I picked calculator, I handle the finances in the family, and we would be in big trouble without it. Second would be the remote, not directly for me, but for DH, who if he did not have the remote would drive me crazy! Third would be caller ID, which I really love, but I would just go back to screening some calls (like the normal time my mother calls) with the answering machine!

I picked remote control, but coffee maker is a close second

I picked the remote. It amazing how crippled we all become when we can't find it! ;)
This is so true. I went without TV for almost a week when I couldn't find the remote. The TV in my den is WAY to far from the TV to get up and change channels when I need to lol

Calculator, so math challenged its not funny.

I went for the last option, "none of the above." Thing is, you formulated this as "I don't really need any of these things," and that's how I answered it. Sure, I use the remote a lot, but I can still get up off my chair with the best of 'em. And I use a calculator, but I'm still pretty good with paper and pencil.

If you had an extra blank for other gizmos that came into use over the past ten years, I would have been tempted to add "cell phone" or "laptop". (Those chunky portable phones and oh, my aching back "portable computers" available back during the early 1990s hardly count.)

And if given time, I could probably think up other gizmos and services. Like CNN - I don't really need it, but it's nice to follow what's happening. Or cd's; they're so much better than videos.

Its a toss up between calculator and remotes!

You know it was for me, too, till I remembered in the olden days when we used an adding machine (and I like that better, to tell you the truth!) So, I chose remote controls.

I do remember being my parents' remote control. Of course, we only used to have 3 channels so it wasn't THAT big of a deal. We had to adjust the antenna when we changed the channel, too. Now, with cable tv and satellite and a zillion channels with nothing on, it takes FOREVER crouching by the tv and changing the channels to find something to watch.

I know DH would have chosen the coffee maker but since I don't drink coffee, I could care less if we have one. (Heartless, aren't I?)

Caller ID got my vote but the one thing I really can't live without now is my PC.
