Happy New Year everyone!!

Sounds like everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was great but I was pretty sick. I also got a new NEPHEW! He is just so awesome. Thank God I can't have any more kids or there would be a problem!! :lmao: Really though, how can someone be just so perfect? :confused3

I voted on the t-shirts. I kinda have to be careful cuz I have red hair. Brown works well for me and a small amount of pink is ok. I love the idea of lanyards and name tags. And I also think everyone needs a shirt, no matter what!

I haven't booked a flight yet either. I am waiting for a better price and I still haven't decided if I want to fly in Thursday night after work or early Friday. I work right by the airport so it would be convenient to catch a ride.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Cindy, good to see you! I'm sorry to hear you were sick over the holiday. I hope you are feeling better now.
And congratulations on your new nephew!!! :goodvibes That's wonderful news.

My nephew announced he and his wife are expecting a baby over the summer and I was overjoyed!! I've known him since he was 3 and I can't believe he's married, in the Navy and having a baby!! I also cannot wait to shop for baby clothes again.
Although, if I'm already his aunt, what will I be to the new baby?
A Great Aunt????? :sad2:

Oh, and about your flight.... I think you should fly in Thursday night. ;) That way we are all there and can meet for breakfast at the hotel and then head off to the parks. :cool1:

Beth, I became a Great Aunt over Christmas! :scared1: It's been so long since I've held a newborn, but she was just awesome and perfect and round.

My friend, Ellen, and I are planning on flying in Thursday morning to spend Thurs & Fri in the parks. I would have to purchase a blockout pass for Sat, but depending on what events are going on that day, I may or may not. I'm interested in the Food & Wine weekend itinerary and what, if anything, our group will decide to participate in.

My dh consulted with his trusted t-shirt guy here in Phoenix and found new options for shirts that will work for everyone. I'll post the new poll separately.

Hello ladies!

Sorry I've been missing for so long. I hope I haven't been forgotten :guilty: .

My life has been out of control lately (and it's not because of the holidays). It's actually put me in an emotional slup and trying to break free of my depression :sad1: . We went to Disneyland yesterday and that helped a little :lovestruc .

I vote for any of the shirts that are good for the whole team :thumbsup2 . I'd also love a lanyard/nametag.

The Food and Wine festival at Disneyland is nothing compared to WDW, but they do have some fun cooking demos that are free & you get to sample the food after. A month or so before the festival starts, Disneyland has a seperate website that lists all the demos for the day, so you can see what type of foods they are cooking. You don't have to make ressies for the these.
They also have events that you pay for. I've always wanted to do one, so if some of you want to try one, I'm game.

Also, my New Years resolution is to start exercising again. I haven't exercised in 6 months and in turn, I've gained weight. I'm busting out all over the place and I need to get back on track :scared: .

Beth ~ I forgot to ask you about the Walk in Walts Footsteps tour. Did you get a chance to do this on your trip? I've always wanted to try it, but never have. Did you enjoy it? Do you think it was worth the money?

You did? Well congrats to you too! I'm excited. Even if Great Aunt sounds so....old. :rotfl: And I love babies. I can't wait to hold one again. I just wish they lived closer. They are in the Seattle area.
But I guess that just means I'll have to plan a trip. ;)

I'm interested in the Food and Wine too. I think it's perfect that it will be going on while we are there.
So if you don't do the parks on Saturday, do you have other plans already? Will you just hang out in DTD and shop or something?

I upgraded to a Premium last time I was there. It only cost me $60 and since our passes were fairly new (we'd just got them in Oct) and I was already going to pay the $40 day pass for Saturday, and it gave us family discounts at the stores and restaurants, we just figured it was worth it.

But I know there are others who will either have to pay the $40 or make other plans for the day, so maybe we can divide into two goups that day. Those who are going to the parks, and then those who aren't. Then we can work on a plan for those who aren't. :confused3

Oh, and thanks for all your work on the tees. Looking forward to the new poll! :yay:

Hey Katie!! Believe it or not, I was just thinking about you today! I was wondering where you were because you used to post almost daily and then we hadn't seen you around. So no, you are not forgotten at all. :)

I'm very sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. I realize we don't know each other that well yet, but we don't always have to chat about the trip. If you ever need to vent, just know you have some sympathetic ears here to listen.

In any case, I'm glad the trip to DL cheered you up some and that you continue to feel better. :wizard:

Also thanks for the info on the Food and Wine Festival. I can't wait to see what they offer. I'm sure we'll have several ladies who are interested in signing up for some of the events. :thumbsup2

Beth ~ I forgot to ask you about the Walk in Walts Footsteps tour. Did you get a chance to do this on your trip? I've always wanted to try it, but never have. Did you enjoy it? Do you think it was worth the money?

Well, we didn't do it yet because we had the kids and you have to be 16 I think. So we had planned to do it this month actually, towards the end of the month.
But now my MIL isn't sure she can watch them, so I really don't know.

