This is trip #10 to Disneyland Resort for me... but growing up I never ate in the parks. Since marrying my hubby (a real foodie) we've been experiencing more of the delicious side of Disney!

We're trying to keep this trip cheaper so we won't be indulging in any sit down dinners, but what are your MUSTS as far as Counter service and snacks? I should add that I'll be 17 weeks pregnant so I'm REALLY into food right now ;)

PS - our favorite is generally Hungry Bear in Critter Country.

Thanks in advance!

My hubby is a foodie too and he says not to miss the Plaza Inn's fried chicken and I agree.

I would suggest trying the gumbo from the Royal Street Veranda (tucked into the wall just to the right of POTC). I had never noticed this little window before, but now that I do I am going to stop by for gumbo every trip!

Counter service is definitely Plaza Inn chicken and Earl of Sandwich in DTD. I usually like the gumbo at the Royal St. Veranda but something was off with it the last time I was there (it was probably just an unlucky batch). As far as snacks are concerned, I am a fan of the churros and Mickey beignets myself. I know a lot of people will mention junk food-type snacks (like I just did in the previous sentence) but the last time we went we got some really good fruit at Fillmore's Taste-In at DCA.

One thing I would NOT recommend is Redd Rockett's Pizza Port.

Favorite counter service in DLR is The French Market. Great food and we love the ambiance.

I love the clam chowder bowls or Tri tip salad by the river across from the haunted mansion, can't remember the name of the place, but it's a little shack you order from. I also love rancho del zocalo in frontierland, their burritos are yummy! Popcorn and veggie or fruit bowls are also must haves.

MY husband and son ate a lot of hawaiian burgers from tangaroa terrace at the DLH. It's great a night because there is live hawaiian music, and the tiki torches and palm trees make for some great ambiance!

I know you said you want counter service ideas but I can't pass up the chance to rave about the monte cristo at Cafe Orleans. We finally ate there last trip and it's so delicious, it's now on my must eat for every trip. Now my other reason for mentioning it is because you can easily share it so as far as cost it would be comparable to counter service.

Also not to miss on my list are the beignets, my family prefers the ones in DTD at Jazz Kitchen and no DL trip is complete without a corndog or two, heck who am I kidding I usually get 3 a trip!

I just went a couple weeks ago and ate at the Harbour Galley along the ROFA over by where they dock the ship. I had the baked potato with BBQ chicken and coleslaw and then more BBQ drizzled on top!! Soooooooo good! I can't wait to go back and have it again! But they'll even let you customize your potato a little bit because there's a few different kinds. I highly recommend it as a good counter service. Its also a great quieter place to eat as well. Especially if you are a fan of Hungry Bear like I am.

Um, that sounds AMAZING!!!!

Here's another one for you. Over at California Adventure is the Lucky Fortune Cookery. They have big rice bowls. I couldn't even finish mine. They have four different sauces and will let you combine them too. And even taste the sauces ahead of time to make sure you like it. You can choose your meat and each bowl comes with veges too. I believe you can ask for brown rice too, but I forgot to ask this last time. I recommend the Thai Coconut Curry sauce!

How did I not know about this place?? That sounds awesome. My kids LOVE rice bowls too.

The Harbour Galley is awesome! We love the baked potatoes and they have the clam chowder in the bread bowls. It is a little place and it can be hard to find a place to sit.

I know EXACTLY where it is, but i'm sure you could walk a minute or two over to Hungry Bear and grab seating there if necessary :)

Thanks so much everyone!

Bengal Barbeque! Hands down. Or perhaps I should say hooves down. Lol
Love the Safari Skewer,it is bacon wrapped asparagus. And the Chieftain Skewer. So delicious. It is chicken in an alleged Polynesian sauce. :)

As other posters have mentioned, Harbor Galley is great! They have the baked potatoes, chowder in a bread bowl, tri-tip salad and a delicious salmon salad.

Agree with planningjollyholiday--I also love the Hawaiian burgers at Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam's (DLH). My favorite, though, is the chicken lettuce wraps from Trader Sam's. Enough for 2 and delicious!!!
