Anyone thinking of taking up the fall fling offers, reserve now.Last week I reserved two rooms in the GF for $234 a night at the end of September (26th). We got the chance to use my cousins DVC points, but when we tried to book a room, all garden views were gone. I checked the disney site this AM and the cheapest room now available is $374. WHEW- and to think I was thinking of holding off on reserving.

I've posted this over on the DVC board, but does anyone have any experience of part-paying for resort rooms with DVC points. I wonder if we could use some of the points to upgrade to a lagoon view room and pay the difference?

You'll need to call member services at DVC. They'll be able to book you a garden view, lagoon view, or concierge room. You will not be able to use DVC points to upgrade on a cash reservation (such as paying for a garden, and upgrading to a lagoon). Weekend nights on points at the Grand Floridian are very costly, too. One room goes for around the price of a 2BR villa over at the BoardWalk.

Another possible culprit - EXPEDIA. The travel services - expedia, travelocity, orbitz, etc. buy up rooms in advance sometimes at a wholesale rate - that way they can offer lower rates. Once they buy the room, the room is considered sold, even if it hasn't been. This often makes it seem like a resort is full, even if it isn't.