I still want to go and I'm hoping it works out. If it does, I'll tell you all about it. If it doesn't then I really want to take the tour on this trip, because from what I've heard it's pretty good.

And if anyone's even thinking about it, this trip would be the perfect time because like I said, young kids aren't allowed. So hopefully we'll get several who are interested and we can go as a big group. :dance3:

Okay, these are the names I have listed on the front page. I think they are up to date, but I'm not sure and we did have a few recent additions who I still need names for. :flower3:

So if everyone can look this over and if you see any errors or if your name is missing, let me know. Thanks!! :thumbsup2

By the way, there are 36 names on this list, not including those who are coming with family and/or friends. So we've got a nice little group going here!! But there's always room for more! ;)

Ok, ladies, here's the photos of the t-shirts. They're Hanes brand classic fit v-neck (not fitted) in pre-shrunk 100% combed ringspung cotton.

The cost of these shirts is $15.50 or if you need a XXL or larger, it's an additional $1.50. They go up to XXXL.

The colors may be a little off viewing them on your monitor. Just be assured that the black shirt is true black, and the brown will be dark chocolate brown.

diva_brn.jpg

The good news here is that we don't necessarily have to order all the same color to get this price. So if some want brown and some want black, that's ok, and I think the colors are close enough, that we all will still match.

Dh is willing to work on lanyards with our names on them, but he has "real work" to do :sad2: , so it may have to wait a bit. We're looking at pink lanyards to look good with our shirts. :lovestruc

Also for those who haven't checked it lately, this is what we have so far on the front page for our schedule:

SCHEDULE (subject to change and items will be added as planned)

THURSDAY, April 24:
Official starting day!!

Lunch: Those of us who get in early enough can make plans to meet up for lunch if we want, once we know our arrival times.

Dinner: At DTD, either HOB and/or Jazz Kitchen, followed by drinks at the UVA bar??

FRIDAY, April 25:
Breakfast: If you are staying at CCI, they offer breakfast there.

Lunch: What about an early lunch at Blue Bayou??

Dinner: In one of the parks?

SATURDAY, April 26:
Breakfast: Goofy's Kitchen

Lunch:

Dinner:

SUNDAY, April 27:
Maybe a tour?? There is the Segway tour at DCA or the Walk in Walt's Footsteps at DL.

Breakfast: Those doing an early tour might want to just grab something quick and easy.

Lunch: (If your doing the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour, it includes lunch.)

Dinner: Since this is our last night, we should do a fun dinner. Ideas??

MONDAY, April 28:
Going home

Breakfast: Depending on everyone's departure times, maybe those who have the time, can meet in the park for breakfast??

I was thinking about what Callie was saying about possibly not doing the parks on Saturday for those who would don't want to pay the $40 black out day fee.

We don't have anything listed for dinner that night so far. So since we might end up dividing into two groups that day, one in the parks and one not, what do you all think of planning that night's dinner out of the parks so we can all be together?

I know there were several who were torn between eating at House of Blues and Jazz Kitchen. So here's what I was thinking.

We can eat at Jazz Kitchen on Thursday night for our first dinner together. And and then we eat at HOB for our dinner on Saturday.

Those were the two days that people might not be doing the parks, due to late arrival on Thursday and the blackout fee on Saturday, so at least we'd all be able to meet in DTD for a meal. And we'd get to try both restaurants.

How does that sound? Thoughts? Opinions? :confused3

(Oh, and we can always change it later on if something else comes up like a Food and Wine event that everyone would rather do instead.)

Those are great!! I love the dark brown, but it's nice we don't all have to order the same. And pink lanyards sound perfect. But then again, I love pink. LOL

Thanks again for doing this, and tell your DH we all appreciate it. :goodvibes

So what day do you think we'll wear these? Did we decide on Friday? I know we talked about it, but I can't remember.......

Thank you Beth for the warm welcome!

I am SO excited about a girls weekend in Dland, and the opportunity to meet some new Disney friends! I'm not sure I will be there the whole time, but probably most of it. YAY! :cheer2:

Since I live in the area, and am quite familiar with the resort (at least Disney property, I don't know much about other hotels) if there's any planning I can help with, please let me know!

I LOVE the shirt design, especially in the brown. Nice work!

It's going to take me a while to get through the whole thread and figure out who everyone is, but I will do my best to catch up quickly!

Shelly

PS- Here's a pic of me and dd at Dland. :)

Hi everyone.:)

Hey, look at castleeto (Shelly).....she already has the brown and pink fashion working for her and her daughter. I think those two colors look great together.:thumbsup2

I really like both shirt colors, so I'm happy with whatever color everyone else (or the majority) decides to get.

Are we also ordering shirts/lanyards/nametags for our friends coming along? I think we should, but maybe some of you have other thoughts about it.

