Giving Up on "Just Married" Buttons :(

Just back from WDW yesterday... I went to the Poly, Grand FL, and the Contemporary.. no buttons. I was told to go to MK and ask at guest relations. I went expecting nothing.

Well, the super awesome CM said that they had the last 30 at Guest Relations on Main Street and she went and got us 2. :dance3::banana: She told me they are the last place to have them and that they were being re-designed to become more politically correct and less gender specific... so, the post below is indeed true.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We bought ours on Ebay before we went.

We ate at Ohana the first night, and guess what was waiting at our table?

Two Just Married Buttons.

I probably saw upwards of 100 couples wearing them 2nd week of September while we were honeymooning.

And honestly, I'm sorry, but there is nothing politically incorrect about "Just Married". Do they really think that the LGBT community is going to be less offended by Cinderella's carriage? It's still a hetero fairytale.

It's not that "Just Married" is politically incorrect. Removing Cindy and PC's faces make the buttons less gender- and race-specific. It's Disney's way of saying, "we doesn't care what race/gender you are, as long as you're spending your money here."

Thanks for all of the tips! I still can't believe they discontinued them, especially for that reason. To me, all it has done is disappoint a lot of couples who were looking forward to getting to wear those buttons.

I went ahead and called the Coronado Springs Resort a few days ago, but they couldn't find any. My wedding planner's assistant also checked with Guest Relations at the Magic Kingdom yesterday and they told her all of the buttons were gone. :sad1: I'm now convinced that some CMs are making them magically appear. :lmao:

We started out at Grand Floridian and the lady at guest relations was RUDE!!! And cut us off before we even finished asking for them. Then, even though we were still talking to her, she looks down at her computer and shouts something out to another cast member about whatever was on her computer. Basically, she just ignored the fact that we were standing there talking to her. (Her name is Adele by the way) Grr...then we asked at HS and she very nicely sent us to Magic Kingdom. At guest relations we asked them, she said she didnt have any, but she would make some phone calls. Then, out of the blue, another CM came up with two buttons and said they were buried in their "lost and found" bin. Yeah right Disney! Yeah, right! They obviously have them. Or at least a few. I dont know why they are hoarding them though. :confused3 Just be persistent!!

Does anyone know if they are making more buttons that say "Just Married" on them with a different picture, or is the Happily Ever After buttons the solution to this problem? I have no issue with them changing the picture on the Just Married buttons, it's just that they should have made new ones before they stopped making the old ones. And if they're not going to make any "Just Married" buttons anymore, I'm not sure why not - since gay couples can get married too I would think they would also want a button to Just Married! Especially since the Happily Ever After one seems to be given out for a variety of special occasions, not just marriages.

Okay...now you have me interested. I am heading down there this weekend and will be a couple of places (short weekend trip from Iowa). If someone will post what the one looks like that you are interested in, I would be happy to try to get some for you girls. I am sure I have some laying in a drawer somewhere from our wedding. Upload a picture and I will be happy to try!

The CM who told me was not specific at all. She said that the "Just Married" buttons were currently being "redesigned" which leads me to believe that they will possibly still refer to marriage.

Wow--that's horrible. :sad2: Some of the CMs that I talked to over the phone were pretty rude, but most of them were very friendly and helpful. Thanks for the tip! Just out of curiosity, we are going to ask for them at the Magic Kingdom when we go in December, but I definitely don't expect to get any. There are too many people still getting them for them to not have ANY, so I can't figure out what the deal is either. :confused3

Please let us know if you find any! :)

We're in Disney right bow and got a pair of these buttons this morning!

Magic Kingdom guest relations!!!

They also suggested Typhoon Lagoon and Blizard beach as good kications to check.

Asked at both animal kingdom and hollywood studios yesterday. They claim that "all" the parks are out of them and only the resorts have them now. Asked for them at the GF and they said they were out.

Apparently they've discontinued them and now are only making "Happily Ever After" pins.

To get a hold of these pins is becoming one of those random things that you don't know who has one. They are indeed officially discontinued, but some locations still have a few. We live here in Orlando and went to various places and never got a hold of any. The "Happily Ever After" ones are nice, but my heart was set on the "Just Married" ones. We got them off ebay for under $3 including shipping. During our wedding stay we had tons of couples come up to us asking where we got them and it broke my heart to see so many people disappointed. If you really want them, just go on ebay. To us it was totally worth it, even DH likes the "Just Married" ones better. Good luck! :goodvibes

For anyone still wanting buttons... I had a couple friends who used to be CPs with me send me some buttons so I have an extra pair. Obviously, all I need are 2 buttons so If anyone would like me to send the extra pair to them, send me a private message on here with your address and I'll get them out probably the day after I get the message :-)

Tryin' to spread that pixie dust <3 :goodvibes

Scott and I picked up a couple of "Just Married" buttons from Disneyland when we were engaged on New Year's. At the time we didn't know we'd be going to Disney World to wed, but I'm now glad we have something to go over there with. Our wedding planner said she can't get any buttons for us and that the "Just Married" ones are discontinued. Let's hope they come up with something better. Maybe mickey and Minnie in wedding attire.

While I was on my College Program, a cast member from guest relations told me that the reason that they got rid of the Cinderella/Prince Charming "Just Married" pins was because it was not politically correct.

blah.

Oh Geeze Louise!!!! This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!! Does that mean the whole Cinderella story is politically incorrect? I guess from now on, all Disney shows with romances are going to have to be starring asexual creatures, so no particular gender is offended. I wonder when they are going to rename Disney Fairytale Weddings to something else, like just plain old Disney Celebratory Weddings?
