We are returning in Oct. This time with our entie family in tow. DS will be 3 and will purchase his first pass. DD will be19 months which for me is barely old enough to go. Trip reports indicated that the second week was much less crowded than the third week. I would like everyone's insite on how you managed October trips.

Please send lots of tips

I've only been once in Oct., but we're planning our trip for Oct. again this year. It was a great time to go - decent weather, light crowds, etc. Columbus Day (11th) will probably be one of the heavier weekdays, but even that wasn't completely crowded when we were there.

Two years ago, the Food and Wine Festival started in mid-October along with MNSSHP, so the early part of October was probably less crowded than later on. This year, however, F &W Fest. starts at the beginning of Oct., so that may even things out a bit - who knows. We'll be there from 3-8 and again from 10-16.

3 times ago I went 4th of July week, the lines were MAD CHAOS. 2 times ago I went April vacation week, the week after Easter, it was NUTS, I had 3 hour wait for some things......then the last time I went we went from Oct 26 - 31 and it wasn't "THAT" bad, I think the most we waited for things were like 15-20 for Splash Mtn and Space Mtn. In Sea World we walked on Kraken around mid day, got front row...we did that like 3 times.

GL and Enjoy!

Do you know the exact date that the Food and Wine Festival starts? I'm thinking about going 29 Sept-5 Oct and was hoping to be there for one of the MNSSHP, but was hoping to avoid any other crowds. Of course there's nothing wrong with some food and wine... :teeth:

Thanks, T&B

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe F & W Festival is October 1 - November 14 this year.

Those dates (October 1 through November 14) are correct according to the official Walt Disney World site.

We used to live in FL and went all the time...if you avoid Columbus Day weekend, you should be alright. Lots of schools have that for their fall break long weekend, so many families travel then.

The Food & Wine festival is VERY popular with the locals, so if you want to avoid that crowd, just do Epcot on a weekday!! No biggie :)

Thanks for the F&W dates. I won't worry about crowds from that and if I go late Sept/early Oct I will try to hit Epcot before it starts. I will be alone with my 4yo this trip, which is why I was wanting to minimize crowds. The "problem" with me going the end of September is that if my in-laws will watch the kids when they are here in early September my DH and I might go to WDW for a few days. Two trips in a month sounds excessive. :teeth:

Kadaten,
Because of school considerations and desire to do MNSSHP we're having to go Columbus Day weekend! (Arriving Thurs. night too late to do anything!)

AND because of the late Friday night at MNSSHP we'll be going Saturday to a "later" park, ie Epcot World Showcase, when they open. It'd be too late to go anywhere else and get stuff done. We intend to "hang out" more on Sat.

Yikes, we may be doomed! Ah well, we'll hope for the best! :p

PS Love your patriotic Mickey
