It has been pretty crazy around here, back in November I found out the office that I have been working at for the past 13 1/2 years is closing. I was devastated by the news. However I was given the opportunity to work from home but on a commission only basis. So far it has been working out wonderfully! Working from home has been like a dream come true and I wish I could have been able to so it sooner.
Since I now set my own hours I have the freedom to pursue another dream of mine. I am working on becoming a Disney Travel Specialist. I am so excited and having so much fun. I am also thinking about starting my own blog but am totally stuck on a name for it, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am so excited about all these changes in my life that I just had to share.:banana::banana:

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!!!

How exciting and scary at the same time, Kandace!
I understand the dream of being a Disney Travel Specialist. I was drilling Carol(rocks) about it when we were in Disney World last month. But it will just be a "dream" for me as I need that guaranteed paycheck. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to meet you. :goodvibes

Hello ladies!

A quick update on the pink tee. Just about done on the final design and colors. Went to the print shop with the rough draft, and was quoted 12.00 -14.00 for a plain printed tee. That is with the maximum amount of 6 colors!!! :cool1: Now I need to figure out the best to my ability how much the rhinestones and glitter will cost. I'm excited. I hope you all will like the design. LOL...I like it, so you will like too. Right? :rotfl::rolleyes1

(Am I scaring you?)popcorn::

Miss Mel, you know how much we love, love. love your tees and taste. :lovestruc I am sure they will be perfect for our group.

Katie, open your darn gifts already, I want to hear about them and see them. I'm not even in the exchange but am excited to see everyone's gifts. And I hope you are having a better day.

Mel~ I know the shirts will look fabulous!!!

Kandace~ How exciting for you. I don't think I'd like to work from home. I like the break from my regular life. I know, I'm weird like that :upsidedow.

Katie, open your darn gifts already, I want to hear about them and see them. I'm not even in the exchange but am excited to see everyone's gifts. And I hope you are having a better day.

I finally opened it last night . And I took pics too. I ran out of time last night and didn't get a chance to get on the computer, so I will be posting them tonight (maybe LOL).

Hello everyone!! I think I have all the meals updated now, but as always you should check to make sure you are listed where you want to be. :thumbsup2

I don't know what's going on with the DIS for me, but it's really annoying. It takes me between 4-8 minutes just to make one post!!! :sad2: I know it's not my computer because every other site I go to is working fine. Anyway, I can't stand it, so until it improves you probably won't see me posting much! :rolleyes1

Mel, thanks for all your hard work on not only the new tees for this year, but also offering to order and bling purple tees for those who missed out last year. You amaze me, and we all appreciate you so much. I am so excited to see the new hot pink tees! :cool1:

Kandace, sorry about your office closing, but I'm glad things are working out even better for you now. :)

Katie, what'd ya get? popcorn::

Everyone else, I hope you are doing well! Have a great Thursday!

:Aren't you glad to know what I'm thinking about as well?? And I don't even know if I'm going for one day, two days, or at all!!! :lmao:

Stop teasing us - you know you want to go!!

I did run Sunday night. It was an experience to say the least. It was the most dis-organized race I have run. They ran out of water along the course, they ran out of "swag-bags" and t-shirts at the expo and they ran out of medals! I was lucky enough to get all three. It was so cold and started raining the last half mile. It I had crossed the finish line and not gotten my medal I would have cried.

After the first 15 or so corrals the stopped spacing every one out and there was no room to run since we were all should to shoulder. It took me about 30 minutes longer than my usual pace to finish.

I got really sick after the race and was sick much of monday and from what I've read online the water they did have might have been contaminated becasue so many people got sick. :scared1: The water was coming right out of fire hydrants in to trash cans which they then dipped cups into. So unsanitary!

That is just horrible. Disorganized races are the worse - especially a marathon! Can't believe they would just dump water into trash cans and dip the cups!! UGH!

If this is the start of an official poll, I will go with CoD.

Me too!!

Happy for you that the changes in your life are for the better ! I've worked from home for 30 years running my day care. My #1 reason for getting into this busness was so that I would be home for my kids. It worked out great and even though my kids are grown I still enjoy what I do, well most of the time. Sometimes difficult children can make my job, well, difficult.

