We are going to GKTW this weekend. We were told to bring an extra suitcase for goodies to take home. Do we really need an empty suitcase? Trying to get things organized and packed for a family of 7. We are so excited about our trip. Not sure what to expect but i am sure it will be magical.

If it turns out that you need a suitcase, you can always go to a store outside WDW and get one. There are plenty of WalMarts, Targets, etc. around to make that happen.

I hope you get enough memories to require another suitcase! Have fun.

I'd go to Odd Lots or Wal-Mart or and Army-Navy store or someplace like that and buy a duffel bag. You should be able to find one for under $10. Stuff that in your regular suitcase and use it to keep dirty laundry in while you are there. You can send the dirty stuff home in that and put your souvies in your regular bags.

Very good idea.

People have posted before that that they wished they had an extra suitcase because they did get a lot of stuff to bring home.

Hope you have a great trip and make lots of good memories.

We just returned from our Wish trip last week!
We stayed at GKTW too. It is a lovely Village and the people are all very friendly. Warning though - beds are hard. We all had a backache but made it through. (I wish I had been told!) As for an extra bag, we took an extra one because I was running out of space in the one I thought would be large enough. :) It certainly helped with bringing back what GKTW gave us and what we bought ourselves. Not to give anything away but there was only 1 game and the rest were small plush and comic books that GKTW gave us. Nothing where you'd need an extra large bag etc. You can leave space in one you plan to bring or pack a duffle to put your souvies in. If I can help in any way please feel free to write. Have a great trip!!! WDW is gorgeous with all the Christmas decor up. Truly beautiful!

I would love to hear about your trip. Were you able to swim or was it too cold? What is your email address?

We cant wait to go. The kids are very excited. There is 7 of us, are the villas big enough?

rona7jim - have a terrific time next week!! I look forward to hearing about it

purple princess - I have been wondering how your trip was...do share some more details with us please :yay:

We leave in 2 1/2 weeks for dd7 wish trip...we can't believe it is almost here :cool1:

I think I blocked the hard bed issue out of my mind...

we did have an incident in our unit our first night... someone as a prank set a clock radio alarm to go off at 2:00 am or something...

The funny thing is, it wasn't just any alarm clock! It was a promo clock featuring a soft drink called surge..

We are all peacefully sleeping and suddenly this noise starts up

"SURGE!!!!!!! SURGE!!!!!!! SURGE!!!!!!!!

scared the heck out of us, and then we laughed. The clock didn't beep or chime, it SCREAMED at you!! We even bought our own off of ebay to remember our trip.

Frankly though, I'm glad it was us and not another family that could have been very upset by that.....

We packed a suitcase inside an larger suitcase and it was overflowing with souvenirs when we packed up to come home. The gifts from the Villlage don't take up that much space, it was all the other stuff they got at the parks, etc.

I believe a family of 7 will be comfortable in the villas. I've seen pictures of some kids' rooms with bunk beds and another single bed. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room, a portable crib if you have a little one and if I remember correctly a roll-away bed in the closet in the parents' room. The only issue you may have is seating in the living room if you all want to sit and watch a movie together or something like that.

If you see Joe running the carousel, tell him we miss him! My daughter fell in love with the carousel so we would see Joe almost everyday. He's a sweet old man with stories to tell!!

Take a video camera if you have one. If you don't have your own, you can sign up to borrow one for a day from the Village. My daughter loves to watch the videos we took while we were there. I did a walking tour of the Village with our camcorder so we will always remember what it looked like. I did a tour of the villa on film too.

Enjoy your trip. Ours was truly the most magical time of my life.

PixiePoppins,

We are going to GKTW on Dec.16th, sounds like right about the same time you are!

We've been counting down the days for some time now!

All the best,
suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

We arrive the day after you on the 17th! :cool1: My dd9 started a countdown paper chain for us back on July 1st (it was quite long), but not many days to go now. We still haven't gotten final airline info, etc from MAW...I'm hoping this week. Is MAW sending your family too? Have you got all of your travel info?

Our family went to the Disney on Ice Princess Wishes show today. princess: It was terrific and really got us in the mood...not that we need any help with that. :) I was ready to come home and start packing.

See you soon :wave2:

Hi PixiePoppins,

We are going through Make A Wish; they haven't come yet with the details or anything like that yet, either. I do know that we leave on a 7am flight!!
I got a couple of books from our library that tell about all of the attractions in the various parks, so we can get an idea of what we'd like to see and do while we are there. We're going with our four girls, Abby, 8, is the Wish child, and her sisters are 11,13, and 15. None of us have ever been to Disney before. Abby has a page on caringbridge... visit...abbymeacham. Perhaps we'll see you there!!

All the best,
suzanne :dance3:

Suzanne, I'm so excited for you! It's your first time to Disney and it should be extra magical with your daughter's wish and the holidays. :wizard: There is just so much to see and do!

Thank you for sharing the link to Abby's page. She sounds like a very special little girl, and I'm glad she is doing so well in her recovery! :sunny: This trip will do your hearts good after what I'm sure must has been a stressful year.

We're leaving on a 7:30am flight, though I have no idea on what airline. I think I'll give MAW a call tomorrow and see if I find out more. :)

We're under 2 weeks now!! :woohoo:
