Give a day/get a day positions in Peterborough, ON area?

I have just been on the volunteer Canada web site and have been unable to locate any volunteer opportunities in the Peterborough, ON area.

Does anyone know of any organizations in this area that are connected with Volunteer Canada?

I tried searching in calgary too but I think they aren't listing them until Jan 1st. At least that's what I understood from the website. Not sure though.

I am in Peterborough and have yet to find an organization for the Give a Day/Get a Day promo.

I'd like to find out if there are any opportunites available on Vancouver Island. I think the promotion is a good idea but haven't paid much attention to the details as I figured it was something only available to US residents.

We're going to do this as a family to help with a trip in May, so I thought I'd post what I know so far about signup.

The opportunities will not be listed until Jan 1. At that time you will be able to sign up and volunteer. The important thing is that you must sign up through Disney at DisneyParks.ca, not through Volunteer Canada. Volunteer Canada is Disney's partner in Canada, but you don't use VC's site to sign up and find opportunities. Disney has to track signups and completed volunteer work in order to issue you your ticket later, so it's all done through them.

Looks like the only opportunities where I could bring my 10 year old are in Buffalo NY and area! It is really only good if all four of us can sign up and volunteer together and it is not worth going to another country to volunteer one day! a little frustrating!

OK, I just checked the Disney website and it turns out the closest place to us here in Peterborough for registered volunteering is Whitby. Next closest is Trenton, then Newmarket. I can't understand why Trenton has 3 postings and there is nothing in Peterborough.

I'm in Kingston and there's nothing here. The closest would be Trenton or Brockville which is difficult when you work six days a week. Unless they add some more volunteer opportunities it doesn't look like it will work for my family. Disappointing for sure.

True - also - I am going to contact some of the agencies directly and ask about opportunities. There was a spot at the end of the listings where you could click if notheing suitable was found and you could get the contact info for the agencies to try to do this. My family does a ton of volunteer work as it is so hopefully I can convince one of the participating agencies that we could really be a valuable asset for a day!
We don't really need an extra day as we have passes that are good for the 5 days we are going but our passes are nonexpiry so if we do participate in this, we could go home with one day left for future use or we could use the "give a day, get a day" pass to go to a second park on one of the days as our passes are not hoppers. Mostly I think it would be a good experience and I want it to be successful for Disney and he organizations so it will continue!
