Is it allowed to give gifts to characters?

If it is allowed, does anyone have any ideas on what to get?

I would love to get a little something for my favorite characters, especially Ariel, Belle, and maybe Gaston. But would love ideas for ALL characters!!

i have a friend on instagram who I've seen taking pics of him giving gifts to characters. I'm not sure if its allowed but i love to follow this thread and see what results you get ever since i saw I've wanted to try lol

1) Sure, you can give them "little somethings".
. . . once in a while a kiddie might present a character a small gift
. . . the character will give it to their Handler
. . . there is nowhere for the character to store the item(s)
2) However, characters are in Non-Tipped positions.
3) So, they must turn gifts/tips into their supervisors. *
4) The supervisor will dispose of the tiem(s).

* If they do not, termination can result.

It honestly depends on the gift and the supervisor. I know many friends of characters and they keep the items (especially when they are drawings and small items) back in dressing rooms. If it is a value of over $10 (I believe it's $10) then they have to report it to a supervisor and they will either write off the gift or donate it (or sometimes they are sent home with it anyway.)

Despite all of this, I highly recommend something like a painting or drawing if you are going to be giving characters anything (or something inexpensive or small). They are allowed to keep those and they can mean so much more to them than other presents.

We've given Pooh a small jar of honey. I'm told that Pooh ends up with a lot of honey by the end of shift.

I've only ever seen a gift given once:

We were in line for Ariel, and the little boy in front of DD (19) and I gave her a shell. She has a treasure box beside her on the rocks, and she had him put it in the treasure box for her.

When he opened the box, it had various shells & kid drawn pictures inside. So sweet!

But I would think she is one of the few who have a treasure chest to put such items.

1) We can keep items worth up to $75, but have to report them.
2) I am not allowed to take cash, however . . . . . . . . . . .
3) We are supposed to give cash to a supervisor.
. . . monthly, the "cash kitty" is spent for crew donuts
. . . items which are turned in are usually given away to charity

NOTE: I am not a character, and do not play one on TV. But, I am in a job title
where people are helped and customarily tip.

When my oldest was about 8 or 9, he was absolutely determined to give his favorite pin to Mickey. It is all he talked about from before we left until we finally found Mickey on the 3rd day of our trip. He was so proud walking up to Mickey and giving him his favorite pin. Mickey was very gracious, and in all honestly, I don't are what ever happened to the pin, my son was happy to have given a present to his favorite character.

My daughter gave Anna and Elsa some chocolate. They both said how much they loved chocolate and my daughter really enjoyed doing it. It was just a couple Hershey kisses, and Anna stuffed them in her pocket to be thrown away later, but it made the experience even more special for my daughter.

My DS(4) loved to give the characters pictures he had drawn of them when we went in Dec. It made the interaction great and also was a great way to pass time while waiting in line.

This is very common in Tokyo Disney. Also, Japanese guests commonly gift items to the characters in WDW and DL.
