I just read on the Disney Parks Blog that Carnation Cafe will be closed during our trip.:sad1: That's always a popular group meal.
Also closed will be Gibson Girl and the Candy Palace. I'm wondering if the Candy Palace will have a temp. place set up. Who can go home without a stop there? Not me !!!!

<gasp> :scared1:

I've still never eaten at Carnation..... If it wasn't supposed to be a hundred freakin degrees next week, I might think about it. LOL

Have breakfast there or a late lunch when it's all in shade. I love that place and usually eat there on every trip.

I was just coming to post this. :rotfl:

One good thing is the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café opens in January 2012.

On Saturday DBF and I had drinks at Trader Sam's Tiki Bar at the Disneyland hotel. I really like the decor! We sat inside and it's on the small side but there are tables outside.

There is so much stuff on the walls to read and look at. When certain drinks are ordered it sets off differet effects in the bar so I think it's better to sit inside.

The prices are average for Disneyland. We each had a drink and split an appetizer and spent $28. The appetizer was just ok. I wouldn't order it again.

With the long walk over we will probably just stick to the Cove bar.

Im so sad that i wont be able to go! I'll still be 17 at the time hahaha! It sounds like you girls will have a blast! Ill definatley be checking back to see what adventures you're upto! Ill just have to join in on the next one. Any excuse to travel half way around the world for disney! :rolleyes1:

I loved it there. We sat inside first, then ventured outside to listen to the music. I love any place that makes me feel like I am on vacation some place exotic. lol

Yes, please do check back! After the trip, we'll post plenty of pics for all to see. :)

Just stopping in to say hello. Been supper busy with things. Glad it's Wed. :thumbsup2
Super busy seems to be the theme with many of us lately. I'm tired!! :rotfl:

Just popping in to say HI! :wave2:
The kids are getting excited about our December Disney trip, so we've been planning where we'll eat, what we'll ride, and what shows to see.
My oldest DD was so excited to find Disneyland when she was playing on Google Maps today. We had fun checking it out!

One week from right now, I'll be on a plane coming home from DL. SIGH.

Got most of the packing done for the weekend trip. Tomorrow I have to go back to the store and exchange the sour cream I bought today that was LIQUID. Um, not gonna work for dip! I need to clean up the kitchen, make the dip, water the plants in the back yard, load the car, except the ice chest, get everything for the ice chest organized so that when Russ gets home from work, I can pack the ice chest and we can GET OUT OF HERE.

Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I hope you are all doing well. I am terrible at keeping up on here. :( Off to the gym. I hope you all have a good evening! :cutie:

Hi Ya'll - I am very excited about the shirts. since I am new here - Does everyone order their own shirt and iron on the design or it it ordered though a sceenprinter? I requested to be part of the group on facebook - but I was never approved. Could someone post a link to the page? - maybe I screwed that up. Highly possible.

My kids both started school today. Wow, school in Alaska is going to be interesting. Especially the whole dressing in layers and changing shoes all the time. I have never lived anywhere that got colder than 20 degrees on a regular basis.
My second grader has only 16 kids in her class. That is the smallest class I have ever seen. :rotfl:

My son is in special education-you want a great indivualized program for a special needs kiddo - come to rural Alaska. I was very nervous about changing his program up but I have been plesantly surpised. He will truly have a one-on one aide. He never had that in GA even though he technically could have it. They just did not have the resources. (He was 3 to 1 - which actually worked out okay) They focus alot on ADL (activites of daily living) ie: cooking, shopping, laundry, personal care. This is interesting to me because that didn't start in elementary school in GA. Even though the school and town is small, he will have a field trip once a week. Berrypicking is something they do in school. I love it! He will have the regular subjects in school but it completely dependant on his needs, with several different circulium to test and use the one that fits for him. That is pretty cool - because it is not based on the class needs as a whole. I have super high hopes that he will start reading a little this year. (He is 9 and just really learned his alpabet last year, he is on a preschool to K level at 3rd grade)

We are going to Disneyland with the cruise in Nov. I talked with the kids teachers and they are superexcited for them and don't mind they are going to be gone. I guess being in an area that it costs so much for getting out of town (plane tickets $400 RT pp just to Anchorage) People don't get out much and they really encourage it. So cool.

