What kind of info did you take with you in case your wish child had to go to a hospital while down there? We are thinking ahead and trying to get all our ducks in a row.

Thanks!

For sure my insurance card.... I would also check on which hospitals are in my network...

List of meds and dosages, and any drug allergies.

I think that's all i would need. I'm sure GKTW has a hot line for any urgent medical needs.

Are you ready to have fun?

Hi ~ We brought med info, insurance and health cards. dd did get sick during GKTW trip ~ just the flu, but it was scary. I called the main desk at Kids Village to ask if there was a doctor available in case she got worse. There is plenty of medical stuff available. Fortunately, dd started to get better. Enjoy your trip! S

We are so ready! Sadly we have 3 months to wait! My dd, the wish girl, asked if it's time to start packing yet! I told her we'll wait a couple of months.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check with her docs when we go to clinic on Tuesday to see if there's anything specific they want us to do. But I knew you all would have the answers now! Thanks again!

I'd also suggest you take along all the contact information for her doctor; name, phone number, fax number.
I know some people also get a "summary" letter from the doctor that just gives a little information. it saves you having to give history/try to remember all those things in case of a problem.

There are hospitals in the area- Celebration- but I do know that if it is anything "serious" they will tell you to go to Arnold Palmer Childrens.
I had also asked my DD cardiologist before we went if anything came up where should we go- her said Arnold Palmer.

All the info is in the "bunny book" you get when you check in. has all the info you will need. give you exact driving directions to everything, lists clinics and hospitals and phone #'s. all the stuff you need to know.

We took all of our insurance info and I put all my sons info in my palm pilot. As far as medications and doses, the types of chemo and doses....list of scans....The complete list of drs and phone numbers and all the stuff they ask when you go somewhere new. GKTW was awesome...really had a wonderful time.
