He didn't show up and I was granted full physical and legal custody! Woo hoo!

Love to read good news and see everyone happily joking with each other.
We sent ds to the hospital via ambulance later that night of the accident. He was dizzy, blurred vision, sweating, glassy eyed, pale. It came on quickly and just as quickly he felt better. We thought a trip to the ER was a good idea to check him over. ER docs were concerned about the amount of internal bleeding in his thigh, took a bunch of labs, x rays. Determined he was okay, sent him home with crutches, ice packs for the next few days and pain meds. He has an ENORMOUS hemotoma (similar to a bruise) on his thigh , size of a football! Except each day the pooled blood leaks and the bruise gets a little bigger, eventually the bruise will be his entire length of the leg.

And yeah, we didn't know the extent of the injury because typical teen modesty and bravadoness.. he didn't look at it or show it to us.
Talked to hubby's doc during his monthly visit today, he told us some additional things to watch out (it can lead to infection later) and pointed out those symptoms (dizzy, sweaty) were shock due to the blood loss.
D'OH!
At the time, my gut feeling told me to get him looked at.. but the oh yeah, remember first aid classes?
Do this.. didn't kick in. Though we did make him stay sitting, argued with him when the symptoms passe "I'm fine now, I can stay home"
The Heck you are!
Now he has missed two days of classes (he's a freshman at a local community college), argh! He hates the crutches and is trying to hop around without them, stiff and sore.. so he looks kinda funny moving around the apartment and hobbled over to the store next to us. We are at the point now of teasing him for his lameness routine.. hobble hobble, hop hop, curse, ow.. hobble hobble.
