Glad to be going on DCL

For our first cruise I am glad to be going on DCL. I just talked to a friend tonight that just took a Carnival cruise and he said it was like being on a Motel 6 on water! The kids were running all over and teens were drinking. He hasn't been on DCL before so I will loan him my DVD from DCL. He said Norwegian was good though.

I'm glad you chose DCL, too! I've heard similar stories about Carnival, although, though do have their own fans who swear by that cruiseline, too.

You will love the DCL. We have never been on another cruise line, and what you described is what our 'impressions' have always been on cruising. Then when Disney came out with a cruise we decided to give it a try. We FELL IN LOVE!!!!! You won't be sorry.

pppiglet - my DBF and I ALMOST went on Carnival for the 3-day Bahama cruise...and opted for DCL instead - and we don't have children! We'd rather be on a Disney cruise with folks that really know how to have fun with kids on board - including the big ones

Needless to say, we aren't big "casino" types

I just saw the Carnival Fantasy on the Port Canaveral webcam. Don't they have varandas on that ship? How can it be a "funship" if there aren't any varandas and Disney characters? This is our first DCL cruise as well and from everything I've heard--DCL was a wise choice!
