Give me strength - we are leaving for Disney tomorrow....

and every time we think we are all set - another problem gets thrown at us. This is us, our girls, MIL, FIL, SIL and her 5 kids - 12 in all. We booked last fall and since then:

April - FIL diagnosed with lung cancer- starts chemo - we still think we can make the trip, just working around his needs

June - FIL has a series of small strokes and is hospitalized for a week. They decide to cancel and we will go without them.

July - he is fully recovered from strokes, feeling really good, they decide now they do want to go. Major headaches getting them -rooms, flights, etc on such short notice but we are finally successful

While we are gone - my Mom is having a small lump removed from her breast and biopsied. Upset I can't be there with her, praying it's nothing.

This past Wed - my husband, myself and my MIL all work for the same bank (in different areas). We find out the bank was bought and we are all losing our jobs - me probably in November, DH and MIL probably in Feb. MIL will just retire early - for us, with stock options and severance pay - we will be okay for a year and a half, but will still need to find new jobs. We are taking this vacation and leaving the troubles behind.

This morning - SIL calls - my neice is throwing up. Okay - she tends to get stomach bugs very easily - 2-3 times per year, so just crossing fingers she gets some rest today and is okay by tomorrow morning.

10 minutes ago - my 2 year old fell down the stairs- she's okay, just shaken up.


Has this been a crappy few months or what?

Yes, that's a pretty crappy list alright. I'll throw a little pixie dust on you and your family. I hope everything turns out alright in the end. Once you get to the Magic, the troubles will melt away.

Sounds like you all really NEED this vacation! I'll be praying for all of you and sending pixie dust your way for a wonderful, restful, and happy trip that will leave all of you refreshed, re-energized and ready to tackle whatever awaits you back home. Sometimes, our biggest source of strength is having our loving family close around us - you can all help each other have a great trip and stock up on love for the tough times ahead.
