Girls Weekend in NYC - Looking for tips/advice

I bit the bullet yesterday and purchased Wicked tickets. I think I did fairly well. I got Orchestra A, 9-11. Its off to the side, but they were advertised (on the Ticketmaster site) as full view, not obstructed view. I paid the full $125 price, but I felt they were better seats than some of the higher priced offerings (in the under $200 range) from the ticket resellers.

I need to purchase tickets for Wicked in August as well. What do you all think is the best value for your money? I don't want to spend a fortune but I want good seats and I have a 7 day window to look at. Suggestions?

You'd probably do best to look at mid-week tickets for the best seats. You can get Orchestra and Front Mezzanine for $125. The cheaper tickets are further back. I didn't want to risk not being able to see well. You aren't likely to find a good seat for less than $125, even on Ebay.

I can do $125, but didn't think I could get Orchestra for that? I need to get moving on this. What site did you purchase from?

Just stayed at the Marriott Marquis this past week into Sat. It was great! Good room sizes, very comfy beds and quiet. Nice escape from the hub bub of Times Square. Restaurants in the Hotel are pricey.. we went to the lounge at the top one night 'The View' and 3 drinks cost $52 without tip!:scared1:
There's a Junior's across the Street for breakfast which is more reasonable than the ones inside the Hotel as well. Beware, they do add a fee of $2.28 for every phone call, local and calling card.

We did TKTS and the day we were there (Thurs) there were some Wicked tickets..can't recall the discount because we have seen. We went to see 'In the Heights' which was great!!! The line ups begin for TKTS about 1 hour to 90 mins prior to them going on sale sooo you will lose some time getting them. The day we were there they went on sale at 3..we got there just after and the wait was more than an hour.

Have a great time! Hope the weather is better for you than it was for us!

Check out Explorer Pass NY. You get 3 attractions for $63-the site has all the ones you can pick from. It's a nice savings:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I went through the Gershwin Theater website, which takes you to Ticketmaster. ( http://gershwintheatre.com/ )

There are definitely orchestra seats for $125. Not all Orchestra are Premium. Just choose best available in the top box and see what comes up for a week night during your stay. I had looked at many reseller sites and I really didn't think some of the seats under $200 were worth it in comparison. Good luck!!

Thanks for the feedback on the hotel. I'm very excited about staying there. I'm glad you had a good experience.

I've never heard of Juniors. Is this a chain? I found a deli about 2 blocks over that looks to have good, affordable food. I thought we'd walk over there for breakfast rather than the pricey restaurants. I need to save my $$ for a pricey dinner. :)

Junior's is a great place to eat -- burgers, sandwiches etc. ... but they are famous for their fantastic New York-style cheesecakes!

http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/

Their "standard" cheesecake has a weird thin sponge-cake layer instead of a graham-cracker crust, which as far as I'm concerned isn't real cheesecake but that's just me. :) They have other varieties though with different crusts so there's something for everybody!

If you want other restaurant suggestions let me know!

On a related note, I hope I'll have more notice in the future when people come visit my fine city ... I'm talkin' to you, minnie56.