I know the shirts will be beautiful and we'll get compliments on them like we did with the castle shirts.

It always runs slow for me but not that slow.

Wow! How cool. I am not sure what they do, but any job working for Disney has to be amazing.

Nothing exciting going on over here. I am at work and getting ready for our finals next week. Thank goodness I only go till Wednesday! My classes do not meet on Thursday and only one class meets for 45 minutes on Friday so my boss told me to send my students to another classroom and take the day off. Yippee! I was trying to figure out how to use that time to lengthen my DL trip, but alas...the hotel cost, flight cost difference, and sitter for the other son all create issues that trap me in. At least I am getting my holiday trip!

Capri~ Part of me wants to kick you for hating Character meals, but you are so cute I cannot. I will forgive you this one time.:snooty:

:scared1: That's awful!
I think my SIL was in the race too, she hasn't posted on Facebook yet how her trip went and if she was able to run, she had a recent knee injury.

I found this posted on Disneyland Facebook page

"Heads up, Holiday Shoppers! Today only Disney Theme Park Authentic Merchandise is 25% off online at disneyparks.com/store! Plus, when you spend $50 or more, your order ships free! Apply promo code PARK25 to receive this special holiday offer!"

Just tossing it our there to tempt everyone. :thumbsup2

Our phone has been out of service for the last two days, yet our DSL still worked.. weird! Thankfully it was an issue outside, so no charge to fix it. (indoor wiring failures cost $85, we rent an apartment..I don't think it would be fair to charge us for the building's wiring issue)

And we got a bit of money to have the car towed away, not much! booooooo! But it would be too much for us to fix everything that is wrong, not worth the hassle on a 15 yr old piece of poo car. :headache:
No more car, but more money back into the budget.. no car insurance premium (for an 18 yr old male), no gas money, no extra expenses. Ahhhhh, much better! The sucky part is grocery shopping, my sis offers a ride each week or we take the bus and use our little cart (best thing we ever bought!) or we can borrow neighbor's car. And visiting family is not possible, it's their turn to come visit us instead ;) I seriously believe we are not meant to have a car, so why keep testing fate? KWIM? Thankfully we live in an area with decent public transportation, though I will be happy when my last kid is out of school... we can move closer to an area with more frequent service. I love living near a big city.

ooo I forgot!
I'm loving all the holiday cards!! Such a fun treat to see what I get in the mail each day. I have them taped in a row in our hallway, instant holiday decorations. :santa: Mailed mine off earlier this week, or rather hubby did it for me because he's such a sweetie! :lovestruc

Uh oh, you jumped ship too? I kinda feel bad, but Steakhouse 55 sounds yummy...and more, shall I say, relaxing. :rolleyes1
It is a very relaxing place. White tablecloths, waitresses that have been there FOREVER and cool black and white pics of Hollywood luminaries on all the walls.

H I hope you all will like the design. LOL...I like it, so you will like too. Right? :rotfl::rolleyes1

I hear ya! Difficult clients make my job difficult too!

It always runs slow for me but not that slow.
I don't know what the deal is. I literally will click "reply", get up, walk away, come back and it's still working on it. :confused3 It's not every time but it's enough to bug me.

Wow. Good luck. You are braver than I am. After going 3 weeks without our minivan, I realized just how much we really do need one. We don't travel far in it because it wouldn't make it, but running errands and such was a real pain without it.
You have a ride for groceries, but what about just going out and doing family things? Especially now during the holidays, just driving around looking at lights and such. Will you miss that? I only ask because at one point I seriously toyed with giving up our van and using public transportation, but now I don't think I could...

That does sound really nice.

Hmm? After that description, I might have to jump ship from La Brea! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Seriously....it does sound nice, and I have never been.

You know if you like it I will like it!

Aw..thank you to you, and everyone else who has commented.

I hear ya! Difficult clients make my job difficult too!
:headache:

Can you take me off the Surf's Up breakfast and put me on Steakhouse 55 please? I have done Surf's up before but have not done the Steakhouse.

Thank you!

TGIF, ladies!! Hope you all have a great weekend. :goodvibes

Mel, let me know if you are for sure switching over. ;)

You got it. :thumbsup2

Beth: I have not heard back from Ms. Sally, but she is planning on coming with her friend Debbie. So for now please put her on all meals I am on.

