I need suggestions on working the Magic Kingdom commando-style. I have a 3 1/2 year old that will be able to ride Splash and BTM for the first time. He of course would like to do all as many of the kid rides too! TIA! :earsgirl:

I'd look at the "Dumbo or Die" plan in the UG.

Well-- I odn't have access to a UG. But thanks for the tip! I will need to get one.

My recommendation would be to spare yourself the pain and don't do it commando style. Make a list of "must-do's" and get that done as best as possible. Even if your time at WDW is short, my advice would be to savor rather than to cram.

Here's my commando suggestion-go for morning EMH if available. Otherwise get there at park opening-split up as you come in-send someone to get a good fast pass like Spash or BTM(shortcut through Liberty Square to the right of the castle) and the rest of you head to Fantasyland. Have the gopher meet you back in Fantasyland. If he wants to ride Dumbo do that first, another one to do early without fastpass would be the speedway. Try to send the gopher ahead to snag fastpasses when possible and meet you back. Once you have the lay of the land you can get around the park solo pretty quickly. Ride attractions without fastpass while your fastpass time is standing in the other line for you. Make sure you have a stroller for your little guy-and don't take to many people out as you plow through the crowd(JK).Don't be afraid to jump around the park. Crossing through around the castle makes a long walk not seem so long. Have fun!

In our house "commando style" is a whole different meaning! When I saw this post, I thought you were talking about not having undergarments. :confused3

So what you are talking about is going to MK and not really having a plan....

Thank you for the giggle!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I am ROTF!

I have to be honest:

Commando style is not good at MK or any park really. In the summer especially by mid morning Commando styles causes extreme rubbing. The friction will cause inner thigh blisters and if a male, well, I wont go there. Trust me, dont do commando.

Oh wait! You must have been talking about something else. My bad. :sad2:

I have a questions do you want to do it all in one day?
How about characters is he interested in seeing them (I would imagine considering his age, I am just making sure)?
What time of year are you going?
are you planning on taking naps or letting him nap in stroller?
offiste or onsite?

OK-
my huband and I are surprising him with a day trip to MK. We only live a few hours away--so we go quite often. However, I recently had a baby--and we haven't gone in like 7 months. So, we just wanted to fill in as much as possible and wondered if any of you had cool suggestions for that. He loves the rides, parades, fireworks. He loves the characters too. But, we are going this summer for a week and will have more time then to concentrate on that. But, like I said before--he can ride Splash and BTMR for the first time. We measured him last night and he is a little baby bit over 40 inches. WOO HOO!! He is sooooo excited.

Do you have more than 1 day available? Your very best bet would be to arrive on 3 different mornings at park opening. On the first one, preferably EMH, do Fantasyland; then hit ToonTown right when it opens, then do breakfast a Crystal Palace, then meander around till everyone's tired;

On the second morning, head "left" to SplMn and BTMR, then catch Pirates; Country Bears, Aladdin, the Treehouse, HM and other attactions, scheduling in a lunch at Liberty Tree or some other quiet sit-down. Ride the train back to the front.

The third morning head "right" for Buzz, Space Mountain, and other Tomorrowland; then loop back around for anything missed.

Be aware that if he "catches" the autograph bug your precious morning time will be nuked by constantly needing to stand in line to get pictures and autographs. Try to catch the main characters in meals, and in ToonTown just as it opens. When our DS was 10 and our DD was 3, he became an expert in diverting her attention so she didn't see characters with 10,000 kids clustered around.

When the rugrat starts to look tired, STOP, go inside; eat something; smell the roses; pay attention to the details.

If your little person is a night-owl, then reverse one of the days and stay late and close the park on "e-ticket" night

Okay keep in mind this is only MY oppinion. I would get to MK for opening do the rides in Fantasyland first Dumbo, Pooh, Peter Pan, head over to Splash Mountain get FP then ride Aladdin and do Pirates, Use FP, Get another Fp for BTMR, Do Jungle Cruise, Tikki Birds Country Bears, Use FP for BTMR. Head over to Tomorrowland and get FP for Buzz lightyear, Wait in the line for the Speedway, because there will be one, there is always one!!! Use FP for Buzz lightyear. I would suggest going back into Fantasyland and seeing Mickey's Philharmagic and Haunted Mansion. I think that takes care of most of the big rides, I did leave out Space Mountain only because you didn't mention it. Take care and have a blast

I'd also agree with the Fantasyland first theory.

Of the attractions in the Magic Kingdom, most of them be able to handle a decent crowd EXCEPT the stuff in Fantasyland. I have done a fantasyland tour of both California and Flordida Magic Kingdom
s and it seemed to work well.

I'd try to end you early morning romp through Fantasyland on the toontown side. If you are truly lucky Toontown will either be just about to open , or only open a few minutes, and that is also low capacity, as is the Indy Speedway.
