Is there a Giselle character at the parks?

...in WDW's DHS parade before it turned into the Pixar Parade. But I did not see her anywhere else. I hope she will be in DLR my DD would love to meet her.

She rides by in a carriage 10 minutes before the parade starts. I think it's even listed under shows on the park map insert.

I believe they will be replacing the Giselle pre-parade float very soon with the Prince Caspian pre-parade float, so catch her while you can.

We were there yesterday, and there was no pre-parade float at the 6:30 parade. Though I seem to remember that they only ran the Ratatouille pre-parade at the 3:30 parade, so maybe that's why. I wish they'd put Giselle at the PFF or at Ariel's!

I agree. My daugter and I LOVE Giselle. We lucked out on our last trip in December. I had no idea if we'd see her or not but we were hoping. We entered our first day in the evening. As soon as we emerged onto Main Street, we could see people lining up for the parade. Then we realized we could hear the Enchanted theme music from across the park. We love that song! We got to catch her in her carriage before the parade. It was such a magical start to our trip.

The pre parade for her ended in march. I asked a CM, and the vacation planner about her, and was told no she wont be out like the princesses also disney does not view her as one, so they informed me she wont be inducted into the official line up. New pre parade is prince caspian.

I like Giselle too... but as the PP pointed out, she isn't a princess... didn't marry the prince, and instead ended up with a regular guy... so she shouldn't be included with the princesses... dd is very particular about this too! Points out all the time that Mulan isn't a Disney Princess...

I think it was a thread on this site, but i might have been a diffrent one... anywayz.... They were saying that theY don't have permission from amy adams to do a meet and great with a likeness of her..... So i don't know... the others since they are cartoons don't matter i guess.... but mary poppins isn't cartoon so ...... Maybe she was just greatful as to what disney did and said sure... maybe after so many years its legal trade (like copy rights ) But thats what someone said about why giselle wasn't out...

I like Giselle too... but as the PP pointed out, she isn't a princess... didn't marry the prince, and instead ended up with a regular guy... so she shouldn't be included with the princesses... dd is very particular about this too! Points out all the time that Mulan isn't a Disney Princess...

Well, really we don't know her true origins (aka how she ended up in that cottage in the middle of the woods). She could have been a royal baby left in the cottage, and truly had no idea about her royal status (a la Princess Aurora).

And I don't think Belle should be counted as a princess if we're going for technicalities. And Tinkerbell DEFEINITELY isn't one, even thouh she's shown up on merchandise once or twice with Princess labeling.

yeah, there's a really stupid (in my opinion) rumor about having to pay Amy Adams royalty for a disney character.

there IS a law in CA that prevents a company from profiting off someone's likeness, that much is true. how much it applies to a character is really unclear.

Giselle has appeared in person at both WDW and DLR and has done meet & greets at NYC WOD as far as I know. Disney also sells prints of stills from the film featuring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey amongst others.

it would seem to me that the fine Disney legal team would be able to see all this as potential problems ahead of time and could have worked around it if it was an issue.

i think Enchanted is more of an anomaly than a Disney film. Disney owns Enchanted as opposed to Mary Poppins which it doesn't own (as a property). Disney doesn't own Winnie the Pooh either.

since Disney flat out owns Enchanted, none of this really comes into play, but licensing is a complicated animal. *everything* gets divvied up when it comes to rights. part of the challenge of Disney bringing MaPo to Broadway was because the rights to the theatrical production were already acquired by Cameron Mackintosh.

Yea like i said thats what i had heard i really have no idea! I personally have never seen the movie.... I have boys who are more intersted in something other then princesses.... But i am hoping to watch it once it comes on Pay-per view

Ah, but we never actually saw a wedding. Remember, everyone assumed Aladdin and Jasmine were married at the end of their film, but in actuality weren't married until their third movie. Even Cinderella had an actual wedding and is therefore by all counts a princess.

No wedding, no marriage in my eyes.

As far as Giselle making appearances- one reason I've heard is that the wedding dress is soooo expensive they don't want to send her out to do meet and greets in it. I don't know how true this is.

As for Belle, of course she married the prince- it's a fairytale! Remember how it ends? Chip says "Are they going to live happily ever after, mama?" and Mrs. Potts says, "Of course, my dear, of course." In a fairytale, happily ever after means they got married. PLUS if you watch the movie, look at that last stained glass window right before the credits. Belle is wearing a crown!

I believe that the ending of Aladdin WAS originally intended to be a wedding. They just decided to change the chronology when they made the tv series. Unless they do the same for Belle, I'm sticking to the story that they married.

Yup... You save the Emperor and all of China, but you still don't get to appear as a Princess at Disneyland...

If the wedding dress is expensive, why would it be so difficult to have her in the "That's How You Know" dress? I think I'm sitting down and bugging guest relations next time I go...

I've considered Disney princess as a term of affection, not a technicality. and I've seen Mulan at DCA.

I'm flushing this out and as I was watching the Disney-filled American Idol Gives Back special, it makes sense that they can do a Kim Possible meet & greet and not a Hannah Montana one. I've heard kids complain that the performers at High School Musical in the parks aren't the actors from the movie (but I don't believe they claim to be actual characters either), so I can just imagine. I think there's a threshold for being able to maintain a suspension of belief.

i wouldn't buy the dress issue myself, on either one. I believe the White Witch had quite an extravagant dress and dresses that retail for thousands cost maybe hundreds to make at most. I do watch Project Runway afterall.