Capri--sending check to you today.

Whatever makes DIS slow for you must spread like the plague, it took several minutes to post this reply.. weird!

We didn't have a car for the first three years of our marriage, back to using the bus is not a big deal. Yes it's inconvenient but it works if you have the time to wait around for the bus (hubby and I do have loads of time). Unfortunately, the route we live on does not run frequently. It's only once per hour (during non-rush hours) and after rush is over (6 pm).. there are no more of that route. It also does not run at all on Sundays or holidays.

There is another route we can take (up to 1 am, runs every 20 minutes), but the last stop is about a mile away from our apartment. Nice leisurely walk past a park/lake in the summer and fall.. NOT okay in the winter at night, brrr!!!

We plan to stay here, put up with the limited transportation, until Noah is out of school (two and half school years to go!).
We could move to an area with frequent service (every 10-15 minutes until 2 am) (also cheaper rent), but might end up stuck in that district.

We have open enrollment in MN (can go to any school as long as there is a spot available), but don't want to take the chance of no spot open for him in our current district (his high school is on the top high school in the nation lists each year.. this is why we live here!)

Also, there are so many activities in the metro area. Most of them are on the bus line, or the light rail (which is expanding in the next two years), just takes a little longer to get there. .. Part of the adventure!:thumbsup2

I'm sure most families in suburban areas couldn't go without a car. (Can't walk to grocery store because it's surrounded by highways or more than 5 miles away, no sidewalks, etc) We're lucky to be living in a first ring suburb with some mass transit options. Grocery store is mile away, high school 2 miles, etc. And safe for walking.

So quiet here...Is anyone still going to the Surf's Up breakfast? I am hoping there are more than two of us left

I need to find some new jeans today. Does anyone recommend a good brand? I run between 12 and 14 depending on the brand, but hate that muffin top - but I also want to avoid jeans that go up to my belly button!

I still plan on going to surf's up. My kids were never into the characters. All pictures (except one year with tigger and eeyore) I have made my kids stop for.

The only meal I might not go to is the Bar B Q lunch if the CoD shopping trip is at that time. I think I would rather shop thant eat. I will also have my car so I can fit three of four other people (there is room for three in the back but I don't know how comfortable the middle seat is)

Also my trunk is pretty good size so there will be rooms for all the goodies we buy.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I am still unpacking from my move. I need to have everything done by next week so we can go up to Disneyland the week before christmas.

Good morning, everyone!! Hope you all have a great weekend.
Today we are off to a local Christmas festival. Free crafts, Santa, booths selling yummy food, and tonight a Christmas lights boat parade. :santa:

Beth: I have not heard back from Ms. Sally, but she is planning on coming with her friend Debbie. So for now please put her on all meals I am on.
Hi Cheryl. OKay, Miss Sally and Debbie have been added to every meal you are signed up for. :)

Well, it sounds like you know what you are doing. At least you'll be free from worry about it breaking down. I live in fear of another strange noise or something happening to our van.

On the front page I still have 11 people listed. :thumbsup2

Good luck unpacking! And in case I forget to say it later, enjoy your trip to Disneyland! :)

SCAVENGER HUNT
I just wanted to let you know that Katie/MamaKate will be taking over the sign-ups for the Scavenger Hunt so that Mel can continue her great work with the t-shirts and other things. (Thanks Katie and Mel!) After the holidays Katie will be posting reminders to sign-up if you haven't already, as well as posting more specific info on our DIS Divas Dollar Talk Facebook page. Keep an eye out for that. Oh, and teams should be announced sometime after the New Year as well so you can start thinking of those fun team names! :dance3:

MEALS
If you have not signed for meals yet, don't wait too long! Bridget/sierranevada is in charge of making all our meal reservations, and is looking at a sign-up deadline of **December 21**. (Thanks Bridget!) She will also post on our Facebook page with the specific information for those of you signed up to do the Fantasmic dessert seating.

Hi all,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the trip due to a conflict with things happening at work.

I will be thinking of you all while I am in Toronto in the freezing cold/dark weather.

:(
