Hello all , for those that have done Alaska what do you think the chances of getting the coveted DG01 glacier explorer boat booking for 4 people with Gold status? It’s for the 8/12 cruise. Of course no guarantees , but interested in others experiences. Thank you

Was not gold when we sailed Alaska, but as silver it was sold out on opening booking day. As we got closer to sail date, we were able to book all 4, but we ended up canceling as we didn’t see the need after reconsidering. For what it’s worth, I was ultimately glad we cancelled.

Just keep checking the app frequently if you are not able to get and hopefully it will open up, or check once on board.🤞

We got as Silver for 3 people for June 2023. Having seen glaciers in Patagonia, we didn’t think it was worth it. The ship looked to have tremendous views of a much better part of the glacier. Plus, they could see a seal pup born from the ship,

Cool, not planning a trip to Patagonia anytime soon 😃 so still looking for the boat explorer with a closer up view of not just the glacier but the wildlife and general landscapes , the YouTube videos look fantastic , do appreciate your response though

After the glacier was the best part. Lots of eagles.

We went to Alaska in June this year as Gold status. We wanted to book the Glacier Explorer but were expecting it to be booked out. Fortunately we logged in as soon as our window opened and were able to book all 3 of us on it. Amazing views especially as on our trip the Wonder couldn't get very close. Was definitely worth it for us.

We booked it as gold. It was fantastic! Bring your rain gear. It poured, but we were ready and had the best time!

We sailed 8/4 this year and as gold we could have booked both times when it opened.

I feel this excursion is more value earlier in the year when the ships is limited by the ice in how close it can get. For us in early August I feel the Wonder got very close. But the excursion got closer. I would choose the morning excursion. You will be checking in and sitting in the WDT while you are still far away from the glacier. While those with the afternoon excursion have to get into line just when it starts getting interesting. So the morning excursion gets back on board when the Wonder is close to the glacier and if you want more glacier viewing you can continue to do so. Maybe grab a hot chocolate from the top deck and enjoy sailing away from the glacier.

Glacier day was wonderful and I would have hated to spend an hour or longer inside with no window!

Definitely agree with this-we went out in the first excursion. Not only that, but it was so cool seeing the Wonder sail in.

I read to book the afternoon one so you have time to get the character photos on the upper deck in the morning. Does anyone know if they the characters are out later in the afternoon that day?

I'm Gold and I did this excursion last year on the cruise over the July 4th holiday. I had no problem booking the morning (1st) excursion of the Glacier Explorer for 5 people. Both the morning and afternoon excursions were available when I booked. I wasn't logged on right at the moment Port Adventures opened for Gold members, but I didn't delay and booked it either the first or second day booking opened for Gold.
