Girls Trip~OLD THREAD (see first post for link to new one)

Guess that means you'll have to stay until Monday . . . .

I won't (probably) have an AP during this trip, so I will be limited to my 3 day parkhopper - Trish may want to drive down, but I just can't. It's just not worth spending 15+ hours in a car to save that money. That's a whole DAY that could be spent in the parks, KWIM? It would mean we wouldn't arrive until about the time the M&G starts and then we'd have to leave early Sunday and drive all day, which means only two days at DL and two days travel time. Bleh bleh bleh. NO. I'd rather skimp on eating nice while I'm there and stick to breakfast in the room and bringing protein bars and the like and just have dinner out.

I do have a $50 voucher from Southwest from when my luggage took its own little vacation on the way home from Convention, so that will help. I'm also looking into the option of doing JetBlue into Long Beach as I saw some $49 fares advertised recently from them. Plus, there is always the chance that Southwest will have a special between now and then and I can take advantage of that.

eta: Jet Blue is $88 each way between Sac and Long Beach for our dates, but the shuttle from the airport is $48 EACH way. Southwest it is! LOL

I've been looking too and haven't seen any deals come up yet. JetBlue flies into Long Beach and I've flown them before. Not as many flights but cheaper than Southwest right now. I think the flights are $88 each way. They seem to have a lot of specials too. There is a good group that flies out of Sacramento now so I think they should give us a discount!

If any good rates come up, make sure to post so we can all jump on the bandwagon. Are you heading out first think Thursday morning?

I'm looking at the second flight out Thursday morning. First flight is hard for Trish to make since she has to drive in from Fairfield. And what gawd-awful time would you have to leave Chico to make that flight????!

For anyone thinking about flying in/out of Long Beach, my daughter and I are arriving Thursday morning at 9:17 and leaving Sunday evening at 6:15. Anyone traveling shortly before/after could share a cab with us and split the cost. I see that there is a flight arriving from SAC at 10:35 and we could wait for you.

Way too early, that's for sure!!! I'm actually thinking of driving down to Sac on Wednesday night and staying at a hotel. That way I can sleep in alittle and since I can get a government rate at the hotel it's not too bad. I got in so late last year that I didn't get to go into the park. This year I don't want to miss a thing.

Carol - I may take you up on this. I was actually thinking about renting a car so maybe we could split that if everything worked out. Last time I rented a car down there for a few days it was about the same as taxi rate to the hotel and back. With a car, we could go get goodies for the villa.

I went river rafting for the first time yesterday and had a blast. We did a 1/2 day trip on the American River. It was me and 3 girlfriends - we can't wait to go again. The only downside was falling off and ending up under the boat. A definite moment of sheer panic but it all worked out - having a very cute guide pull me back in the boat helped the situation too.

If anyone is looking for a fun summer activity I would totally recommend it. We were able to 50% off coupons from Travel Zoo.

Well that sounds like a great time my family would enjoy. Me maybe on a easy river nothing wild.

Beth. I have never been to the golden nugget. I knew I heard of a hotel that had a cool slide but never remember which one. I need to look into doing this.

I am doing better today. It's hard as I am a surrogate mother and when you want to help someone but things get in the way and you can't. Now I hope to find someone else to help and hopefully she does too.

I have been looking at car rentals but the cheapest I can find is about $150. When I rented at LGB in 2010 I found something for $60 and could hardly believe it. If we can get less that $100 we should go for it. Let me know if you find anything. If not, Michelle has offered to shop for the villa.

The only run I have ever done (okay, and I only did the 2K walk part) was the Jingle Bell Run before Jesse came along........ and I only did that because I wanted the cute shirt, jingle bells, and we were going out for a yummy brunch afterwards If some of these runs had more "walking", I'd do some.

Hello everyone!!!

I am back from an over nighter to the Golden Nugget with my oldest daughter Noelle and a friend of hers. Just us girls. It was nice. They had a great deal, rooms were $42 and included free buffet for all of us. We just kicked back at the awesome pool with a water slide that goes through the shark tank. It was a quickie, but it was nice and relaxing and just what I needed.

Nope, sorry Shirley, you are too sweet to be a Grumpy. But, we'll make you an honorary member anyway.

Sounds like you had a great time. Hey you could adopt me, no that wouldn't work, your adopted daughter old enough to be your mother (maybe even grandmother). Ah...that's nice about the honorary member but I really can be a little stinker. I was being on my best behavior.

I booked my flight home today. I fly back out of Orange County on Sunday the 26th at 4:15PM. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a discounted fare for the trip down.

I just like the fancy medals you get for finishing. The one for the Hollywood race is shaped like a star.

Here's the ones I'll be getting for the Disneyland Half and the Tinkerbell Half.

Ok I have to say it. I am getting so excited to be going for my first trip. I mean to be around others who totally get my obsession with Disney just blows my mind.
My family is so happy I am going to do it. My DDs are like mom you deserve it and should go no matter what. You know your on the site all the time. Say I should go and meet you all and not worry so much.
It's so nice to have them saying those things. I usually don't do things and talk myself out of everything. I do it all for my family before I do for me. I think it's just a mom thing.

I wish my family understood my obsession with Disney but they do not in any way understand why I want to go to DL so often.

In fact my Sister in Law who is visiting from San Diego with her 5 kids said to me this morning...

"You know if you are going to spend a week at DL by yourself you could take one of my kids with you!"

Like its not okay to go to DL without kids!!