I'm partial to wearing the shirts on Friday when the largest number of us ladies will be in the parks. Thoughts?

Beth - I like your dinner plans. I think they work for everyone (those that will be in the parks on Saturday, and those that won't), and like you said, we can always change the plans if something comes up.:thumbsup2

I just want to make sure we get a group photo during the time when the largest number of ladies is present.:woohoo:

(Wouldn't it be hilarious if our group sprung a surprise visit on Albort?!!!:lmao: )

I didn't even realize that when I posted the pic, but I do LOVE that color combo and dd and I both wear it alot!

(Wouldn't it be hilarious if our group sprung a surprise visit on Albort?!!!:lmao: )

Have any of you met him? That way it might be easier to find him. :)

The color combo...just as long as we don't do a brown shirt with pink AND green. Otherwise Baskin Robbins might sue us.:upsidedow I love the color combo, and did pink/green for my wedding...wanted to include brown, but couldn't get the ice cream place out of my head long enough to do so...

Great Aunts...I think it seems so "old" b/c they skip the "grand" and go straight to "great". It's an oddity in titles where one sister could be a grandmother and the other a great aunt. Odd. We call DS's great aunt by a Korean title that means...oh man, their titles are all confusing to me, still, but DS calls her Gomo. I don't know what it means, but since EVERYONE is an uncle or aunt to children, we wanted something a little bit 'closer'. :) (DH is half Korean, that's why we went with that culture, LOL)

Hi Shelly, your welcome! We're happy you decided to join us even if only for part of the time. Don't think we won't try to sway you to stay the whole time though. ;)

And thanks for the offer to help with the planning. I'm sure at some point we will probably take you up on that. :thumbsup2

Don't feel like you have to read the entire thread, unless you want too. You can just jump right in and start chatting if you want. Any important changes I always try to post on the front page because I know not everyone can keep up with every page, and that way they don't miss any important changes or decisions.

I also have to say that pic is GREAT!! Your daughter is adorable!! :goodvibes How old is she?

Capri, I think that if those with friends and family coming along want to order some for them, that would be a nice idea. Make them really feel part of the group. :thumbsup2 (Providing it's not too much more work for Callie's DH of course.)

And I was thinking we had picked Friday as the day most everyone would be there and be together in the parks. That would be a good picture day.

Oh, and yes, I think it would be too funny if we all surprised Albort. Doesn't he have a list on names in his sig of those who have found him? :confused3
Well, if he does, that would end up being one huge list!! He'd have about 36 names to add. :rotfl:

Have any of you met him? That way it might be easier to find him. :)

I've never met Albort. Not even sure where to start.....

That's too funny about the Baskin Robbins logo! I forgot about that. Don't think I've been to one of those since I was a kid.

I think it's really cool that your DS is being exposed to all the Korean culture. Does he speak Korean?
I had a step-dad who was Phillipino but I never learned even one word of that language. We weren't very close, so growing up I just couldn't be bothered.

I'm glad I haven't been forgotten :lovestruc .

Thanks for your willingness to listen to my troubles, but believe me, my life is a soap opera & I don't want all of you to get addicted to the saga of my life popcorn:: .

But I do thank God he has blessed me with opportunity to be able to go on vacation often, otherwise I think I would be half crazy by now :upsidedow . And I REALLY need a vacation with adults only. My kids are getting to the age they complain a lot, so it's not always fun going places with them.

Eamon can TRY to get out the word for "thank you", but it doesn't come out very well. :) And he just flat out refused to say it despite my asking him to, silly boy.

My MIL is of the opinion that you do NOT teach children the old language. She thought it confused kids, and won't admit that she was wrong, even though all the experts say that early childhood is the BEST time to help kids become multilingual.

But at the same time, she has never made an enormous effort to learn English. So at home DH and his sibs learned "Konglish", which made things very hard for him growing up and in school. His brother was born in Korea and moved here at 9, and is fluent in both languages. DH speaks Korean at around a 3rd grade level; he can understand it a bit better, but can't translate directly, nor can he translate quickly, so at gatherings I just sit there not knowing what anyone is saying until she calls him Deiji (pig) or an aunt calls me "ippuda" (beautiful...the aunts are very nice to me, LOL).

Since DH's dad was away at least half the year (military, merchant marines, then shipping companies) and was much older than most dads, he didn't talk much to his kids, so DH really isn't 100% fluent in English either...it's really hard! He still doesn't get the nuance of spoken English, b/c he grew up in a halfway-land of languages.

Since MIL refuses to really speak Korean around "Americans", despite us nearly begging her to, it makes it hard for Eamon to learn it.

But he did get a traditional Korean 1st birthday, which was stressful on me and DH (MIL was beyond angry with us even before we got there) but DS had a grand time and wore the cutest little outfit EVER. picture and picture
