Girls, why do we do this to ourselves?

No, but she was also very curvy. Curvy people today get labeled so fast as 'fat' it's not funny.

It's like, excuse me I have ****s and hips and am not the size of a twig. I'm a real woman, not a child. ;)

What!? They called you fat? No way. You're so thin!

Personally, I think people should try their best to tune out the outside world in regards to their appearance. Do what makes you feel comfortable & happy. For me, makeup is a pain in the *** and I feel yucky when I have it all on.

But on the other hand, I feel much more confident when I straighten my hair. Just because to have smooth hair makes me feel...lighter some how.

I also feel my most comfortable in jeans, believe it or not. Pair that with a normal ol' t-shirt and I feel like I'm the most beautiful thing ever.

So forget what everyone else thinks. Forget about societies standards and norms. Listen to yourself.
ITA. I'm going to school. To learn. Why would I want to waste time putting on make-up? What's the point in it?
I wear whatever I want to. Sometimes my t-shirts are too big. Oh well.

I Choose Team Thunder Thighs and against Team Twigs...lol. I like my girls to look healthy and not anorexic or balimic.

You can't "look" Anorexic or Bulimic. They are mental conditions, not physical conditions.

That's not the case all of the time. There are plenty of Anorexic and Bulimic teenagers that aren't underweight.

I guess dramatic weight loss isn't a "physical state."
Like you just said, you don't have to be underweight.

Oh ITA. I sooo don't understand why people dress like they're working in an office when they go to school?
Personally, I sometimes go to school looking like a bum. Most likely, when I look like a bum I feel like a bum.
It's not a high-snobiety gala event, it's school. You sit in a seat for 1 1/2 hours four times in that day. I'm going to be dang comfortable, thanks.

oh and I was called "lesbian" because i love flannel shirts.

I'm sorry, but who cares?

Theyre comfy and warm during the winter, and they say "lesbian" like its a bad thing. I'm not lesbian, but if i was, would it really be such a big deal? To say that like its an insult?

everyone here was wearing flannel shirts last winter. they were the latest fashion :)

you actually can look anorexic or bulimic. people are apparently worried that i am.

i agree that people shouldn't be told that they are too fat if they are like a size 10-14 (US 6-10) but it works the other way.
apparrently i'm not a real woman because i'm a size 6-8 (US 2-4) also i must have had implants because its impossible to be as thin as me and wear a C-cup. its insane. i almost feel like i should put on weight so i can be considered a real person. my mum was like this too. i'm healthy. i have never been on a diet. i just have good genes.

i wear make up sometimes. i like to make my skin look better and mascara makes me look more awake. my hair is naturally very straight. i sometimes use temporary dyes in it coz i get bored with my naural colour. i do it all for me.

How tall are you? Sometimes taller girls have faster metabolisms. So it wouldn't be freakish. And of course you are real woman you just have a faster metabolism.

i'm almost positive the jenny (and everyone else on this thread) did NOT mean that thin girls are not real girls.
just that supermodels, (ie; the airbrushed girls you see in magazines) are not real, because well, they aren't, they're photoshopped and airbrushed to death and THOSE are the kind of things that makes regular girls feel like crap.
not the thinner/leaner girls you see everyday in real life.

i believe she was just saying we should'nt try to set ourselves up to those fake supermodel standards.
not that being thin was bad. :confused3

im only 5'2"
it just annoys me that i get judged for being small

thanks :)
i was actually pointing out that the media says you have to be bigger to be real. on current affair shows they only ever do fashion for "real women" it just gets to me

thanks :)

i totally understand what you mean.
like the dove campaigns, the 'real' women are bigger.
not that there's anything wrong with that, but there are real thin/lean women out there too!

i just didn't want you to feel bad for being thin! haha

exactly. i usually have a pretty good self esteem until i see things like that. lol

Just for clarification - by real women I mean women who have breasts bigger than an A cup, thighs bigger than a size 00, and a behind. Some models are stick thin, they look like children.

If you like to flame then read the following:

Unless you actually are quite a bit overweight, when someone calls you fat it's just an insult. They don't actually think you're fat. Also, I HATE the stereotypes that models and skinny girls don't eat at all, and that they throw up everything. That's so not true. Some models do, but more don't starve themselves than do. Oh, and I'm pretty sure models are real people. It's so annoying when people say they "Aren't real" because what are they? The models aren't the ones throwing up for fashion, it's the people who want to be models and think the only way they can is by throwing up.
The pictures we see on magazine covers are not real. Those models come to the photoshoot in old sweats with their hair stuck to the side of their face, & they 'beautify' them with a ton of makeup. But even THAT'S not good enough because then they do hours & hours of editing.

Nobody is that perfect in real life.

Oh, and you can't stereotype a disease. Models, aspiring models, lawyers, aspiring lawyers, doctors, teachers, students, moms, everyone. Eating disorders are't prejudice, they don't care who you are.
I Choose Team Thunder Thighs and against Team Twigs...lol. I like my girls to look healthy and not anorexic or balimic.
So, I totally love you. Most guys walk around encouraging us poor girls to torture ourselves, I'm glad that they're not all like that. :)

Oh, and Amanda. I'm sorry if you thought I was excluding thin people. I definitely wasn't. Real women come in different shapes, sizes, colors, etc, & they aren't afraid to admit it. :goodvibes

I probably eat more than you can ever imagine.
But that 'stick thin' description describes me perfectly.
Sorry if you don't consider me a real woman, I can't control my metabolism.

I'm not going to lie, I find things like this really offensive and it where I used to get a lot of my self confidence issues from. I'm not all that "curvy" and don't have a womanly body...so I must look like a child. Some people really can't help their bodies. This type of things makes girls want to jump on the plastic surgery bandwagon to increase bust size and such.

It's really a catch-22. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