All in all I am very encouraged. I have high hopes for this year. :)

Us too......one of our favorite breakfast places!!! (in fact, usually the ONLY non-character breakfast we do)

Oh, lost half the quote about Carnation Cafe. Anyhow, was just going to say that when we were there in July, and it was super hot, I called in at about 11 for the next seating at about 1, and we went and had the Matterhorn Sunday for our lunch. It was lovely, sitting under an umbrella in the shade eating a giant sunday with my 8 year old. I highly recommend it!

I had logged on the other day and made a long post and then my computer rebooted right in the middle of it and I lost it. Totally forgot everything I was going to say.

I remember wanting to say Yeah to Beth for Vegas fun. (I am going to be there Aug 29th to Sept 3rd and hope maybe we can get together for a bit of Diva fun. Maybe Jane can make it too??)

Also saw the shirt posting and am excited for pink. Love that color, and I know the shirts will turn out just awesome!

And that's all I can remember. Hope you all are enjoying your last days of summer.

PS Princess Kayla you make me want to move to Alaska! That is awesome about your school programs.

Tentatively signing up.

DH & I have signed up for a Canadian Club 33 day for Feb 20th (We have never been so thought it was an opportunity we could not miss.) and I was able to book a studio at the VGC from the 19th to the 27th so to me it looked like I was meant send DH home mid week and join the Girls Trip.

Not certain exactly how everything works. I did try to pick up the necessary information from the thread but it is very long so I suspect I missed a bit.

Me:
50 something from Central Alberta Canada
Have been going to DL off and on for 50+ years
More recently more often visit WDW but DL is still my favorite park
Favorite ride Peter Pan’s Flight at DL (family is very patient with me)
Noticed this thread a year or so ago when we were going back to DL after a bit of an absence and thought it looked fun

That's wonderful that you're getting such great services......but I don't think I want to move to Alaska. We're somewhat pleased with what our twins are getting here....but we're moving to a different county in the upcoming months & worry about if they'll receive equivalent services....the last county we moved from was terrible. It's a shame that each county is different in a state....they should be providing the same things.

Hi Joan & welcome!! :cool1:
I hope you'll be able to join us.....the best way to prepare is to continue to follow the thread & join in on conversations.....you'll find out more about us & it will make it easier when you meet in person!!!

I'm Laurie, mom of 7, married 27 yrs & this will be my 2nd Diva trip!! I'm a stay at home mom, taking care of my twin 4 yr daughters that are mentally delayed, autistic & have medical issues as well.

I live in Oregon in the Willamette Valley....very beautiful & green...but to keep it that way, we get our fair share of rain.....so getting away to sunny Southern Cali is a real highlight!!

Hi, hi, hi!! Only a couple more weeks until I see a few of you at Disneyland!! Just got off the phone with the HoJo a bit ago. I decided to drive down after wokr on Thursday instead of super early Friday morning. Very happy with my decision since the 1st is an "retro rate" night. Yay!! Even better? I got about $100 back from an adjustment on my taxes for 2010. I barely have to adjust the money I have budgeted for the trip.

Hello everyone! It's 9:30 at night and I am finally getting a chance to hop on and say hi. These days just keep getting more and more busy. But then again, back to school time usually is. Lots of errands and shopping to do for four kids, plus trying to cram in a few last minutes of summer fun. And to top it all off, Ruben's parents might be coming to town for a few days.

Anyway, hope you are all doing well.

Hi Dianna! Aw, how cute of your DD. December is such a pretty time to go.
Almost as fun as Halloweentime. ;) lol

One week from right now, I'll be on a plane coming home from DL. SIGH.
Hey Lisa! Oh, don't think about the coming home part. Not yet. Have a great trip! Enjoy every minute.

Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I am terrible at keeping up on here. :(
Rochelle, Rochelle, Rochelle. What am I going to do with you. :sad2:
;) Just kidding. Good to see you here, girl!

Hey Joni! Are we friends on Facebook? I can't remember..... lol
Anyway, if we are then I can add you to the group we have on there. :thumbsup2
As for the shirts, we've done it different ways in the past. But this year, I believe Melody/tinkermell will be making the tees for us. She did the purple castle tees from last year and they were beyond amazing. She's truly talented. More info will be posted as time goes on. If you want a purple castle tee from last year, let her know and she will add you to that list.

Good luck to the kids in school. Sounds like things are going to go great for them. That's a relief for you, I'm sure!
