stickers for my older two kids.

You might want to print out some of the articles on the chemicals in the plastic bottles.....this might not help you get past a diligent guard, but when you then ask to speak with a supervisor, you may find them more able to make a decision based on something other than hardfast "rules". In other words, the guards are doing their job by not allowing glass in....but a supervisor can usually assess the individual situation and likely has the authority to make a case by case decision. If you're lucky you'll get a supervisor who is a parent and already has heard about the concerns over plastic bottles.....but the articles would be especially useful in explaining it to someone who doesn't have kids and so maybe ignored that part of the news or it never made it into their memory.

1) I have always held the opinion that a single-malt scotch was medicinal.
2) I could make a good case for it being food or perfume or medicine.
