Give a Day promo question

Hi there!

Has anyone been able to use their "1day 1park free pass" as an upgrade? I am wondering if I were to buy a vacation package and get the tickets that are included, and then use the voucher as an "upgrade" to an deluxe AP will work... We were just going to use them by going to the window and buying the AP's then and there but there are some great vacation packages right now that I would like to take advantage of but they all include tickets....

Any ideas on this?

I can't answer your question but I'm thinking it would be a no. You can't combine 2 tickets to upgrade to something else.

Maybe someone else can answer you for sure though.

I'm also going to guess no. You could always upgrade the tickets in your vacation package and use the Give a Day promo ticket for one of the other options offered specifically for those vouchers, I believe fast passes or something along those lines.

This may be a YMMV situation but we were just able to do this 3 days ago. We arrived at Disneyland on the 21st which was a blackout day for the voucher, so we purchased the so cal 2fer ticket. We went to Disneyland that day. The next day we took our 2fer tickets, and our vouchers to the service desk outside the park and upgraded to Deluxe annual passports. They applied everything including our parking for the first day (walked from hotel the second day, we purchased the parking pass as well)

I'm not certain, but I have heard you can enter the park with your Give a Day ticket and then use an UNUSED hopper the "same as cash" for your upgrade.

I wouldn't try to upgrade using a partially used hopper and your Give a Day--L2S2C's post is the first I've read where something like that worked.

It even states in the FAQ that you cannot combine a GAD with another ticket as a form of payment, so I was fully expecting on getting the figurine for the two kids and the fastpasses for one and then upgrading our park passes to AP. The lady just did it and we were like, Oh OK. I mean, I wasn't going to complain, I got a better deal, so I wouldn't throw a fit or anything if you're denied it, because it states it in the rules, so definatly YMMV

The reasoning behind upgrading an UNUSED hopper is that I have heard Disney basically views them as cash (except you can't spend them at the Blue Bayou ). So in that regard you're not upgrading a ticket, so much as exchanging your prepaid ticket with its full value for a ticket of a higher value and paying the difference.

I've never tried it but I have heard it works that way.
